WCF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Penguins 4
RockyMountainWingGal replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Poor effort for such a pivotal game. Wings need to refill the tank because it is looking EMPTY. Hossa is an easy target because essentially he is a one year rental to win the Cup. But really this guy needs to step up big time - fancy work around the goal means nothing in the SCF if you net none of them. Who cares about who he dines with off the ice - just score some goals brother. Our home PO record favors the Wings, plus I don't see them losing 3 in a row... Go Wings Game 5 - stick it to the Pens!! -
Apparently he didn't get the memo that THIS was game 4.
-
If the Wings want to take control of this series they will get Pavel in the lineup. Not sure what is taking so long - there are only a few games left.... I don't doubt his desire, it just seems odd to keep keeping him out of SCFs games if he can practice.....
-
How does he know?
-
I would think most fans of Eastern Conference teams want nothing to do with Crosby and the Pens winning. The West, most probably are tired of the Wings. But I've seen quite a few favorable posts towards the Wings also....
-
Who? This is just getting ludicrous. I actually feel bad for Avs fans at this point....

WCF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Penguins 4
RockyMountainWingGal replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
There are always lots of Wings fans around - don't be afraid of Penguins - be proud!! I can't take today: Pavel in, Pavel out, Pavel in, Pavel out, i'm hoping and praying for "in" right now. Must win tonight - Wings will bring their A game - MIA so far these first 3 games. Pens won't be able to match them if they do.... Unfortunately, I'll be out for most of this one. Might catch the third live, but will have to DVR! Go Wings! -
All I'm saying is that having 6 men on the ice for over 20s in the SCF is just ridiculous and has much more POTENTIAL to affect the outcome of a series, than the same non-call would have during the regular 82 game season. If you look at the body of the Wings work the entire game 3 - it's true one cannot just blame that non-call for the loss, that's a cop out. The game was tied going into the third and the Wings only put up 3 SOG. Nonetheless I still think it's egregious to not catch that call - if it was 5s or so you understand. At least with the BJs the 6th man was leaving the ice (although the guy coming on touched the puck). In this case 6 guys were in on the play. And no I don't want a coach challenge in the NHL, I was just pointing out that a college football team won a national title on a 5th down.... that's far worse than the NHL imo....

btw if you look at some of the Avs boards, a fair number of them are actually rooting for the Wings to win, ironically. There have been some heated debates over whether any true Avs fans could ever root for the Wings. The rivalry is a thing of the past.... Personally, I find it more fun when the Avs are good, and we still beat them. The only thing I might benefit from this is some cheaper tickets and empty seats.....
-
Is that a regular season game vs. the Preds or a PO game from last year? A bit of a difference when it happens in the SCF and might sway the series.... Edit: on a side note, remember the "5th down" touchdown by Colorado in 1990? They needed a TD to win at the end of the game and scored on 5th down - wasn't called back (no reviews at that time). Went on to an undefeated (tainted one) season..... Colorado 5th down
-
Absolutely none. I live in Denver and have watched the local news/read newspapers etc. Completely ridiculous. Offer Roy the job w/o having a plan for Granato, Roy declines, let go Granato, now back to square none. Who would want to coach here right now? No permanent GM, cap problems, AND a bad team on the ice. The only thing they have going for them is the 3rd pick - not sure if it's possible, but maybe they will screw that up too.... As a Wings fan, I find this somewhat amusing. As someone who buys tickets in this market and supports the NHL, I don't like it....I'd rather have a somewhat competitive team

Malkin is a funny straight forward guy - coming out of his shell a bit this post-season. I like him ALOT more than Sid, probably because he doesn't get all the press, but still Malkin has never done or said anything that bugs me. Even his fighting Z I thought showed some passion....maybe Sid can learn from him...

Hossa to be re-signed after postseason
RockyMountainWingGal replied to TheGoonSquad0208's topic in General
I'd say Sammy has sold himself this POs - for a guy making 1.2mill and putting up 5G 4A 9P, two of those GWG and +7. I'm not for or against re-signing him. Just pointing out that for his salary he does contribute (just please keep him off the PP Babs).... -
Oh i Think Dats is a go - he has to play so we can close in on this series ASAP - the "game time decision" is just to keep the Pens off guard - that's my best fan guess anyways. And he doesn't need to rack up points like some are suggesting, just garner attention his way and give Malkin something to think about..... I'm psyched for some Datsyuk!!

Hossa to be re-signed after postseason
RockyMountainWingGal replied to TheGoonSquad0208's topic in General
Hossa's 2 goals in game 4 vs. the Ducks were pivotal in that series. So essentially he came through in one crucial game vs. the Ducks and he gets full credit for that. The Wings beat the BJs and Hawks without the game 4 goals from Hossa, not taking anything away from him, the Wings are just that much better than those two teams. If Hossa can come through again tomorrow night, he will have fulfilled an important role on this team in the POs. Personally, I just question whether that role is worth 7 mill per season......it's all about the money. -
I used to dislike Granato (purely for being the Avs coach) but I slowly started to take his side. The Avs organization is in total disarray. Good for Tony - he should leave and never come back this time. This leaves them with no coaching staff, & no permanent GM not long before the draft - and they have the 3 pick. I have no idea what has happened to this org., maybe Kroenke has decided to focus on the Nuggets for awhile....

Hossa to be re-signed after postseason
RockyMountainWingGal replied to TheGoonSquad0208's topic in General
I expected a little more from Hossa in the POs. When you see our top guys like Hank out there stepping it up a notch to make up for Datsyuk's absence, you kind of expect he should too since he's a top paid forward. I'm just not seeing it though. I think he has been good, but better that Flip, Franzen, Cleary, or Helm, guys that all make half or much much less than him? I don't think so. Hossa was a rental this year and I hope he gets his Cup, but I'm not seeing a long term contract for alot of money benefiting the Wings. If the rumor were true for 7 yrs (which i doubt) Wings fans will all be bitching in 2 or 3 years about his cap hit..... I'll root for him as long as he is a Wing and fully expect him to notch his two series goals in Game 4. Holland is ten steps ahead of all of us internet junkies - signing Franzen before the POs looks like a genius move right now. -
Funnest player to watch on the ice right now - for EITHER team. We just need a few of our other top guys to step up like that and this thing is done - Hank can't do it alone! (well he almost can)
-
The show has gone way downhill this year imo. I DVR it and flip through it a few times per week. They seem to have rotating hosts now. Both E.J. Hradek and Don LaGreca have contract disputes with their other employers doing the show (don't ask me why?). Hradek was gone the first half of the year, now LaGreca has been gone for quite awhile. The show was much better with the consistency of those 2 guys, and occasional guests. Now you tune in and different people each day, some of whom are not so good....
-
Exactly. But less PPs somehow favors the Wings because the Pens would actually have to win 5 - 5. If they really wanted to be consistent than Malkin wouldn't be playing tonight. Don't bend the rules to keep him in the game, then turn around and bend them the other way once his suspension was rescinded. I expect the Wings to have to beat the Pens and the Refs in Pitt - just like last year.....

Hossa to be re-signed after postseason
RockyMountainWingGal replied to TheGoonSquad0208's topic in General
Yes I'm listening to this too. Cannot tell if they were just speculating or they have some source on this? Doesn't sound reasonable that something would leak from the Wings in the middle of the SCF....they need to focus on the games and not have Hossa, or any other unsigned players worried about this right now... -
There isn't any hard evidence either way - although it's looking like Pavel is out tonight, which I think we all expected. My bet is he'll come back for Game 4, but I would love to see #13 suit up ASAP - why let the Pens back in the series?
-
What are you crazy? If a Hart candidate is even 75% healthy you put him out there. Hank could use some help shutting down the dynamic duds...... even if Pavel cannot be a scoring force coming back his defense could surely help us....
-
That doesn't necessarily say so much about AO than how bad the Caps really are. They play in an atrocious division (8 games vs Fla, Tampa, & Atlanta - that would kill me to watch that). They have no defense (Green = only scores all those goals in the defenseless East), and some decent but not deep secondary scoring (Semin etc).

Malkin's penalty rescinded (merged)
RockyMountainWingGal replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
Yeah my bad I meant a point on each of the goals....point is he's been on the board for each of their 2 goals so as far as scapegoats I'd look to some of the other Pens...
