Well said ^. We really are 'Minnesota Mediocrity'...Seeing what Seattle gave up for Marchment - that was a solid move IMHO - Marchment would've solidified our top 6. Personally I'd rather see Yzerman move our 1st rounder (and more picks if needed) to land a quality roster player (be it a forward or defense - we need both). Not that he'd be my 1st choice, but I have to wonder what's the deal with Pettersson in Vancouver - is he a locker room cancer - is it a confidence issue? He just might be a better risk/option (and slightly cheaper cap space wise) than Marner (whom I hope Stevie makes a serious offer to). With this being a weak draft, a need for talented roster player/s, and a handful of prospects waiting in the 'Wings' - may as well swing for a trade/s, and/or offer deals to what might be deemed the best UFAs available.

Normally I'd expect 90 plus pts as well for that paycheck - however that financial albatross is sumthin I could see Vancouver wanting to part ways with...This is why I'd offer not much in return since one can argue the value of his contract. To me - regardless of his cap hit - would he make this team better - and would we possibly rid ourselves of some undesirable contracts too by sending them packing to Vancouver? According to many at HF Boards ASP is a bonafide star in the making...Forgive my ignorance, but is any 1 of the top 3 players projected to do much at the NHL level? And they owe us 'future considerations'.....

As a Wings fan I'd certainly entertain that offer as long as we can send as little as possible in return (as in quality players, prospects, draft picks). If he could center our 2nd line and provide 60 some plus pts he might be worth it.

With this draft apparently being rather average at best our 13th overall pick might be worth packaging up to acquire a quality player from a rival who may be facing cap crunch.

The availability and scrutiny surrounding Pettersson in itself sorta telltale sign of 'run away'...His on ice performance has been erratic these past few seasons and it's been rumored that the Canucks screwed up and traded away the wrong guy (JT Miller) and it should have been Pettersson getting shipped out (locker room drama). Sending Larkin to Vancouver for Pettersson would be a big mistake.

Serious note - I'm glad DBoss expressed his opinion on the matter...Ever have that boss that's an idiot, f***s people over in order to make themselves look good, micromanages? That's probably what DBoss is feeling in Detroit...The best player on the team, the Captain, shouldering the responsibility of keeping that sinking ship afloat with the mixed crew that Admiral Yzerman has given him...Some good, some so so, and some bad. Both Larkin and Yzerman need to share the accountability here.
