When I was 12 (1988) my dad asked me what I wanted for christmas and I said the only thing I wanted was a Christmas card with Steve Yzerman's signature, jokingly. He sent off a letter to someone at the Joe asking if this could be done, not expecting anything. A few days before Christmas a card came in the mail with Snoopy doing some aerial tricks on skiis, inside was written "Merry Christmas, Scott! Your Friend, Steve Yzerman." Obviously it's a cherished item and I have it framed. I always thought what a great gesture that was, because he must have gotten so many requests like this over his career. And to not just sign it but add that little bit extra really shows his character.

well we've got the lesser talented of the miller brothers on our team, maybe we should give one of ilya's bros fred or george a chance? i'm sure they'd come cheap.

i agree, but that would be a hard rule to change. it's ingrained in so many people that goalies are off limits, nobody would sit back and watch theirs get bowled over.
