Dang- The Pistons are getting worked by the Nuggets. I live in this town and follow the Nuggets - and Detroit should have no trouble taking it to them. The Nuggs su*& - the only reason they're winning their division is 'cause it's the worst in the NBA. Well I sure hope they pull it together hear in the second half - there's no excuse for not beating this team....
-
I'd give them Arroyo as a mere gift! I haven't given up on Darko just yet though. I'm more worried about the Spurs winning at this point then I am about the Pistons losing - but one way or another they do need that homecourt!
-
As long as they have the best record at the end of the season - that's all that counts. Yeah there's a bit of a scare since a few teams in the West are playing hot right now - and the WC really sucks this year. I actually think losing a few games might not be so bad for the Pistons - it takes the heat off of the much-talked-about record breaking run. They're not going to do it, nor should they try since that's not the most important goal of the season. p.s. I agree that Arroyo has to go. It's utterly painful to watch that guy out there playing basketball - yikes!

Well I live in Denver and I've been hearing alot of Broncos fans complaining about the Super Bowl ref-ing going the Steelers' way. I personally think they're just mad they got beat by that team and didn't want them to win..... Also, in the New England game, Denver got all the calls and breaks. I like the Patriots but I admit they definitely did not deserve to win that game - regardless of the refs. I didn't hear any complaints about that here. Same went for the SB - Seattle didn't play well enough to win. Pittsburg wasn't having a great game like they'd had the past several weeks - but they made the plays when it counted. Congrats to the Steelers - Big Ben is cool (don't you wish we had a guy that that here in Denver ). Bettis deserves his ring - class act.
-
Yeah I know. I'm just stating that when it's the Lions' turn to get a top draft pick they wind up with a dud. Other teams wind up with stars. Houston will get lucky with any of the top three this year.

Yeah what a crappy women's final - tuned in for the end of the 6-0 first set. I left for a few minutes and it was over - I can't belive that girl (Henin) just up and quit. Stomach bug right..........just reiterates my hopes for a Sharapova-Clijsters final were justified. I saw the replay of the Federer match - I didn't know the score since it didn't make the morning paper - I really though Bagdatis (sp?) was going to win after the first set - but how stupid of me, Superman put his cape back on and the match got very boring from then on.............. See you in a few months for the next tourney....
-
Nothing less than an NBA tragedy if that selfish jerk wins the MVP or anything else. Sorry, not a fan - he's just about reason enough NOT to watch the NBA.
-
Yup that was a great women's semifinal last night. I thought Sharapova was going to take her - couple of bad calls aside I thought she came real close. I hope she gets just a little better and gets back into finals. Not too interested in the women's now. I was pulling for Clijsters on the other half - Mauresmo doesn't thrill me. The all Belgian final would have been fun. I'm not a big Henin-Hardenne fan but I'd bet on her winning. p.s. cool pics above

Harrington was not a #1 pick...he was picked 3rd overall. Oops - doesn't matter. He was way overdrafted nonetheless. The Lions are cursed - with other teams getting guys like Roethlisberger, Palmer, Manning etc it only figures that the Lions wind up with someone that doesn't live up to expectations like Harrington.....
-
Who cares - he's on a crappy team and pretty much shoots the ball on every possesion. I personally think he's the biggest DI$) in the NBA - he'd rather achieve a personally feat like having 81 points on a crappy team than share a title with Shaq.......
-
Not the best Aussie Open if you ask me. I'm interested a bit in Hingis' return and possibly having Davenport in the finals again. On the men's side - pretty boring. With Hewitt, Roddick out it's pretty much going to be Federer blows out fill in the blank for the rest of the tournament. Not that either of those guys had a shot anyhow....

Our backup QB is Charlie Batch right now. He started and won at Green Bay for us. I believe he broke his thumb in the Cleveland game he also started and won for us. We lose that game and we miss the playoffs. I have confidence in Charlie but if we have to bring in Maddox as our emergency QB we're f***ed. Maddox hasn't been the same since he got whacked v the Titans a few years ago. We lost the game at the Ravens with Maddox as our starter and Antwan Randle El as our 2nd string QB. hey! the lions would take BOTH charlie batch AND tommy maddox right now. Isn't it ironic how the Steelers get a guy like Roethlisberger in the first round and the Lions wind up with a guy like Harrington with the #1 pick? OK no more talk of the Lions in a playoff thread. I think if the Steelers play anywhere close to how they did last Sunday they will win the game this weekend. The Broncos didn't do anything impressive last weekend - the Patriots beat themselves with 5 turnovers. The Broncos weren't moving the ball all that well vs the Pats D - scoring only 3 pts on offense (other 24 from turnovers) - the Steelers D I think is better. Anyhow go Pittsburg! Listening to the Broncos fans is *almost* as bad as listening to the Avs fans.

OK you people need to realize something. It doesn't matter who the new coach is - it could be Donald Duck. Millen su&&s and the owners aren't far behind. The only good football that is going to be coming to Detroit is in 2 1/2 weeks.
-
I think he meant the Steelers deserved to win - and they did. Hey I feel really bad for the guy - you just don't recover from your son's death. I don't think Indy's been together since that incident - a very unfortunate circumstance for them. I'm not a Colts fan but as a football fan I would like to see the Peyton Manning play in the Superbowl. I think Pittsburg might just go ahead and beat Denver. The Broncos are sooooo excited to be playing the Steelers instead of the Colts - they should be very careful of what they wish for..... Anyway you put it none of the potential SB matchups seem all that exciting for me - I'll still watch - but mostly for the Rolling Stones!!!
-
It's January 12th and the Lions haven't canned Millen yet? Every other losing team in the NFL is making all of their front office/coaching changes right now. The Lions are so pathetic I can only laugh at the mention of them, the title of this thread kind of says it all. "Detroit Lions - you have got to be kidding me?"
-
Total butt-whipping of the Spurs - in their house! Have to say i thoroughly enjoyed that one - I couldn't believe they were already up by 20 when I got home from work! Only 68 pts scored by the Duncan and co. Damn - why couldn't we have smoked them like that just one more time last June????
-
Can they permanently suspend him from the team? Guess I'm not a big Arroyo fan.
-
Unfortunately it's supposed to be warm here Saturday - 47 deg F at kickoff. I enjoy the blizzard games myself. I wouldn't place Jake in the "great" QB column just yet - unless he wins this game. Ditto on the go Pats.
-
I haven't paid much attention but I saw on the ticker that all of these players withdrew. Agassi doesn't surprise me. I really like to watch Safin and thought he would defend his title. Alicia Molik was really fun to watch last year - maybe that was her big day in the sun - who knows. Anyhow I will be watching when play gets underway - alot of matches come on here late eve-night so I get to see them live!
-
I've heard the "disrespected" thing from just about every team this year - bunch of bullcrap jargon I agree - even from Brady. The Broncos (at least their fans) have been complaining about getting no respect for about 2 months - they are favored in the game afterall. I pulled for the Broncos for years - esp when they had Elway - but nowadays there really isn't anyone on their team I find cheer-worthy. I'm not even a Pats fan (but obviously I'm a big Brady fan) - I just find it interesting that every time you think they're finally done - they pull a rabbit out of their hat......I have to say it's been fun to watch. btw, there are more people calling in the airwaves here supporting Brady now than Plummer - poor Jake, he seems to be stuck with an image problem (literally this year with the caveman look).
-
All roads lead to Detroit - hmmm that just doesn't sound right when you're talking about the NFL. I'll be pulling hard for the Patriots in Denver here this weekend. All of the local Brady-bashing is making me barf - what a bunch of jealous punks. Unfortunately I think the Broncos have an edge - hopefully the Pats will work some of their playoff magic....

1/8 GDT: Detroit Red Wings Vs. Dallas Stars
RockyMountainWingGal replied to WhiteLightning91's topic in General
I didn't see the game myself (good thing it seems), but this doesn't bode well for Osgood imo. The Wings are going to rotate the two goaltenders in some fashion. He has to be able to play well after having a whopping two games off. That's just the bottom line. I think the Wings are going to give Legace his shot now and see what happens. Hey I like Ozzie well enough and all but if he needs to start in 70+ games per year he should have stayed in St. Louis.... -
Great final game - I'm glad Texas won. Let someone new win the big one. I felt that Young got overlooked for the Heisman - but I'm sure he wouldn't consider trading his ring in for the trophy! Kudos to Pete Carroll - class act at the end there. I concure that Leinart was a very sore loser - he had a great run and already has 2 rings - can't really feel too sorry for him. Unfortunately. this overtakes the Texas-UM game for best Rose Bowl - oh well...here's to next fall when we all get to start over again!

Alamo Bowl-Michigan vs Nebraska
RockyMountainWingGal replied to redwings1914's topic in Other Sports
Then you must have been born after 1984! The Wolverines went 6-6 that year and it's the last time they went unranked at the end of the season (pending this year). So that would make this the second worst season in my lifetime. Actually if you put it into perspective, yeah it was a horrible season, but Michigan is 348-100-8 in my lifetime for an average of 9.2-2.6-.2 Pretty damn impressive. We have never missed a bowl game during my lifetime either! I'm OK with having a mediocre season occasionally - all teams go through it. Ask the Buckeyes and Spartans about it. Michigan will be OK - they've stood the test of time. Look at Nebraska - they've had several very down years and now seem to be coming back up the ladder - happens to everyone. -

I don't understand that - even the announcers were saying the playclock was off - why didn't they correct it? What a bunch of incompetent f*&ks!
