Yep. Probably the hardest one over the last ten years or so. The number of redrafts 3,5 and then 7 years from now will be epic.

Most of us only know what we read, hear or obsesrve to be trending, as well as the eye test from vids. We don't know s***e. I agree with drafting speed and size, and will have to trust our scouts to identify kids with that as well as heart and toughness. The regular season is a joke but entertaining. The playoffs is entertaining and a dose of reality as to 'what' wins. The only thing I learn every playoff year is: players with the most desire usually win it all.

If SY and Lolololande think enough of Kasper to start him as our 2C for one game, then I would have to believe they love the kid. Faceoffs, whatever. Both teams traded for their engine's, Tkachuk and Eichel, and at the time I thought FLA was crazy to give up Huberdeau, Weegar and a 1st pick to Calgary who HAD to trade him or get nothing.

I think we've had some bad luck - Vrana No Bert for most of the year and then SY couldn't/wouldn't agree on a deal. SY couldn't turn down the deal for Hronek as he probably figures he can either trade for or draft his upgraded replacement with either pick. Zadina sucks. Fabbri always hurt. So yeah we need scoring, but, all of the above just pushed our timeline out a bit more.

The only team I see that would trade on draft day would be Vancouver. They might be tempted with a player (Z?) , their 2nd rounder back and a swap of 17 for 11. OTH, the Jets could as well, with no 2nd rounder. If Stevie really can't decide between two guys at #17 perhaps he adds #18 for our 2nd rounders, or combination of picks. Or just let our scouts have their fun with those three 2nd rounders. The draft always has surprises with guys dropping.

What do I know? IMO Smith is in the 2nd tier and gets picked before Michkov. I would consider this trade only if Carlsson or Smith were available assuming Fantilli is 2nd off the board. You never know what team has what player ranked on their own draftboard. If your top 4 plus Smith are gone then I wouldn't make the deal. We're getting a top 6 forward or top 4 D at #9. Looking at the past 10 years only of drafts, the 15-18 picks are pretty dang good if you pick the right guy. considering this is a deeper draft apparently, I'd be happy to pick players rather than trade away one for a player. Another can of worms, what player?

Is this draft really that deep for the top 43? Where is the drop off point for packaging picks to have three 1st rounders or two picks better than 9 + 17? I'd be looking for teams with no 2nd rounders to try and trade up, Philly (7) , St. Louis (10), and Vancouver (11). Am I missing anyone?
