    New New Prospects Thread

Swedish interview with ASP Pretty boring interview. Biggest takeaways: he loves fishing, it's too bad Datsyuk and Witkowski are gone, both were big fishermen. His best friend and fishing buddy is Zeb Forsfjall. A 5'9" Swedish forward taken by Seattle in the 6th round last year. Maybe we can swap a 5th rounder or a low end prospect for this Zeb kid when ASP is ready to come over.

    Red Wings Fired AL Sobotka

Updates on Al Al texted Chris Illitch's personal phone the day after he was fired: Illitch never responded. His lawsuit doesn't look very sound. They fired him for peeing in the zam pit, which he admitted to, but he is claiming they really fired him for being old because an executive called him "too old" the week before the incident. And he's claiming they had a different executive fire him to "protect" the aforementioned exec. Al doesn't realize execs often have neutral colleagues do the actual firing for them to prevent emotion and argument. Al's corner is arguing he was never warned, or written up, or disciplined in any other way, and the termination was extreme. Olympia is arguing urinating outside the restroom is an immediate firing offense. Sobotka is also saying he is in therapy, is on sleeping pills, and has nightmares because of the firing.... untuck your dick and take a vitamin Al.

"Alot of fun"? No. Hokey? Yes. It was a nice change of pace though. Doesn't really move the needle for me either way at the end of the day. But I can appreciate that they try to do new fun thngs with the broadcast. We are the powerhouse of broadcast teams. It's hardly even close. But were they? lol IDK about "talking trash" but yes, the broadcast has always been full of light-ribbing. It's nice, because it makes it feel like they are all friends and you're just hanging talking hockey with the boys. I still have to do my one misogynistic deed of the day for today, so here it is: PLEASE NEVER introduce a woman to the dynamic. I love Carley, I respect Daniella, and they are both powerful red wings queen voices, but they are perfect where they are in their lanes. The shack is for the boys. Mickey, Keats, Kenny, and Ozzy. No grils allowed.

    Rumors Thread

This is the red flag. If Zegras is such utter cancer that they are giving up on him at 22, then Verbeek has gone about this all wrong and is an idiot (I don't believe this to be true). I think what's really going on here is two-fold: 1. Pat is playing mind games with the player. A player who is young and still developing, a player Pat is underpaying and is at almost no risk of actually losing in the near future, and who is currently on a bad slump. Zegras is supposed to be the future face of their franchise, he's already been on a video game cover. Beek has no intention of actually trading, but wants to light a fire under his ass. 2. It's a bait-n-switch tactic for the upcoming trade deadline. Dangle one of your most valuable pieces, and teams are likely to make you offers with actual valuable pieces coming back, exposing what they are willing to get rid of for the right price. Then you try to pry some of those pieces off of them using a Henrique or Silverberg. IMO I don't think Zegras is going anywhere for the time being.

Same as Rasmussen - thrust into the league too soon because BIG I said it all this past summer, he's not ready, and I want to see him Grand Rapids on a perma-basis for a while yet. Last year was a test to see if he could hang based on his size, and he couldn't. Keep him down and forget about him being on the Wings for a while.

News From Around the NHL *Mod warning page 75*

Rumor has it, it wasn't performance based at all, but more because Lou looked around the league and realized that the NHL NEEDS more Patrick Roy. The fans yearn for Patrick Roy. Sadly he will likely get frustrated with the Isles and quit by mid-march. So enjoy this while it lasts.

Hey be fair, the canes are a hockey team that plays hockey in a hockey arena. Word on the street is they also have players and coaches. Pretty neat.

Point out a game where Lidstrom played radically differently because MacDonald or Conklin was in net.

Players say a lot of meaningless junk in interviews. Lol a hockey goalie is not even closs to similar to a football QB. Goalie is the most static position in perhaps all of sports. They do very little to influence the rest of the team. A QB is the exact polar opposite.

Lol what a bunch of total malarkey. 99% of the game is happening so fast and in the moment, no one is considering who is in net when they make a decision. You go out there and play your game, and execute the coaches game plan. Only way I'm playing markedly more conservative is because coach has asked me to. Players focus on doing their jobs, who is in net is not their concern, and I implore either of you to present anything that supports this fanboy superstition of yours.

Skaters playing differently because of the goalie is a completely regarded fan myth.

This. Defense and net still aint great. But the difference this year is we can actually score a reasonable amount for once. Thats why taking our feet off the gas in the 3rd was so frustrating all nov and dec. We cannot afford to do that. We need to be all gas and no breaks, cause we will not win a defensive standoff. Folks can complain about Ghost all they want, but our offense is chugging because of additions like him. Another Maata in his place would have been redundant.

Bissonette - Highly regarded meat head clown. Totally irrelevant career. But he's very honest and bullish, and has an ACTUAL sense of humor. Can see why he's well-liked. Respect what he's been able to accomplish post career. Star of the broadcast. Liam Mchugh - Total hotel sexual corporate loser. Hope he takes a loose puck to the dome and dies... in the videogame NHL24. Carter - Diversity hire for ratings. Never said an interesting thing. Yawn. Lundqvist - Self obsessed, vain former superstar who enjoys playing dress up in Italian Suits. Completely brain dead on the broadcast with no real insights he's able to communicate with his total lack of charisma. Good broadcast Well literally every illegal stream I'm aware of just became MENS beach volleyball So you guys are stuck with the wings and I will be enjoying myself tonight

We are so spoiled with Ken and Mick it's unreal. Most all other broadcasts are trash by comparison. We talked about the team going to poop when Lidstrom retires, but it's going to happen again when those two are gone. The level of talent is beyond replacement level.

Gustav Forsling reminds me a lot of Anton Stralman. Stralman bounced around the league never really being appreciated, then SY gave him a great chance with Tampa and became awesome. Chicago basically wanted nothing to do with Forsling and now he's the same kinda steady solid two-dman for Florida. Great pickup by the Cats. Score less on us please Gustav.
