    Ducks shopping federov?

I'm trying to envision what kind of situation the Wings would be in if they had signed Sergei to that 5 year 50 mill deal???? FedORov ain't coming back to the Wings - he was one of my favorite players, and the whole drama of his exit from Detroit is still painful ( ), but hey I've gotten over it and he's history as far as I'm concerned. I think he's content to just hang out on the beach personally....

    Lack of moves

I voted for Colorado because they lost two star players and have replaced them with peanuts...... (good article about this in today's Detroit News) Whereas teams like the Wings and Avs don't actually have cap space to make any moves, I'm quite perplexed by teams like Buffalo that have space, but sit around and do nothing. Wouldn't want to be a fan of those teams......

    Bertuzzi wants out of Vancouver?

If anything we were way two soft last, last season ( ). Name the "thugs" on the recent Wings... McCarty: didn't act like one much, was injured. Hatcher: only played a handful of games with the Wings - didn't commit much thuggery during those. Who else?

    Bertuzzi wants out of Vancouver?

Ha- that's exactly what I was thinking! I don't see it happening though. Naslund and Forsberg want to play together, similar to the Kariya and Selanne deal, will be interesting to see how this affects Vancouver.

    Brown Out

I'm a little confused about the whole Larry Brown thing. I've been out of town for awhile (ironically in Michigan but with little access to TV/newspapers) so I've only caught bits and pieces. I thought at the end of the season Joe Dumars gave him an open invitation to come back, depending on what the doctors said? Plus Larry himself stated over and over he was interested in remaining with the Pistons as their coach? Oh what a difference a few weeks makes. Personally, I think he should retire. The team jumping thing has gone a little too far - plus he's no spring chicken, has health concerns, and already got the elusive title under his belt...go figure.

    Defending Detroit

I always get into this argument with people out here about whether Detroit or Denver is a better sports town. The rhetorically response I always get is "well Detroit is just a dump" from people who have never been there. I just ignore them, there are certainly plenty of places out here that qualify as "dumps". I hope the All-Star game and Superbowl can help revive the city.

    Wimbledon

Really? I thought is was quite the match - 3 setter going into extra games at the end..... Many of the ladies' finals have been pretty one-sided - I wasn't sure who was going to win even when it was tied 6-6 in the third. Although Davenport does have the tendency to let down a bit towards the end of a match. Total powerball out there. I'm heart-broken about Roddick . Not that I didn't see it coming, but I thought he'd at least make a good match out of it this time. Federer has everything going for him - no 5-set matches, an extra day to rest... I think Roddick (and Hewitt) for that matter are both phenomenal players, there's just a big gap right now between #1 and everyone else.

    Wimbledon

So far I'm doing pretty good - Venus OR Lindsay will win the title. I'm impressed with Venus' comeback - where has this kind of tennis been for her???? Federer in - no brainer. Roddick in a rain delay - I'm hoping he makes it to the finals.....Can he or anyone beat Federer? That dude is looking pretty invincible right now.....

    NBA Draft 05

Well I'm still over Game 7, but any good new about the Pistons is still good to hear. They need to dump Arroyo for a better bench guy. Will be awaiting any Larry Brown news anxiously this summer.....

    Wimbledon

Pulling for Venus or Davenport - Venus is playing better, but I still think she has a ways to go to get back on track (really needs a professional coach - ditch the parents!). On the men's side, hoping for a rematch of Federer-Roddick with Andy pulling it out this time..... I like watching Safin, but he got bounced early - very streaky player - Marat you need a haircut! Hey Aussie wing - where is Alicia Molik -- she was fun at the Aussie open - I though we'd see more of her? Also, any chance of Patrick Rafter making a comeback - he retired kind of early......

Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

Good post above .... ^ I have to say that the last few years' Stanley Cup playoffs have been quite boring, at least imo. It doesn't help that the Wings flopped out early both years - with very disappointing performances. The Avalanche also had terrible playoff years - yeah I don't want them to win in the end, but they're fun to watch. The Ducks killed the playoffs for me two years ago - WCF Ducks vs Wild - I'd rather watch golf..... Last year wasn't much better. I like the Lightning, but I wasn't all that thrilled about the series vs the Flames. I hope when the NHL does return, they will have a better product out on the ice - and I will still feel like I used to about the playoffs... here's hopin'.....

Yup, you still gotta love the Pistons effort. I agree it was probably over after the Game 5 debacle. BUT, they could have gone to San Anton and just laid an egg -- instead they put up a good fight - at least until the last quarter last night.... All I can say is at least the Pistons defended their title to the wire - for all you who are clamoring for the return of hockey, remember how the Red Wings defended their last title in the playoffs??? Wasn't pretty, was it? I'm sure I'll be glued to the set when hockey returns, but the Pistons have really gotten me back into basketball the last several years - plus the Nuggets out here are drastically improving and I sincerely hope they give the Spurs a run for their money in the West next year. Congratulations Pistons on a great 2005 season!

Pistons came to play........ However, Darko will be in before you know it, 'cause the whole rest of the team's gonna foul out.

lol - same could be said for us "if Billups had made just one of those layups in Game 5 Pistons would be champions now". Just seems to be the way the series is going.... Seriously though, wtf is up with Duncan on the line? Well, if anyone's got a shot at a road win in Game 7, it's sure this team. I think it's 50-50 who wins it all at this point. We might lose, but I don't see us completely falling apart in this one.... Should be a good game...se ya Thursday - Go Pistons!

Maybe, but come on, you never know? I didn't think there was anyway in hell they were going to win 2 vs Miami, esp game 7 away. If they can pull out a win tonight, anything is possible in a game 7. Unfortunately, they play poorly in San Antonio. But imo the Spurs haven't been anything to write home about - they've had plenty of brainfarts themselves this series. I just hope if the Pistons go down, they do it fighting, and don't get blown out of the water.... P.S. I think Pistons and Spurs fans are the ONLY ones watching this series - everyone else could care less......

Yeah it's almost impossible to defend against someone that's having that kind of streak - they could have obscured his shot all they wanted and who knows, it still might have gone in... tough one --really thought in OT the Pistons were going to win. Duncan fizzled out - Ginobli was *reasonably* contained -- Spurs were indeed a one-man show there at the end.

F*&$ Ginobli - someone needs to knock him on his butt - and soon.....

God we can only hope! Holy "smoke'amoly, was that the same team as from Game 2 the other night? I only wish Game 5 was Saturday instead - too much time for the Spurs to rest and put this one out of their heads...and for the Pistons to get rusty. How the hell do you top that performance? Well, if anything, this has turned into a good *series*.

At least the Suns made a run at it in all of the games they lost vs the Spurs. This is just plain embarassing. Yes we do need the "Bad Boys" back, 'cause nobody out there in a Pistons uniform qualifies as such! Where's Bill Laimbeer? Suit him up and send him in - couldn't be worse than this bunch. Hell, put Darko in to start the next game - shy not?

Man that was one ugly half of basketball... Not sure I can stomach the grand finale - but I'll try to hang in there for awhile... yikes Larry Brown needs to get ahold of this team. Nuggets and Suns were each able to at least take a game at San Antonio...Pistons just look totally lost out there....

Too late - Larry Brown has mental issues if he's playing that guy already - depressing!
