Anyone else going to gm. 3 tonight?

I'll be at game 4 too - too far up in the nosebleed area to toss anything though. Plus i would surely get bounced from the Pepsi center for that! We should have a LGW meeting area somewhere inside of Pepsi Center... lol

Red Wings practice facility in Denver?

They used to practice at the Promenade Ice Center in Westminster a few years ago - not sure how you can find out if that is still where they go. Heck call the arena and ask just google it....Another option would be the Lowry ice arena - the name escapes me...

    Avs Remembering 1999

I know I already got a concede email from an Av's fan. I told her to wait 'til after game 3 and see what happens....yeah it looked bad but as a Wings fans, I'm still always nervous. And...I'll be at game 4.

    Avs Remembering 1999

Well they have nothing else to look for. Can't blame them for trying ANYTHING to get their team playing better. Seriously this Avs team has some total mental block when it comes to the Wings. They are hoping that 1) Theo plays about 1000x better, 2) Floppa comes back and can actually make a huge impact, and most importantly 3) the Wings let off the pedal a bit and allow the Avs back into the series. As long as Babs keeps this team focused and we don't have any lapses like vs. the Preds the Wings will be fine.

    Lidstrom

Ah he's a Taurus - just like Stevie Y and myself. Happy Birthday Nick - may you be blessed by the hockey Gods with some special gifts this year!!!

    Melrose - coming around?

This guy's blatant hatred for the Wings is just ridiculous - but at the same time I find it humorous. You can see how disappointed he is that the Avs didn't kick the Wings - but he did at least give us a few compliments. I actually kind of enjoy that he always picks against us (except he did pick us vs the Preds which worried me lol). He does have some manlove for "Nicky" Lidstrom though - always has compliments for him - kind of in a jealous, twisted way. This is equally funny: Melrose: Avs in 6

Theodore to start Game 3; Forsberg hopeful

omg I had on Denver radio today and almost fell over when I heard Coach Q say he intends to start Theodore in game 3. Wings have got to be in this guy's head - they must take advantage and shell him from the getgo. Who knows what he's thinking - maybe he thinks it's hopeless and he might as well start the guy - who knows. We shelled Theodore last time the Wings played in Denver (went to that game - hehe). Hey I think I'm going to game 4 so I fully expect to see Budaj in net by then. Go Wings - give Jose the "Flu" again!

    Avs At Tigers Game

Hey they have good taste going to a Tigers game. I don't know if fans here realize how good they have it with Sakic. He's such a quiet low-key guy. When the Avs first came here over ten year ago - I remember there was an article in the Denver Post that a motorist had car trouble on the interstate - and Joe Sakic pulled over and helped them out.... Now Floppa on the other hand, I think is a complete fake, just something about him - but Avs fans I swear love him more than Sakic - which I feel is unjustified...

    Can/Should the Wings Sweep Colorado?

OMG this thread is freaking me out One win and someone has to shout the "S" word!! They (the Avs) played well in the end and almost tied the game there - w/o Theodore and Floppa, and now you're calling the series?? Were you one of the Wings fans posting in the Denver Post today about how we are going to kick their a$$? that was freaking me out too. It's one win (a close one at the end) in a 7 game series. As many have said, please don't jinx us!!! Let's just hope for a W in game #2 at this point!

    Avalanche injury status

I'm not even so sure it's the groin - always suspected the ankle too. Even Avs columnist Terry Frei is suspicious: "DETROIT - When Peter Forsberg wasn't able to play down the stretch of the regular season at Minnesota on March 30 because of his ankl ... er, groin problem, Avalanche coach Joel Quenneville took a simple route, hoping to minimize the effects on line combinations he believed were working well."

    Avalanche injury status

Actually it says for the rest of the second round (which is the rest of the playoffs for them ). Denver post says "indefinitely" The Avs got further bad news today when it was revealed first-line left wing Wojtek Wolski will be out indefinitely, with an upper body injury, most likely to his ribs. He was injured after a collision between Avs defenseman Ruslan Salei and Detroit's Johan Franzen when Franzen ran into him. Would prefer to beat them with all players in...BUT they played OK late w/o those guys so will be tough going anyhow...

    I want the Avs

I watch most of their games - and go to quite a few - they are far more 'rough and tumble' than they have been in the past. LaPerriere is a cheap shot artist much of the time - he's the kind of guy you love to have on your team - but despise on the opposition. I'm not just talking about the hit on Nick (which i was angry about but didn't flame him for - that's his game). Downey running Lappy as you describe it was BECAUSE of the hit on Nick. Their homers here on the radio think they should run Dats and Z because they are soft (yeah it's not the team it's the dumb analysts i know) but at the same time they want all hands off their "Stars". Double standard. I think they will try something cheap - I hope not and I very sorry to say that - but with that idiot Granato on the bench stirring things up - I wouldn't doubt it.

    Pang: Avs in 6

Yes they are in NY and most of the callers are from the East. BUT they do try to analyze the West - and usually there is at least one caller about the Wings per day. Plus, Nick was on this week after he got nominated for the Norris.

    Pang: Avs in 6

Stastny and Wolski? Neither has ever been in the post-season. Wolski was personna non grata here in Denver all year - didn't live up to expectations. Statsny has an underachieving series vs. the Wild. Forsberg-Sakic-Hejduk looks great on paper....BUT that is like us pulling Federov-Yzerman-Shanny off the shelf right now. All are past their prime and some with serious injury problems. Not that they are not a threat but this is NOT the 2001-2 team folks. I'll agree with you that Franz Flip and Cleary are not a seasoned playoff threat - but saying Stastny and Wolski are better I think is just not correct....we shall see in a few hours...

    I want the Avs

I disagree. Wolski had a horrible year. Stastny was not very good vs. the Wild. Forsberg cannot skate anymore because of his ankles - what I mean by that is he is way slowed down - BUT he does still possess outstanding puck handling skills - which is his best weapon at this point. Hejduk has never been scary imo. Brunette is playing well and Sakic is, well Sakic. Seriously though I think our forwards can match up with them any day. If you gave me Sakic/Forsberg in their prime of course I'd take them over Dats/Z but not today. The only reason their D is even respectable is because they picked up Foote and Salei at the deadline. It drops off fast after that. Kurt Sauer? I'm not trembling (not that they should be scared of Lilja or Lebda). The factor that worries me most about the Avs is - because they have lost more of the their skill game the past few years (OK they are trying to get it back with Floppa et al I know) they have gone to some more goonish tactics - I'm afraid they will try to hit our guys with the intent to injure - has kind of been their way this season with several teams.

    I want the Avs

I disagree that the Avalanche are a "great" team. I think they have some great players - but their problem this season has not been playing well as a "team". Part of that has to do, yes, with all the injuries they had - and how long alot of those guys were out. Plus the F&Fs weren't here so they really haven't gelled as a group. I went to a handful of Avs games this year (including both Wings victories ) and they were very unimpressive - including Theodore - who didn't really get the nod as the starter until late in the season. BUT, I have not been to a game since the trade deadline and seen the new Avs "look". They will be a tough out for sure, but Babs can own Qville and if the Wings play vs. them like they did in all 4 reg season games we will win the series.... I am anticipating a huge hit by Kronner on Floppa maybe?

My bad - 5:30 Denver and Avs time - thus the announcment here, 7:30pm at the Joe.

    Norris Trophy Finalists

Supporting cast? You mean like Lilja and Lebda on defense??? :rotflmao:

    Norris Trophy Finalists

Phaneuf is a great defenseman. In fact he could easily be the second best D-man in the league right now. Unfortunately for him, the gap between the #1 D-man and everyone else is phenomenally large. Were Nick's numbers more "human" the race for the Norris would be much tighter. Someday for him, when Nick retires.

    I want the Avs

These yokels were all crying "bring on the Wings" after they beat the Wild. Soooo, let's go Wings and bring it on! This is all I'll hear about in Denver for the next few days. They keep painting themselves as "an entirely different team than the one that got smoked 4-0 by the Wings in the regular season". Forsberg = not the same player. Still has good puck handling moves, but slower with ankles ready to fall apart any second. Out of hockey for a almost a year - Wings can contain him. Smyth: great pickup for the Dives. But.....did not impress me that much this year. When other guys were out of the lineup (and he was too quite a bit) he didn't step it up. Stastny: first postseason. Not great during the Wild series. Not a threat vs the Wings imo Hejduk: never been a really big fan. OK depth player but is lost when Sakic or other top lines guys are out. Sakic: older beat up version but still the only guy on the team that is a legitimate threat night in and night out to bury those crucial goals. Will be a big factor in this series. defense: was NONEXISTANT until they picked up Foote and Salei. Foote has had injury probs until the start of the POs. Good top D-line for them not, but hey we are NOT the Wild. Theodore: best player for the Avs vs. the Wild. I just don't see him keeping that same auro vs. Wings though. I'll take my chances vs Jose. Game 1: Thurs at 5:30 - go WINGS! I say Wings in 6 - don't let me down or the Divalanche fans here in Denver won't let me hear the end of it!!

    GDT: 4/17 Other Playoff Games

Of course they are the luckiest bastards in the West. First they draw playoff inexperienced Minny instead of Wings,Sharks,Ducks or Stars. The Minn loses 2 of it's defensmen. Of course, watching the game tonight, I felt the Wild outplayed them for most of the night except for a few lucky shots - outshot them by about 2-1 but nothing to show for it. That's the breaks in the NHL playoffs I suppose. This Avs team was full of holes all season - Q is an average coach - they are just benefiting from their situation - can't really blame them - just irritates me that they haven't been exposed.......will come, must be patient.

    Sharks Flames Feed

^^ didn't test that link but try this also: http://www2.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid...amp;part=sports if you have windows media player the feed for that is decent...good luck!
  23. RockyMountainWingGal

    why?

There should be no national blackouts - period! If the game is on Versus AND your local FSN - so be it - then you - as the consumer - get to CHOSE which station you want to watch it on. Some will prefer the local broadcasters, some the national. After all, we are the ones PAYING for these services. I get stuck with the local yokels when my market game in Denver is on Versus and ALT - but as a paying consumer it should be my choice! The best you can do is i) call and complain and ii) stream it online anyways. I had to stream last night because my damn directv went out because of snow.

    Time for a new captain?

There have been some questionable threads following the Wings' losses the last two games, but this is undoubtedly the stupidest. I cannot afford to waste minutes of my life reading the entire thread - but looks like thankfully noone agrees with you. Let's take a quick quiz: How many Norris trophies does Lidstrom have on his shelf? What was the Wings' record with Lidstrom out of the line-up this year? How many times had the Wings been to the WCF since 2002 before Nick was made Captain? Who led the team in points in last years' playoffs? What other Captain can you think of that led by example with his on-ice play? Shall I continue? Apart from playing goalie himself (see Sharks game 6 last year) there is nothing Nick can do if we have a complete sieve in net.....Wings fans should be proud we have such a Captain.

    Hasek threads

Hasek has been horrible the last two games - I would say the reason we lost. But...I don't blame him for that, it falls on the Wings organization. They took a big gamble with bringing him back last season - age and injuries and all. It worked out great last year - I can't complain as a fan. This year it was looking pretty good too because they split his time with Ozzie. But the big question of course is the playoffs, and if he can't hold up (which is what it looks like after tonight), then they've lost the gamble this year. As a fan, I knew going in this was a big gamble, even more so this year, so I can gripe at management for their decision, but I was willing to give it a shot too. Alas, I have to say as a fan it would be better to stick with Ozzie now - at least let's try to win this series with him then re-evaluate. Hasek will be gone next year no matter what - time to move on. I really think tossing curses at a HOF GT is kind of wrong. He's not the Dom of 02 - I would have loved it as a WIngs fan if he could play like that, but to expect it is kind of unrealistic at this point. I just hope someone plays solid in net for us the rest of this series.
