Just a thought on your post about using our extra picks in trades. Scott Morrow looked great on film prior to the 2021 draft. I thought he would have gone in the 22-28 range, yet fell to #40. Food for thought regarding trading our extra picks...lol It would take a tonne IMO to get Carolina to trade him to us. If I'm the Canes I'm asking for #17 and Wallander/Johannsen, and be willing to throw a 3rd or 4th back to the Wings if pressed.

I can't see Dubois signing here long term. No deal. Way too much for Debrincat IMO. No deal. I know you kids want to fast track our playoff/competitive quotient, but, this is the last year/or two probably of having a decent chance to load our system, so I don't want to trade away any of our futures for the now. Our lottery luck has been crappy, (Gary hates us) and even with Kasper, Eddoggie etc, we're still pretty thin with hopefuls. Take on salary, get extra picks and if our team deserves to make it into the playoffs then great, I just don't want to force it.

We shouldn't be beggars. Ottawa is under the gun to move him, either now or at the TDL. For what they paid for him last year, they're going to want a 1st and a 3rd I would guess. Pass. If the kid really wants to come home, he can wait a year if the contract terms are right for both parties.

What would his contract look like and is he really someone we want to tie up long term? Guessing 8m per / 7Years. I really don't know enough about the kid to comment. He is pretty small and has never seen the difference between regular season and playoff hockey.

Yep. Probably the hardest one over the last ten years or so. The number of redrafts 3,5 and then 7 years from now will be epic.

Most of us only know what we read, hear or obsesrve to be trending, as well as the eye test from vids. We don't know s***e. I agree with drafting speed and size, and will have to trust our scouts to identify kids with that as well as heart and toughness. The regular season is a joke but entertaining. The playoffs is entertaining and a dose of reality as to 'what' wins. The only thing I learn every playoff year is: players with the most desire usually win it all.

If SY and Lolololande think enough of Kasper to start him as our 2C for one game, then I would have to believe they love the kid. Faceoffs, whatever.
