85 pts in 109 games his first two seasons with the sharks. I wouldn't call that bad at all. Slow start to this season, but it's only 13 games. I wouldn't be panicking if I was the Sharks just yet. But boy he's owed $11.5 mil for the next 6 years after this one. They need him to perform. I understand the concern.

Word was that Holland offered Jim a job in Edmonton. And he turned it down. Didn't wanna deal with being away from his family in Canada with the Covid precautions. Elected to retire instead.

I've never seen a Dman more prone to panic than Cholowski. And we had Brendan Smith on this team for how many seasons? His composure is non-existent. Maybe he grows out of it, I just doubt it. He needs to make about 10 years of progress in that department in about 2 seasons. The guy abandoned the NCAA to go back to the CHL for good reason. He's completely exposed when any sort of higher level pressure is applied. I really don't see a future for him in this league.

I appreciate your impartiality. I was as shocked as anyone when DeAngelo cleared. I often forget that this league isn't soley a skill based league. It's a TV show we watch for entertainment. The built up hatred by fans for DeAngelo is impressive and I don't think any teams PR group or marketing team wanted to touch him with a grinch long pole. The accusations of racism continue despite his teammates vouching for him. There's really not much you can do with that at this point from a marketing perspective. Still agree with you about his play. I'd just point out that Cholo doesn't look to be capable of 53 pts in 68 games. DeAngelo has done this. At a bargain price I'd allow him to do this for us even if we have to shelter him behind Hronek and Seider in the near future.

I'll say it again. Is anyone really surprised? Danny Dekeyser is an awful Dman. He's always been an awful Dman. His career average is 22.5 pts a season. He's thin as a rail and doesn't play physical. He's not fast on his feet. His actual positioning in the defensive zone is on par with Kyle Quincey. And he makes $5 million a season... I watch the drum beating to get guys like Ericsson and Quincey off this team for years, but what flabbergasts me is how guys like DK can skate completely under the radar of fans. If you didn't like E or Q, you shouldn't be sparing DK... Now with this back injury and his leg being crippled it's over for him. He's gone from bottom pairing quality to completely useless. Good riddance. I will enjoy seeing that cap hit gone from the roster and hopefully we can leave him on LTIR for the remainder of his career.

You don't get to pick and choose what is reported. And it's been reported that he's well liked by teammates and coaches by every team he's ever played for. From the Rangers to the OHL. Sorry that doesn't align with your dog piling internet witch hunt agenda... Now even Marc Staal is coming forward speaking up for the guy. I agree with your assessment of his play. He's much like Torey Krug IMO. PP specialist, offensive weapon. We don't really need that on this team right now. That type of player is the cherry on top of the sundae. We hardly even have a bowl yet... However, we're not talking about Krug at $6.5 for 7 years. I would've taken that player at $4.8 mil for 1 and a half seasons. And best believe I'll be piping up to sign him this summer when he's bought out and signing somewhere for $1 million for 1 year. It's slowly coming out exactly how overblown his personal characteristics are. This is exactly the prime reclamation project we want. Heaven forbid this team receives a player that is outspoken and stubborn.... our powerplay is our enforcer and our passivity is outweighted by our skill per usual. I truly believe the exact opposite. He needs to be on a team with strong leadership like how it worked with Avery? How long did Avery work exactly? If I recall correctly he never played 82 games in Detroit. Because a HOF team doesn't need a divisive personality like Avery around. It's not about the leadership compensating for his personality, it's about not needing that personality at all in that lockerroom. We do not currently enjoy that luxury. What this team needs is strong personalities. Culture. Attitude. Confidence. Swagger. You're worried this will piss off Larkin? Guess what... Larkin is a loser and will always be a loser if he's continually coddled and insulated. Well you know, Namestnikov isn't that good, but boy he sure is agreeable. Lotta good that has done. Folks fail to remember that the foundations of the red wings dynasty were built on the backs of men who pissed in other guys cheerios. Only after men like Probert, Kocur, and Gallant shepherded this team into modernity did we have the balls to say "our PP is our enforcer". The only player with any sort of nuts on this team is Bertuzzi and it shows. DeAngelo has nuts just like Bertuzzi. I welcome this, not shy from it.

>multiple suspensions in the OHL >labeled as a well liked guy by teammates, but prone to immaturity and handling losing badly >suspensions during his time with TBL >suspensions during his time with ARZ At this point he's rightly labeled a hothead. Which brings us to his time with NYR. >no suspensions for multiple seasons with NYR Seems like his behavior and maturity has turned a corner. He's having career years and NYR gifts him a big contract. But now he has a bad start to the season, takes an unsportsmanlike, and gets benched for 2 games. Reacts badly to the benching and then makes a supposed sarcastic comment to Georgiev. Its hard to understand how this is the "final straw" for NYR. His time there has been without incident until now, and managment even describes him as well liked by teammates and coaches. Really seemed as if he had finally become a big boy and they invested big boy money in him. What's flying under the radar here is his social media presence. Hes a loud mouth twitter user who supports 45 and denies covid. He even gets into online spats with fans. This gets to the point where NYR bans him from using his social media. But hes polarizing and disliked by much of the fanbase at this point for things completely unrelated to hockey. Whether NYR will admit it or not, im quite convinced hes gone for this reason. And i dont blame them. You cannot have such a public image and openly be that polarizing online for any company. Social media was the first straws and the georgiev incident was just the final straw and excuse to cut a player hated by the fanbase from the team. My point here being: i think its completely short sighted and rudely simplistic to label the guy cancer. In fact hes been described as well liked by teammates pretty much eveywhere hes been. Hes a player who lacked maturity as a younger man, but was turning the corner the past few seasons on that. He shoulda just stayed off twitter the last few seasons. And for that hes stupid.

If TDA deserves violence for riding his goalie, then Georgiev definately deserves a few words for blowing the play. You can't have it both ways. Teammates fight all the time in the NHL. It happens literally in practices every year. And if you think words dont get exchanged in lockerrooms then I think you're a bit naive. But you literally never see guys treated like cancer and waived for this.... until now.

"Fought a teammate" Not according to the Athletic. Georgiev blew a play and lost the game in OT. DeAngelo gave Georgiev crap about it in the tunnel on the way back to the lockerroom. Georgiev turned around and punched DeAngelo, and then put him in a headlock. K'Andre Miller separated them. DeAngelo didn't fight anyone. In fact he was the one accosted, whether you think Georgiev was right to do it or not. Management already had a zero tolerance policy in place for DeAngelo. That if his name came up in any drama he was done. They made good on that policy. Now after the fact its come out that DeAngelo was well liked by teammates and coaches. He did not have problems with Miller (the black guy) and even collected his first goal puck for him. Kreider didn't have issue with DeAngelo and Kreider didn't assault DeAngelo. And Trouba has come to say they are sad to see him go. No doubt DeAngelo seems like a hot head and a loud mouth. He doesn't have a filter on twitter, and probably not in the lockerroom either, and it seems like NYR management hated that. Which is kinda surprising since past management put up with Avery for years not too long ago. I really think they backed themselves into a corner by benching DeAngelo early in the season and then issuing the no tolerance policy. When a pissed off TDA rejoined the team and inevitably got into some drama after a loss they had no other option but to stick to their guns and waive him. Now they find themselves in this weird situation where they are going to lose a 60+ pt Dman for nothing. And other teams seem content to let them buy him out. Then TDA will become a bargain Dman in the summer instead of a 4.8 million asset that no one can afford right now. My personal take is TDA is a low calorie Dman much like Torey Krug. An offensive specialist who you do not want eating big minutes. But if you can shelter him behind say Hronek and Seider, he's probably a helluva bargain point getter to have and use on the PP. About his personality... what culture and great lockerroom atmosphere are you guys trying to protect? I'm not worried about TDA coming to this team and wrecking anything, because everything's already wrecked. For petes sake we're talking about shipping off half the team and the coach soon anyhow. I for one almost hope he would join this team and ruffle some feathers. Everything about this team from coaching on down is uninspired, lethargic, and passive. This team needs a few players with bluster and cojones.

He was a 1st round pick... it's not like Yzerman threw him a bone and drafted him with a 7th. The kid is obviously incredibly skilled. Tied for 4th in scoring among Dmen last year. These kind of players don't just grow on trees. The crimes against him seem to be as follows: >suspended for using slurs in juniors (we don't know what those slurs are) >slammed a door on an official in Arizona >rode his goalie in NYR for blowing a game, the goalie proceeded to punch him and put him a headlock Everything else is speculation or hearsay I'm not seeing how this kid is sucha public enemy that you wouldn't give him a chance on our backend. Everyone does and says some dumb things when they are young men. His crimes are mild compared to some. Probert was a party animal coke fiend on this team. Bertuzzi nearly killed a guy before coming to us. Datsyuk was a proud homophobe.... But now just being outspoken and a republican is enough to get you canceled in this league? Pretty dumb if you ask me. I'd take a chance on this kid all day. What do we have to lose? Him cussing out Blashill on the bench? I might stand and applaud if he did that to be quite honest... we can't sink any further guys...
