You don't think being pressed up against the cap with terrible contracts like those were a problem? There were a few UFA's I'm sure we wanted to throw more money at but couldn't. We couldn't make any big deadline day splashes like other contenders because we were against the cap. But that was years ago. We don't need to sign anyone since we're not contending. And we didn't lose any prospects because we didn't have any good enough to throw a bunch of money at. The way I see it is we don't need the cap space for the next few years, Fabbri was one of the few bright spots last year, so why not.

Those contracts were all given out when we were a way better team and bound for the playoffs...they all ended up hurting the team a bit, I think anyway.

So glad the Leafs or Penguins didn't get it...I can live with the Rags

Yeah I am still pretty sour about it. There's no way a bubble team should be picking top 3. It's even more annoying seeing teams with supposedly less than 2-3% get a top 3 pick in the last 3 drafts and this sh!t happens! I'm gonna be stewing on this for years, lol.

Lottery results still make me sick to my stomach thinking about it...but Raymond/Rossi/Perfetti getting so many great reviews lately is making it a bit easier

Fun fact, Johan Franzen and Kyle Brodziak contracts are officially done this summer...not that it mattered - but the fact that Johan's was 11 years makes me feel a bit old

I did read his knee was still bothering him...which is concerning, but maybe just giving him smaller work load for that reason

I dunno that it's a for sure thing that he's gone like everyone says...especially with the contracts Nemeth and Flip signed. He could very well be going full tank next year too - Ken Holland's unflinching loyalty has left me paranoid!
