Kanes family lives in Buffalo. He owns a home there and another outside of Chicago. He's not married, and his only child is 3. I don't think he's concerned about uprooting the family. The teams that were after him last year besides us were reported as Florida, Dallas, and Buffalo. Not sure how those teams situations have changed since then. But he would be viewed as the holy savior of the Sabres if he returned home. I could also see a return to Chicago happening. But maybe he's only truly interested in contenders, it could be a number of teams if thats the case. IDK if it's in the yzerplan to hand him a 5x5. Last year we could afford to risks. That ability has greatly diminished now IMO.

Again, not what Dcat said. The quote is "He came here in the first place, and he chose us for a reason. Obviously I don't know what he's going to do, but we are hoping he stays here." Not, I think he's going to play here. Not, why would he not come back? In fact, not only does he not say he thinks Kane is coming back, he openly admits he does not know what Kane will do. Furthermore, Kane explicitly says in his interview that what he is looking for is different than last year. So DCats statement about him choosing us in the first place is feckless. Not that it matters much since he admitted he doesn't know. And just curious, who did Kane mention he wants to play with next year...?
-
Correct, that is much different. It's a reference to last year... not next year. Dcat still said nothing about thinking or expecting Kane to be back NEXT year. And Kane does not at all talk about who on the Red Wings he wants to play with next year. I can't even find anything he said that you might reasonably confuse for that. Perhaps you might be the one who needs to do a little rewatching... regards
-
They did not. "I hope he will be back" is not the same as "I think he will be back". Your brain is doing a little wishful thinking if you're confusing those statements. Regards,
-
Neither Kane or Dcat made either of those statements. What Kane did say was his agent is going to explore options. I get that you want him back, so do I. But Kane spoke in the past tense about the wings the entire time, and went out of his to highlight how healthy and pain free he is now. He's already selling himself to the next franchise.

No one celebrating was my point. Kane doesn't have the miles and time to waste playing rebuild with us. He needed this year to prove he still has it. He's done that and now he'll set his sights on a true contender. He was an awesome bonus this year, but I'm not under any delusion he has loyalty to the Wings. You don't honestly believe that. Every player says empty platitudes like that to the media. And every core player wants their GM to add talent for them to play with. We certainly could see some moves this summer, but IMO it will be much quieter than what your hoping for. If SY was unwilling to give up guys like Berggren and his draft picks at the TDL, he certainly isn't going to part with them now. Furthermore, guys like Chiarot and Copp are going nowhere. SY is building a culture, and he's not going to jump ship on the vets he's made commitments to. And they're not even bad, so why move them? Don't listen to the hater(s) screaming nonsense about them 24/7.

I'm aware

Kane effortlessly scoring that season ending shootout goal to no celebration perfectly encapsulates the season and his time here. He's gonezo

They have it everywhere in the US, but it's called chili cheese fries. Mike is just a francophone.
-
Pretty much what I expect. But hopefully he starts in GR next season.

Expansion Yotes in 2029. Hard restart. -
I think they'll be back in 2029. By then Gary will have completed the bettplan: expand into every major city except Quebec, bc Frick them
-
He can still do that on his ELC
-
Really? How do you know all this?

Great video and take. I agree with EVERYTHING. Thanks for sharing. Bottom line is: TRUST THE PLAN I think we are going to see prospects start trickling in next season. And this is way better in the long run than losing our 1st to swing on some half baked Frank Vatrano. Step by step we will get there. This is just one building season of many.
-
Ghost provided something we didn't have, but he made Chiarot/Petry/Maata/Holl look like Konstantinov out there. And you can't have a Dman who only plays 15 min at even strength a night, almost exclusively in the Ozone, with almost 60 pts, @ 4+ a year and still be -16. It's no wonder he's bounced around the league to only teams desperate for scoring. He's literally not a Dman. He would be amazing as a 4th line forward if you could talk him down to $1 mil and only stepping on the ice on the powerplay.
-
It wouldn't make much sense to hang on to our 1st at the deadline... then sell it at the draft. Especially after we missed the playoff... It's an YzerPLAN. Not an YzerWHIM.
-
Trust the Bettplan
-
Signing Roy alone would use almost all our cap space. He just turned 29 in March BTW.
-
Patience. Trust the plan. This season was only the first step in an entire flight of stairs. Ditch Holl. Re-sign Perron. Sign Roy. Promote kids. That's all we need to get to the next step. And next year won't be the last step either. Many more to go. Trust the plan.
-
Basically he will be the Edvinsson next year. One of the reasons I see ZERO need to re-sign or replace Ghost. We are 0-1 seasons away from adding a serious backend puck mover.
-
If we increased it from 82 to something like 100 or 120, Wings probably make the playoffs

ELC will be signed this offseason

And Tony the tiger, whats his relationship to the octopus family? -
I like Artamonov, Jiricek, or Eiserman for our pick. Eiserman and Artamanov are both left wingers who can score and play 200ft, and both have a physical edge. Arty is already scoring in the KHL at a pace that only Panarin, Tarasenko, and Michkov have matched at his age. But he actually plays D too. If he's there at Wings pick I don't think you can pass. Jiricek has future top pairing RHD etched into his forehead. Breaks up 2on1rushes all by himself with ease. And literally tells his forwards where to go and what to do on breakouts. Future backend leader of men.
