The more I talk to other fans, the more im returning to earth on the Walman trade. We (detroit fans) overvalued the hell out of him. Called my Avs buddy, who knows seemingly every player in the league and then some, and he literally said "who?" when I brought up the Walman trade. Just cause he was Seiders partner doesnt mean squat to anyone else. He's a dime a dozen bottom pairing Dman like Hagg or Oesterle. And no one was going to claim him on waivers at his caphit. Furthermore, every team wants SJS to take on their cap dumps right now... and they only have room for so many of those. SY made sure he was first to the trough on that one. But he had to pay for it, and the Gibson deal was very good, and evened that out. This was indeed a cap clear and nothing more. But the good news is SY now has more room to make us better.

That doesn't explain why a 2nd needed to be attached with nothing coming back. He's a prime age Dman who was eating big minutes and on a cheap contract.
