Are you assuming Calder returns to the Flyers after the season? Because if you haven't heard, he's a Red Wing this morning. I could see him returning, though. He played like crap, but apparently likes it there.
-
Not sure I understand why they'd move Biron and acquire Conklin. It HAS to be a pre-cursor to another move... what are Biron and Conklin's cap numbers?
-
Now the report has rescinded the Flyers report and replaced their logo with a question mark. Craziness. Poor Marty. Deserves a better fate than Philly this season.

I am reading a report saying it's the Flyers.

Fantastic point. Let's not forget where Lilly pants came from... he played a few seasons down there... perhaps they miss him??? One can dream... -
I loved this commercial (and the Swedish twins one - I got a toonie... COOL!) How funny is Ovechkin's order? "Three lobsters. Lots of Ketchup"

According to the same link, which posts all AHL transactions, Ellis hasn't been sent back down. Maybe they're preparing to put Cleary on IR.
-
Whaaa? Ellis and now Hussey. Bizzare-o. Maybe they're just keeping a revolving door to Grand Rapids. Matt Ellis didn't make any sort of lasting impression last game...

HAHA. I was going to stay out of this conversation, but it's nice to find someone else who rags on the Blues for being the most worthless hockey franchise in NHL history... I expect much more of the same, and feel free to get that crow ready, because I'll eat a boat-load if they actually advance to, or win, the Stanley Cup Finals.

WATCH YOUR ASS - HERE COMES HOCKEYCRAZY..... But in all honesty, I'm not a huge Osgood fan, but he did play very well. That Kariya goal was kind of weak, and the backhand from Legwand could have been stopped, but that game wouldn't have turned out differently with Hasek in net.... for once EDIT: DAMNIT, GIRL! Beating me to it... I was trying to be snarky

In keeping with the spirits of today's threads - which all seem to be brawl / funny fight-related - I thought you'd get a kick out of this... It was linked from the "Very quick fight" thread video... Watch closely and Brad Norton and Aaron Downey square off... a historic battle ensues.

Traded for a 7th time. Return was simply a fifth round draft pick. I like that price. Come on down, sellers! http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=197340&hubname=nhl

1270 Sports: Babcock says "players will be dealt"
JeeSpot82 replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
In other news, Friday will now follow Thursday, and the Sun will rise in the East. -
That really would be ideal. Of course, when Sammy does come back - there's going to need to be a rotation of Filppula/Hudler/Williams/maybe even Cleary that would have to sit out... and no one wants that. Okay, maybe Williams.
-
Yeah, but when Samuelsson gets back - that's when Langfeld goes. Why bother keeping MacDonald this week if you have no intentions of playing him again, ya know?

Proof once again that God is, in fact, a Red Wings fan. Like other posters have said above me, it's not a salary move - he didn't make enough money to really be saving much of anything at this point in the season... it's the wasted roster spot that he's filled all season long. This way, if we acquire a player for a draft pick or a prospect, NO ONE on the current roster needs to be sent down (read: Flip, because Hudler would have to be waived). I've been one of the loudest opponents to Joey MacDonald lately, but he clearly did not fit in on an NHL roster - especially this one. I wish him the best of luck, health, and success wherever he can find it, but the time has come to move on and have a Detroit Red Wing fill that roster spot.
-
I'll never be one of those people that says "OH MAN! WE SHOULDA GOT HIM!" and I don't in any way want Anson Carter on the Red Wings. However, I will agree with you, Mr. Hank, a potato sack filled with Anson Carter's dread locks is an improvement over Jason Williams.
-
I don't think it's that he's WORRIED about fighting - he seems to enjoy it (watch him throw his gloves and prepare). I think he just likes to observe and wait for his moment (find the video of him KO-ing Boulerice) to strike. I would bet he's been trained as a boxer - he's not a typical "brawler" who throws haymakers until his hand is broken.
-
What's impressive about this story is that it's very difficult to yank down your pants (especially if you're a goalie) enough to get a full ass exposed - which is the only kind of ass that makes for good mooning. Attaboy.
-
I agree with you. They LOVE being the first to put stuff on their website, and then it magically disappears a few minutes later. Wait until the actual trade deadline. It's more reliable than Hockey Buzz, but far less than TSN.
-
He's also on the playoff-bound Dallas Stars. Why would they become sellers, or trade with a conference rival, and even a potential first round match-up?
-
I'm inclined to agree. I don't mind the idea of the "rental player," however I don't like that he may re-sign with the team from which he was dealt. I don't want to see an automatic year added to a contract, because as a free agent-to-be, its his right to determine what moves are best for himself and his family. And unless he has a no-trade clause that he must waive, he's not always in control of where he ends up at the deadline. However, I wouldn't mind a rule that said he can't return to his team via free agency immediately. To me, it seems that a player can't give his all for a team he doesn't care about being a part of - and what good is he to the new team if he's a St. Louis Blue at heart? For the team trading away "rental player," it should have to be clear that they have no intention, desire, or possibility of retaining the UFA-to-be to dish him away to the highest bidder. Otherwise, it seems an awful lot like acquiring players/assets for absolutely nothing. Acquiring a player shouldn't be a momentary thing. To be a member of the team, one can't offer his services for a month or two and then expect a bus ticket back to LA, St. Louis, or Philly.

Do they tell you midgame if someone in your family died? I hope it's not something that terrible. Perhaps he has a wife who's expecting? I know I've seen a Wing leave the bench during games to watch their children be born. That'd be great news for Max. Hope nothing's too bad for the Afinogenovs.

My faith in Joey MacDonald dropped from zero to negative SIX last game. So here's to hoping Dominik Hasek is alllll better. The Stars are a solid team (Philadelphia is not) and we could certainly use a win to regain the points we lost in Philly.
