Why sit a bad goalie all season and then expect him to be good in the playoffs?

Scam mentioned another move is possible before the season starts at the last presser. IMO that move revolves around Joe Veleno. Veleno elected for salary arbitration. Arbitration opens a 2nd buyout window. Once the arbitor concludes a contract with Veleno yzerman will be free to buyout Husso (cant buyout Holl, player must make 4M+ per year). This frees up another 2Mish between buyout cost and Veleno. We can then take on roughly another $5Mish in salary in a trade. More if we move someone like Holl out.

Tarasenko is an upgrade over Perron. Other than that this team got worse. Fabbri will be replaced by the rookie learning curve of Berggren. Gustafsson is a worse version of Ghost. One of our better defensive D, Walman, is gone and will be replaced by the rookie mistakes of Ajo and/or Ed. Yzerman didn't fix the net (again) he just tossed another 37 year old backup goalie onto the heap. Only way this team performs is if we see major progression from a mix of Veleno, Ras, Ed, Ajo, and Berggren. But especially Ajo and Ed. Or Yzerman grabs a quality Dman this summer.

Would love to land Ekblad. Then when Trouba gets waived to the AHL, and he finally says okay do the Detroit deal, Drury can say that ship sailed partner. You're only options are Calgary or San Jose.

I don't know what you're on about with this "bending to the will of his employer" bit. Rags are fully within their rights to trade him. And yes, part of being a pro athlete is going to where you are traded and making the apropriate decisions and arrangements for your family in lieu of that. Trouba's not in a unique circumstance. Teams don't care about his family inconvenience. They care about his crap attitude over a family inconvenience.

Uhhhhhhh... where did I say NYR doesn't want to honor his NTC? I've heard nothing about NYR not honoring it. He submitted a 15 team no trade list on july 1 and they can only trade him to the other 17. If you had bothered to read... I said there's a report stating that the OTHER 17 NOT ON HIS NO TRADE LIST no longer have interest, because of his attitude over all this. He's made it apparent that wherever he goes he won't be happy about it and the sour attitude will continue. He's the one refusing to act like a pro here in order to get his way. Guy is cancer.

To SY's credit, I really do think there was something brewing between DET, SJS, and NYR involving Goodrow, Walman, and Trouba. I don't think it happened all at once, as 3way trades normally do, and they did it in stages, because of the backroom trade clause circumvention that was required to get Goodrow claimed. I made this comment last night about Trouba's generaly petulant attitude... and well, he's whined and cried his way into getting what he wants again lol Newest report out is teams no longer want to trade for him, knowing that they can't accomodate his family (Which is also probably doublespeak for his poor attitude).
