Kinda dumb, but with Tampa struggling and Brisbois being Yzermans other homie, the player I would go after is Tyler Motte. Tampa doesn't have much else to offer besides Stamkos (who will be signing with us in the offseason). Motte is a Michigan kid and good friends with Larkin, Copp, and Compher. We could probably bring him in for a measly 7th to be a 4th line PK center.

We won't be 100% healthy come game 1 of the playoffs. Guys like Henrique or Silverberg exist just to fill voids with something useful. If they can be had for reasonable expense I'd rather see them on the 3rd or 4th line than Fischer or Czarnik or Luff.

Agree to disagree then. I won't claim to have seen as much or more than you, but from what've seen I don't see the immediate complete package I saw in Seider. I expect flashes of true brilliance, but also growing pains. What I suspect will happen is he is called up as the black ace during the playoffs. And I can see him exploiting being the UNKOWN to the other team.

I think the biggest thing with Yzerman is he is 1. proactive, and 2. thinks outside the box 1. If Holland was still in charge we probably would never have acquired Nedjelkovic or Husso, but if he had done something like get Ned, Ned would still be in net in 2023/24. I just use this as one example of how Yzerman is much more willing to actively and urgently address problems, whereas tire kicker would have wait and seen. 2. Signing players like Holl, Walman, Fischer, Maata, was on absolutely no ones radar but it's generally worked out very well. He even got mad shade for signing Holl, but he didn't give a flying F about the NHL zeitgeist. And lastly, he's done the two most important things you can do to win in the modern parity NHL: dont sign bad contracts, and draft good.

Straight up, this would be my strategy as coach almost every game. 4th line... I want you to dump it in Chabot's corner every play, and Kostin and ZAR, I want you to RUN him every time. I do not care if you recover the puck. SWEEP THE ******* LEGS

Ducks have some other interesting players available as well. I REALLY like Ilya Lybushkin. Dude is loctite on D. Maybe something like a Petry+ for Lybushkin swap? Alas, the optics of trading away the home town loser probably stops this... Henrique and Silverberg don't entice me much, but at 50% retained they entice me a lot... Gotta think hate ball and Yzerman could dance together this year given their teams respective situations.

I think if he was a "MONSTER" Dman he would be on the team, despite who we signed. But he's not a monster (yet). Is he an upgrade over some of our Dmen offensively right now? Most likely yes. But he's also a rookie, who is going to make rookie mistakes, and he's never played through the grind of an 82 game NHL season before. Best to just ride the vets for now. And like you said, give him a shot when injuries come. Next year he will probably start the season with the big club. I just find it funny how many Wings fans around the boards and sites are punching holes in the walls to get him on the team lol. Yes, he's an exciting prospect. But he's also probably not the instant mega upgrade they've painted in their minds.
