I understand why Yzerman signed a bunch of UFAs and traded for a handful of others, but is it me or have these players regressed since donning the Winged Wheel? I don’t seem to recall most of them being so ineffective as they are now.

After this years playoffs - the extra mileage on the Stamkos odometer - I def can see him becoming another Legwand... Other than seeing a few UFAs leave (Kane, Ghost, Sprong) this team will be pretty much the same (Ed and possibly Kasper?) and the results won't likely change much either. -

My take is why potentially overpay at the deadline for a chance at playoff hockey? I could see what Holland had done - the streak and all, but for Yzerman - what does he gain if he has to send picks/prospects?

I'm not hoping for anything...We've achieved 'Minnesota Wild Mediocrity' where this team is mid pack - in the near future we'll have some seasons where we might make the playoffs - other seasons we won't. It's been frustrating.

After last nights OT loss - I would rather see this team fall apart and die rather than hold on thus giving us fans more false hope...By nature I'm a pessimist/realist - on paper we're barely good enough of a roster to sneak in to a wildcard spot - coaching staff on the other hand is AHL at best.

It is a lot to handle...I'll be honest in saying that I hope the Wings get their a$$e$ handed to them on this road trip so we don't have any more false hope...Just get it over with instead of a long painful drawn out ending...

Well - I'll defend Yzerman in that the guys you mentioned were/are in fact better than what we had (exceptions being Bertuzzi and Hronek).

This is Larkin's 9th season as a Red Wing and has seen action in 5 playoff games. Yzerman's 9th season saw him in 50 playoff games. It's gonna be a while...

I think this team needs a new direction starting with what we have behind the bench...We're likely stuck with some of the older vets, but maybe a different approach/style of play may get something outta this team next season.

Oh well...I'd just assume see Detroit get their a$$e$ handed to them for the remainder of this road trip so my hope of seeing them in the playoffs can finally be put to rest.

Indeed and truth be told I have a very hard time seeing this current Red Wings squad beating the likes of the Canes/Cats/Bolts/Rags.

Caps, Canes, Cats, Bolts, Rags, and then Sabres...At our current state of affairs going 1-5 is likely...Looks like that new patch is quite fitting for the end of this season.
