  1. Ken Holland is so back baybee Is it just me or is Patrick Kane the only red wing that matters?
  2. At his position, this cap hit, and what we get out of him, this is a good deal. A little long at his age but the risk of a year or two extra is probably worth it

    2025 Lions Thread

I've been waiting to post, but most of the dust has settled now. Drew Petzing - New OC. Spent 3 years on a terrible Cardinals team, and did terribly. However, he's young, best friends with former OC Ben Johnson, and his style fits us, just like Ben Johnson did. Basic: he's a heavy run guy, favoring multiple, even triple, TE packages. Old school MCDC style football. Rumored to be wanted by his best friend Ben Johnson, so unsurprisingly the Lions made him an offer he couldn't refuse the moment the bears season ended Further: we also managed to nab Kafka from the Giants. A college phenom, who also struggled with a struggling giants roster. He's a pass concept guy who should have gotten an OC job elsewhere, but chose us in an assistant role... My assumption is Petzing will run the offense in a heavy run scheme, but allow Kafka to call passing plays. And if Petzing fudges up at all, Kafka can step into play calling, so Dan doesn't have to, like last years morton disaster... Looking at the roster: Lions are $5 mil over the cap. Goffs $69 mil payout will certainly be restructured down to something like $50 mil. So that solves that. Perssonel wise, we have to continue rebuilding what brought us to the forefront: our bread n butter: the Oline. Losing Zeitler and Ragnow was huge, and thinking rookies could replace them was the first serious misstep I've seen brad and Dan make. Rumor has it we are aiming to select Alabama's left tackle early, and Georgia tech's QB late for a backup role. All picks in between SHOULD be additional Olinemen OR linebackers or DBs. I will be insanely furious if we spend any draft capital on a skill position again like last year.

    2025 Lions Thread

Lions have made their training camp cuts and it looks like this is our starting lineup week 1: OFFENSE QB: Jared Goff RB: Jahmyr Gibbs & David Montgomery WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Wlliams, & Tim Patrick TE: Sam LaPorta C: Graham Glasgow G: Christian Mahogany & Tate Ratledge T: Taylor Decker & Penei Sewell DEFENSE DT: DJ Reader & Tyleik Williams EDGE: Aiden Hutchinson & Marcus Davenport LB: Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell, & Derrick Barnes CB: Terrion Arnold & DJ Reed S: Brian Branch & Kerby Joseph On offense.... we are incredibly stacked at the skill positions. We should continue to be a run first team, with Goff improvising as needed being the great play reader he is. However, the interior offensive line took some huge hits with Ragnow (C) retiring and Zeitler (G) going to the Titans. Glasgow is a decent vet, but nowhere close to Ragnow level. 2nd year Mahogany looked good as a backup guard last year, and rookie Ratledge looks great as well, but they are both youngggg and I expect some mistakes. I expect new offensive coordinator Morton will have more outside running plays in his book than we saw last year. Plays where tackles Sewell and Decker are the lead blockers, taking some pressure off our young interior linemen. At wide reciever, if anyone gets injured this year, its no worries. Rookie Isaac Teslaa looks like a beast and should be able to step up immedeately. Believe he will be WR4 or WR5 to start the season. On defense... we are already banged up (bc of course we would be). Our best nose tackle Alim McNeil wont play till week 4, and starting linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez is out until November. Fortunately, rookie DT Tyleik Williams looks really good, just young, and new backup DT Roy Lopez looks pretty solid as well. And at LB Derrick Barnes is a solid stand in for Rodriguez. Whats improved about the defense is our backfield. DJ Reed at CB is a solid upgrade over last year, and Terrion Arnold is entering his 2nd year at CB and looks much better already than his rookie season. I do wish we had a better edge rusher than Davenport to pair with Hutchinson... but it is what is. Other interesting notes... Lions waived newly drafted edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein. He's out for 3-4 months with an injury. He looked really good in preseason, so i dont think the Lions are trying to lose him, they just want the extra roster spot, and with his injury I dont think another team will claim him (i hope). They also cut offensive lineman Dan Skipper - he will be the only player from last year that scored a touchdown not returning. Rookie defensive backs Ennis Rakestraw and Dan Jackson are also already out for the season with injuries. We now have a 50 man roster of the max 53. So we have 3 extra spots to claim someone or make other moves next week. I could see the Lions bringing back edge rusher Zdarius Smith, or even Dan Skipper once the dust settles. Superbowl here we come.

Breadman Not only does he have chemistry with Kane and Dcat, but he can also serve to mentor the young Buchnelikov, who should be joining the roster next year. And then Kenny can say shid like "butcher muffins it to the breadman" and Mic can respond "WAMO he had the goalie out on Drury Lane"

    Artemi Panarin

With the Rangers announcing they are retooling heading into the TDL, this appears to be the big piece they will move. Drury literally says some of your beloved rangers are going to be gone as we aim for picks and cap space. And Panarin is their only core piece set to become UFA. And he makes sense for us because of the Kane/Debrincat connection from their time in Chicago together. And what a way to put a cherry on top of a year, a year in which we retired a Russian players number, then by acquiring a premium Russian forward.

TO NYR: 1st + 2nd + Mazur + Buium TO DET: Panarin + Rempe Dcat - Larks - Raymond Panarin - Copp - Kane Finnie - JTC - Appleton JVR - Ras - Rempe Send Kasper and Soderblom down to be the Griffins TDL acquisitions. Back up for playoffs as black aces Copp also has experience with the Breadman at NYR. Rempe for playoff rough housing

That's what I'm thinking. Older brother seems to be a late bloomer too. We should flip a guy in Berggen territory or a 3rd or something to Pittsburgh for him.

At this point Mike McDaniel is the #1 choice for OC. Closest thing to an offensive genius on the market. And his speed style would fit us perfectly. We have the personnel he needs to run it, which was his down fall in Miami. Losing that. However he's likely going to be offered a HC role. Im praying he's smart enough to come win with MCDC for a few years before moving on. DC Shep is already getting HC interviews from other teams 1 year in. Lions have become a brains exporter. That's good and bad. We can't afford to replace Shep and johnson in one season. Vikings appear to be in a mystery position. Bears are clearly ascending Packfaqs are clearly descending And the Lions should be due for a much better year ... If the right personel is esemballed

Also - I've shared this before - but I have a very good friend who is socially connected through friends to tigers president Scott Harris. Scott's complaint about Chris Illitch is that Chris is cheap (won't let him spend money on the team) and operates the tigers like a business instead of going all in for worlds series wins. You know Chris is running the wings the same way. Mike was the opposite of this. Obviously a good businessman as well, but he saw the value in spending more for titles. Not just extracting short term revenue. This Feds retirement reeks of business. The 5 game package. The flip of attitude. The fan appeasement. Everything. The cold hard truth is 91 got retired for the money and bc yzerman was his buddy. If Mike and Jimmy lived forever it would never happen out of principle.

Well Mike Illitch, Ken Holland, and Jim Devellano are the ones Feds betrayed/burned when he left. Mike is dead, Holland is gone, and Devellano's job is rumored to be a no-show job at this point. It's no surprise that the orgs attitude has now shifted to positive on Feds. So Jimmy Ds job could be so no-show that a speech or attendance wasn't even attempted, but I'm willing to bet he refused. Why wouldn't we as fans want to hear from the guy who was so instrumental in recruiting Feds early on? Jimmy was likely the only one to object to retiring Feds number and didn't attend out of protest IMO...

I assume it's just a mental prep thing. Sleeping on an uncomfortable cot in a cold dark basement alone makes you tougher, want it more. You earn going back to your California king and hot babe wife by enduring and winning. Athletes are weird, but that's what makes them good. Psychology in sports is huge. Often the mentally tougher, more confident, more determined man, wins when ur at that high of a level. Anything you can do to gain that edge, however weird, you do.

Shanny thought he was gonna leap frog managing and become the big dick exec of the biggest team, now he can't find a job and has to ask his captain permission to enter the suite and scout for free. What Toronto does to folks. Anyway since we're sharing player stories. My buddies mom sold Shannys home in Detroit. She said he had a large unfinished basement to store the mountains of Shanahan trading cards he had, and a single cot in that basement, which is where he would sleep alone on the nights before games.

As a kid in metro Detroit in the 90s the coolest thing you could own was a Fedorov jersey. Equipping that gave your character like +75 charisma with other child NPCs. I found a Lidstrom jersey in my loot box. So I will always be bitter towards Fedorov and how much cooler his jersey made you then lamewad Lidstroms did.

Friend: I think that's Dan Clearly Me: that's not Dan Clearly Friend: HEY CLEARY! *Man turns and looks at us* (It's clearly Dan Clearly) *Awkward pause* Friend: ...FUCQ YOU! *Man turns away and continues walking* Profound
