If I only had one word to describe what type of player MBN is, I would say "disrupter". He throws his weight around in all 3 zones and generally causes chaos for the opposing team. His heavy shot is a welcome bonus. He's going to compliment our soft top6 very nicely. Retrieving pucks for Larkin and Raymond. Causing opponents to make costly turnovers in their own end. Disrupting opponents breakouts... oh and if you focus too much on the offensive threats of Larkin and Raymond, he can clap one into your net when you're not looking. We haven't a disruptive presence like this in the top 6 since Bertuzzi left. Without it we're kinda like Sweden... feckless against real empires and forced to prey on weak disorganized backwater tribes, while good Norwegian teams disrupt the known world sending all of western europe into panic.

Since returning to his Swedish junior 20 team, MBN's team has played 2 games. In those 2 games MBN has 4 goals, 7 points, is +7, has 15 shots on goal, and is literally buying up all the small mom n pop shops in town just so he can legally go in and absolutely wreck them. IDK how many hits the kid has total, but from the clips of the last 2 games, he's an absolute bully on the forecheck. If the puck even thinks about going behind the net in the Ozone he will literally pull some Goku shiet and teleport directly behind the unfortunate defender retrieving the puck. He's going to be promoted back to his SHL mens team VERY SOON IMHO. He looks a whale in a kitchen sink in the Allvenskan. The hype express line, non-stop direct to Oslo, is boarding, and buddy I am a booking a 1st class ticket with extra leg room for MBN's penis.

Big Ben AKA Shop Wreck Chiarot AKA Chad King AKA Benjamin Chiarot, on the Luke Gazdic podcast, on why he was the most coveted Dman at the 2022 TDL: Stick work and gap control. Says when he played for Winnipeg all he would do is wreck guys shops and feed Bylugien the puck. But once he arrived in Montreal he started to mature his game. Focusing more on "gapping up" and defending with his stick. Even says Nick Lidstrom was not the fastest skater, but you'd never notice because he would never get burned by skaters bc of his gap control, and would keep oncoming attackers off balance with his stick. And, since Lidstrom has re-joined the organization, Ben has been picking his brain on how to better walk the blue line. Expecting a break out season from the assistant captain and leader of our blue line this year. Now that he and Seider have found chemistry together we can probably expect a pairing more similar to Chiarot - Byflugien or Chiarot - Weber. AKA a dominant defensive top pair AKA Scott's worst nightmare.

Also worth mentioning that Trey Augustine has been lights out for team USA, and he's projected to be the best goalie at this years WJC, among all countries. Couple that with his stellar freshmen performance at MSU last year, where he got MVP, outstanding rookie, and all-star team recognition, and I'm increasingly convinced this kid will be better than Cossa.

Plante impressing at WJs showcase, with 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 games. Newsy remarked that he was very impressed by Plante's high hockey IQ. There's a possibility this kid could make the USA U20 WJC team, which would be huge for an 18 year old 2nd round pick. Jesse Kiiskanen is also the captain of team Finland at the showcase, and has 1 assist in 2 games. However, unlike Plante, who's being used as an offensive weapon, Kiiskanen is playing in all situations. I read somewhere that the Wings met with Kiiskanen several times before the draft, but then Trotz scooped him up a few picks ahead of us. I think there's a strong possibility he was our 3rd round target ahead of Noah Dower-Nilsson. And it speaks to his defense that someone like Trotz wanted him higher than projected...

The NYT Athletic writers voted on which coach is most on the hot seat and likely to be fired this year. Most votes was Lalonde. Although wings beat writer, Bultman, disagreed and voted Sullivan. Anyone agree with this? Personally I think Newsy will be around awhile, although anymore massive losing streaks without Larkin, and him unable to motivate the team, and I can maybe see it.

Out: F Perron, F Fabbri, F Sprong, F Kostin, F Czarnik, D Walman, D Gostisbhere, and G Reimer In: F Tarasenko, F Motte, F Berggren, D Johansson, D Edvinsson, D Gustafsson, G Talbot 5 forwards out, and 3 forwards in. Good chance we are going to get to see some of Mazur, Soderblom, Kasper, and maybe Danielson this year. Perron's foot speed was starting to seriously regress, so Tarasenko is an improved replacement there. Berggren should be able to replace some of Fabbri and Sprong's scoring. But also Motte is a much better player for a bottom 6 role, than Fabbri or Sprong, being a matchup defensive forward. Add in Kane getting a full offseason training and full season with the team, plus Raymond being vastly improved, I think we are definately better at the forward position. Gustafsson won't score as much as Ghost, but he is an upgrade defensivly. Between Edvinsson and AJo, they should have no problem replacing the Walgod. At D we don't look much different. So improvment will depend on the seasons of Eddogg and AJo. Big contributions from them could spin this around, but theyre rookies, and that remains to be seen. Talbot is an easy upgrade over Reimer, so the net is improved. After the lessons learned last season, i think this group comes out hungry and we make the playoffs. Biggest question I have is, who will be Seiders new partner? Chiarot is the obvious choice. Lalonde loves to lean on him and he played much better with Seider last year once Texas Roadhouse got benched. However part of me thinks we say fuq it and staple Eddogg to that pair. Let him learn from the best and log huge minutes. Chiarot's presence would add stability to the 2nd pair. Edvinsson - Seider (big bad euro twins) Chiarot - Gustafsson (should compliment each other nicely) Maata - Petry (bottom pair, who cares) Johansson - Holl

I believe it will be 8 year deals for both, and all parties will have to be pleased. On Mo and Rays end, the salary cap will increase substantially over the next 8 years. Their prime earning years. Have to believe they are fighting for very lucrative contracts. On Yzermans end, inking these two solidifies his rosters foundation for the next decade. At what price is he comfortable doing that? What happens in a few years when Danielson, Kasper, ASP, and Eddogg turn out even better and need massive contracts? Scam needs to think very deep on this one. Because, though it seemed prudent at the time, re-signing Walman and Fabbri look like big mistakes in hindsight. Can't make that same mistake with these two.

We now have 3 assistant GMs. Horcoff managing the Griffins, Draper managing scouting, and now director of hockey ops, Aaron Kahn, has been promoted to AGM. He's a lawyer, so I assume his thing is contracts and salary cap. New Ryan Martin.

I wouldn't call 1 min a game a significant special teams role. Regular PKers hover around 2 min a game. He was likely only on the PK at all because Walman was hurt. But then something happened with Walman when he returned, because Jake went from top pair and top PK, to bottom pair and no PK, and/or healthy scratch. Yzerman also said Edvinsson has to earn his spot at camp. I won't at all be surprised if Edvinsson plays great, earns his spot, and plays all 82 games. But if it's same as last year, and everyone's healthy, I'd send him down until an injury promotes him. Who are you waiving in favor of Ed?

Maata, Fischer, and Veleno don't PK on a regular basis. He was behind Seider, Chiarot, Petry, and Walman on the PK with only 19 minutes.

I dont really agree on the comparison. I think Ed has all the potential to be just as good offensively and defensively as Mo. He's just not having the lightning fast development that Mo had. Sure Seider got PP time right away... but he also got PK time as well. Ed got neither. Because Seider was clearly a stud from day 1, and Ed is clearly not a stud yet. I don't dislike the prospect, i just dont see the need to rush him onto the roster, and if he's the Dman we can waive, it makes sense to waive him.

Seider did the same in GR, but with him it translated to the NHL immediately. That didn't happen with Ed last year, so it may very well not this year.
