What is good? The inverse of lazy and it sucks?

So the packers blew it against the bears, and the Lions blew it against the steelers, which basically means no playoffs for the Lions this year. My takeaway: This is still a very good team, but we tried to bandaid major loses and it severely hurt us. #1 losing OC Ben Johnson to the Bears. As a new HC he's taken the bears from bottom of the division to kings of the division in less than 1 full season. Meanwhile our replacement for him in John Morton was so bad he lost his job halfway through the season. Finding a new good OC is critical for this team. #2 losing Frank Ragnow decimated the offense. I'm a big believer in that having a strong trench makes everyone - the QB, the RBs - better. His loss has been significant... We need to bolster the Oline through the draft or FA immediately if the window is to stay open. #3 draft a QB soon. I love Goff, but the cracks and age are beginning to show

Lions have made their training camp cuts and it looks like this is our starting lineup week 1: OFFENSE QB: Jared Goff RB: Jahmyr Gibbs & David Montgomery WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Wlliams, & Tim Patrick TE: Sam LaPorta C: Graham Glasgow G: Christian Mahogany & Tate Ratledge T: Taylor Decker & Penei Sewell DEFENSE DT: DJ Reader & Tyleik Williams EDGE: Aiden Hutchinson & Marcus Davenport LB: Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell, & Derrick Barnes CB: Terrion Arnold & DJ Reed S: Brian Branch & Kerby Joseph On offense.... we are incredibly stacked at the skill positions. We should continue to be a run first team, with Goff improvising as needed being the great play reader he is. However, the interior offensive line took some huge hits with Ragnow (C) retiring and Zeitler (G) going to the Titans. Glasgow is a decent vet, but nowhere close to Ragnow level. 2nd year Mahogany looked good as a backup guard last year, and rookie Ratledge looks great as well, but they are both youngggg and I expect some mistakes. I expect new offensive coordinator Morton will have more outside running plays in his book than we saw last year. Plays where tackles Sewell and Decker are the lead blockers, taking some pressure off our young interior linemen. At wide reciever, if anyone gets injured this year, its no worries. Rookie Isaac Teslaa looks like a beast and should be able to step up immedeately. Believe he will be WR4 or WR5 to start the season. On defense... we are already banged up (bc of course we would be). Our best nose tackle Alim McNeil wont play till week 4, and starting linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez is out until November. Fortunately, rookie DT Tyleik Williams looks really good, just young, and new backup DT Roy Lopez looks pretty solid as well. And at LB Derrick Barnes is a solid stand in for Rodriguez. Whats improved about the defense is our backfield. DJ Reed at CB is a solid upgrade over last year, and Terrion Arnold is entering his 2nd year at CB and looks much better already than his rookie season. I do wish we had a better edge rusher than Davenport to pair with Hutchinson... but it is what is. Other interesting notes... Lions waived newly drafted edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein. He's out for 3-4 months with an injury. He looked really good in preseason, so i dont think the Lions are trying to lose him, they just want the extra roster spot, and with his injury I dont think another team will claim him (i hope). They also cut offensive lineman Dan Skipper - he will be the only player from last year that scored a touchdown not returning. Rookie defensive backs Ennis Rakestraw and Dan Jackson are also already out for the season with injuries. We now have a 50 man roster of the max 53. So we have 3 extra spots to claim someone or make other moves next week. I could see the Lions bringing back edge rusher Zdarius Smith, or even Dan Skipper once the dust settles. Superbowl here we come.

Yeah, now that we got John mafuqqin Leonard

John Leonard with 2 pts in 3 games! Time for some Jack... This kid is better than half our forwards. More than a few times so far he's set other guys up and they just can't finish. He would have more points if our players didn't suck.
-
Fun fact I learned today... Early football teams typically chose their name based off of the baseball team in their city. So the Chicago Bears were named after the Chicago Cubs. Detroit Lions was chosen because of the Detroit Tigers. And the name Packers came from the old Milwaukee butt fuqqers of the federal baseball league.
-
To add, Ajo and Soderblom have been terrible as well. I'd send down Soderblom as well and call up old reliable, Dominik Shine, to take his spot. Ajo we don't have an internal replacement for. Trade for someone. Our bottom pair D is poop.

It sucks losing a 2nd Rd pick to waivers, but Bergs has 65 pts in 171 games. For a guy that doesn't bring much else to the ice besides point scoring, that's not very good. I'm more surprised SY didn't send Kasper down... Having only 1 assist in 35 games, in a pretty good top 6, you almost have to be trying not to help... The tenacity and engine we saw last year appears to simply be gone from him. This is one of the worst sophomore slumps I've ever seen. All his energy has disappeared, send him to GR already. That all said, the Griffins have been absolute titans of AHL hockey this year. I think it's good to show those guys that play like this is rewarded. Leonard has been their #1 guy by far, and we don't risk much by calling him up (or sending him down). TLDR: I like the Leonard call up, but I would have sent down Kasper over Bergs
-
John Leonard called up. Has been a beast for the griffins. Well deserved.

Quinn Hughes traded to Minny for Rossi + a huge haul of shidt Detroit apparently tried on Hughes, but I doubt we had a chance based on the package Minny gave up. Not sure what the Nucks are doing. Retooling the retool?

HF mods are out of control. Soupnahtzee is the worst. Any non-commonly held opinion about the team = locked, suspended, banned. My first account there, I wrote a long post about why I didn't think Zadina would be a successful NHL player and why. Banned. 1-2 year later the entire board agrees Zadina sucks and now you can post "Zadina is a child molesting demon" with no sources or reasoning behind it... I've had several accounts banned for shockingly frivolous things there. But if you're a regular, and the mods like you, you can get away with just about anything. Gotta be part of the cool kids club. We had a similar thing happening here for awhile... There was an ongoing personal message thread between like 12+ accounts called "the pool party". It was number9/CRL (me) + Kickazz + jimmyemeryhunter + krsmith + nervedamage + marcaractac + several other users, some of which still post here.... So I won't mention them. The message thread was mostly for sharing things you didn't want on the public board and discussing drama on the board among other "cool" guys you trusted. But it often escalated to the users in that group conspiring to mess with the board. Like we would decide how we were all gonna gang up on one user we didn't like or something in an argument. But that group never had any mods in it... Reason I'm sharing this: This same thing happens at HFboards, but on a larger scale, and it includes a mix of users and mods. All it takes is you politely disagreeing with the wrong popular user and that user will tell his mod "friend" to ban you. There's a club at HF... And you n I ain't in it. Team still sucks. Nothing will change until then.

I think we should be signing this kid. Older brother of Max Plante. Playing with Max at Minnesota Duluth. Together they are ripping the NCAA apart. Undeniable chemistry together. Zam just turned 21 this summer, so he'd be an older prospect. But I think it's clear Max is ready to move up to the AHL next season, so why not bring the older brother with him? I'm willing to bet that chemistry comes with them and their reign of terror continues in the AHL. EDIT: Sorry all, I'm regarded. Just realized Pittsburgh owns Zam's rights. That said, the Plante's youngest brother Victor is draft eligible this coming year. I'm thinking take him. He's committed to Minny Duluth as well, so I'm guessing all 3 bros will stay another year and form an all-Plante line. But so far we def have the best brother.

Plante - Plante - Plante, next year at Duluth is gonna be Hanson bros for sure. Puttin' on the foil.

Looking back at our draft class from this summer... Carter Bear is playing well, but not at the tremendous rate he did last season. I'm not sure why. Maybe the silver tips got worse? If someone knows fill us in. Eddie Genborg is tearing up the SHL.... Well not tearing up, but for a rookie at his age in a men's league, his production is impressive. Brent Solomon is leading his USHL team in scoring. Betting he will get recruited into a solid NCAA program next year. Nobody else has much to report on. -
Here's how I do it: 1 - T.J. Parker, Edge, Clemson, 6'3" 265 lbs 2 - Max Klare, Tight End, Ohio State, 6'5" 243 lbs 4 - Parker Brailsford, Center, Alabama, 6'2" 290 lbs 5 - J.C. Davis, Tackle, Illinois, 6'5" 320 lbs 6 - Bryce Boettcher, Line Backer, Oregon, 6'3" 232 lbs 7 - Jackson Arnold, Quarter Back, Auburn, 6'1" 219 lbs Parker - The 3rd highest ranked pure edge rusher (doesn't play LB or DL) in this draft. Excels at the pass rush. Should be able to snag in the middle to late 1st round. Klare - The #2 ranked tight end in the draft. Excels at receiving, a perfect replacement for Laporta, or another huge threat in a two TE formation with Laporta. Should be able to snag in the late 2nd or early 3rd round. Snag a buncha Oline pieces and an extra linebacker... Then Jackson Arnold at QB. He's a boom or bust type QB. Give him some time to cook under Goff and then maybe he'll be something when Goff hangs up the spurs.
-
Okay, after this season: Offense: QB Goff - 3 more years RB1 Gibbs - 1 RB2 Montgomery - 3 WR1 St. Brown - 4 WR2 Williams - 5 WR3 Teslaa - 3 LT Decker - 3 LG Ratledge - 3 C Glasgow - 2 RG Mahogany - 2 RT Sewell - 4 TE LaPorta - 1 Clear priority #1 is draft OLine. Then #2 is tight end, depending on LaPorta's health. And a distant #3 is draft a rookie QB. #1 - The loss of Frank Ragow at center has absolutely crippled our interior line. Glasgow has been a shidddd replacement and ideally, he is more of a 2nd string guy. Even if Frank comes back next year that would only be a band aid. We can't count on his health...The kids, Ratledge and Mahogany, should improve with more downs, but Mahogany is often injured. As well, LT Decker is starting to get up there in age and we can't count on his health and high play level much longer. Therefore, we should be targeting GUARD, CENTER, and TACKLE in this draft, with a big emphasis on getting a good CENTER, the GUARDS and TACKLES we can afford late round project players. #2 - LaPorta's health is in question, and it could possibly be career ending. Even if it isn't career ending we should draft a good TE, because who knows how long his health will hold up. If the new TE is just as good, then we also won't have to pay LaPorta on his next contract as well if he is healthy, which buys us time and dollars. #3 - Goff is getting older. It would be nice to draft young QB who can learn from him for the next 3 years and then take over. As we saw in the preseason as well, this team is FUQQQED if Goff gets injured at any point. So having a good backup would be nice... However, this is a need we can address over the next 3 years of drafting. Doesn't have to be this draft. Other notes: I expect this team to PAY Gibbs. He's by far the best RB we've had since Sanders. Get him under contract and then use Montgomery as a trade piece to get something else we want. Monty is going to get less and less downs as time goes forward here, so get something for him now. Gibbs can take over fulltime duties. Defense: DE Hutchinson - 6 years left DE Davenport - UFA DT Reader - 1 DT McNeil - 4 DT Williams - 3 LB Anzalone - 1 LB Campbell - 1 LB Barnes - 3 LB Rodriguez - UFA CB Reed - 3 CB Arnold - 2 CB - Robertson - UFA FS Joseph - 5 SS Branch - 1 Far and away the #1 priority for this defense is draft another EDGE to play with Hutchinson. The #2 priority is drafting depth at the other remaining positions. #1 - Absolutely let Davenport go to free agency, he's been shidddddyyy. Then draft a day 1 starting DE high in this draft to flank Hutch. That would tremendously improve our Dline. #2 - Draft dudes who can fill in for injuries, Anzalone type money hold outs, and in general guys who can step up and play when we can't afford to pay one of our starting LB's or something. Project guys with later picks. Other notes - Williams is a baller on the Dline. We should maybe use Reader as a trade chip and allow Williams to start next season. Regarding the defensive backs I expect this team to PAY Robertson and get him back under contract. He exemplifies everything the grit driven Lions are about. Rodriguez we should probably pay as well. He was very promising before his ACL injury, and he probably won't cost too much because of the time he's been away. I'd keep him on the team as a future Anzalone replacement. I expect the draft this year to look something like this: Rd1: Edge Rusher Rd2: Tight End Rd3: (traded away) Rd4: Center Rd5: Guard or Tackle Rd6: Defensive Player Rd7: Defensive Player or sleeper QB If LaPorta can still play, then take a Center in the 2nd round. And I'm hoping we can trade Reader and/or Monty to maybe get a pick in the 3rd round or for a player we can use right away.

Not even going to the fuqqin playoffs. Same ol lions.

We will be cursed with bad goaltending until Howard either puts down down the hoagies, or he accumulates so much mass that he collapses in upon himself like a dead star
-
At the end of 2019/20 James Devellano led Jimmy Howard to the fiery center of Mt. Weight Watchers, the only place where the one hoagie to feed them all could be destroyed...... But the hearts of goalies are easily corrupted... "CAST IT INTO THE (TRASH) BIN JIMMY! IT MUST BE DESTROYED!" Devellano exclaimed. Eyeing the precious dbl meat, dbl cheese, and extra mayo hoagie, and with a devious smile begining to creep across his face, Jimmy Howard replied with only: it was on that fateful day that the evil of sandwiches triumphed over the hearts of Detroit goalies. Jimmy cast aside his job, his team, contract and money... all for extra deli meat... dooming the net of wingkind for generations: 2020/21 - Jimmy's heir, Bernier, assumed the net. But he would be quickly injured, traded, and then retire. He lasted just 34 games before the hoagie hex consumed him. 2021/22 - Next in line: the young calder finalist Ned. He made it about 64 games with the wings before the curse too devoured him. 2022/23 to present - Husso made it 74 games. HM to Reimer and Greiss. Howard's hoagie got those goalies too along the way. RIP. Lyon and and Talbot currently sit at 67 and 33 GP respectively. How much longer do we think they have? One hoagie to feed them all, one hoagie to find them, one hoagie to bring them all and in au jus we dine them

So Emmitt Finnie and Nate Danielson are dating twin sisters... This season just got interesting
