Personally, come playoff time, a healthy Bertuzzi is a player I'd rather have on my team than on the opponents. You are all right though, there are ifs: his health, his price, and his place in the dressing room (we don't have to work with the guy, so it really doesn't matter if we think he's tainted). Think of the depth this guy would bring to this team. Having him beside Zetterberg and Datsyuk would be scary, if you consider the success Holmstrom musters in that spot. Or throw him beside marshmallow Lang and Cleary. Also pretty scary. Hell, put him beside Draps and Maltby and I would still see a threat. He may not be an angel but Bertuzzi is that instant threat in all aspects of the game.

Well, Florida is really putting themselves on the ropes if they pull the trigger with that trade. They would have to be getting a huge scorer in return, like Heduyk (spelling?).

Got to see the Rangers play last night. I was keeping my eyes on Kindl and McGrath just out of curiousity. McGrath looked pretty good out there. He didn't score but I think he got an assist on the powerplay. He's patient with the puck and he has incredible bursts of speed. I was impressed most by how hard - and fast - he skated to get back and take away odd man rushes. Kindl was okay. I'm not trying to be negative and I probably only noticed his mistakes because I was watching him as much as I could. He played a lot of minutes out there including most PP's and PK's. He has good lateral movement out there, seems like he has good skills. I did notice make one ugly pass up the middle in his own end. And he screwed up at the offensive blueline at one point too and the other team scored directly as a result. I felt like making the dreaded 'Fischer' comparison but reminded myself that this was just ONE game and that any comparison would be completely unfounded. Anyways, I hope that these guys will be in red sometime in the future..... PS. i noticed Mcgrath wears #19

Frankly I think Detroit's forwards - assuming they sign Dats and Zetterberg - looks much better than there defensemen. Lidstrom is a lock but then you have a young defensemen in Kronwall, Fischer who needs to learn how to pass a puck, Chelios who can't be relied on to play a top 4 role and Schneider, who can make plays but will be a liability on the ice. Witt would bring some stability to a defence that I think is far too loose on the ice. Having him out there for under 2 million gives us a lot more flexability and depth.... I don't mind Rivers as the 7th guy but who knows if he's the sixth, who is going to step in when the old timers need a game off?

I agree with the one year comment. The guy is soft as butter but he'll be a scoring threat no matter where he goes. Sure, if he were to sign here, people will complain that we are too small and old - and this may be true - but don't forget we've got some good defensive players and some forms of grit on this team...drapes maltby holmstrom are all gritty in their own right.

Isn't Berezin like 5'8?? i may be exaggerating but we have no need for him here. I know it would be exciting to see Detroit get some new players, but they wont be getting anyone unless they come dirt cheap... obviously they will have to pay some significant amount for a starter. I figure if a new starter -- lets say Osgood -- comes here for 2 million, legace will be gone. There's a slight increase in salary. Then we resign Dats and Zetterberg, that takes up most of our cap room. Detroit may sign some other ppl if possible close to the league minimum to fill out the last remaining 6 or 7th defensemen or third/fourth line player... i dont see them doing much else.

Yeah he's not Lidstrom but I'd say he's good enough for only 1.1 million
