That Hasek picture really freaks me out.

I went to 3 regular season games and last night's game. The first game I went to was in early October and the Joe was dead. (the only good thing was the concession stand lines were short and the bathroom lines weren't too bad) The second game was in January and the arena was a bit more filled. The third game was the last game of the season. It was a Sunday afternoon game, which tends to do pretty well because the kiddies can come. It being a meaningless game for the standings, the Joe was pretty packed, though obviously not sold out. Last night was a different story. There was no room to move in the concourse. The men's room line was longer than I had ever seen. I couldn't remember a crowd like last night since the 2002 playoffs. Obviously, there were some empty seats, but it didn't sound like it. Though, there were stretches in the 2nd period when you could hear a pin drop.

I'm partial to Cobo Joe's, which happens to be one of the closest restaurants to the Joe and tons of parking adjacent to it. It's the perfect hockey bar. Everyone there will be a hockey fan, they plan non-stop videos of hockey fights on all the TVs, the food is good (onion rings are the best, pizzas, burgers are good too) and they place the opposing team's jersey in front of the door for everyone to walk on!

Does anyone have a link to a video of Yzerman scoring a goal against Carolina in his last season (2005-2006)? It was a situation where the Wings didn't show up to play, Carolina had the game in hand and Yzerman, determined to put a spark in the team, carried the puck in all alone and scored a nice little goal. The Wings ended up losing the game, but it was a classic Captain moment.

Neither can I.
-
The only explanation: the BJs are playing so poorly, they are not only losing tonight to the Wings, but also to the CAnucks.

He holds on to the puck way too long and shoots the puck into the non-shooting lane after the open lane closes up. He needs to think less and he might become adequate. As Kenny will remind us (though I disagree), he is the type of player you need in the "new" NHL.

So, my DVR won't let me watch my recording of the game. I was able to watch the first 10 minutes of gameplay and then, nothing. (Comcast's DVR is a POS) It sounds like I missed a hell of a game. I can't wait to see the video. I wish I could see the entire game tonight.

So, I was looking around TSN this morning when I saw the article about last night's game. It spoke about how amazing Kipper was, but if you were reading the article and had no knowledge of the Wings current injuries, you would think they were just missing a couple players. You've gotta love how the Canadian media really makes the Flames look better by trying to elevate last night's win by implying that they beat the Red Wings team that is running away with the West, when in reality, they faced an extremely young team missing the heart and soul of its identity. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230351&hubname=

He isn't wrong. They obviously lack confidence. Bad calls and goals against are deflaiting them.

Has anyone heard Scott Anderson's inpression of Keating? It's amazing!

Ken and Larry have been talking about the last time a Wing lead the league in scoring. Datsyuk lead the league for around a week or so in the 2003-2004 season. Are they forgetting this or am I missing another aspect to their question?

I don't know how anyone can argue that Lilja should be in the lineup after his play tonight. How many penalties and turnovers does it take to convince you people?
-
I'm tired of the stupid Lilja penalties. Bring back Markov. Our current numbers 5 and 6 just aren't cutting it. In fact, I am really starting to dread Kronwall's shifts!
-
How can you say that Kronwall is a better defenseman than Schneider? If you believe the Wing's excitement towards Nik, I guess you could say that he has the potential, but he hasn't really shown that. Kronner needs to decide what he wants to be and build that to a NHL proficency. He can be a hard hitting stay at home defenseman or an offensive defenseman and jump on the rush. Right now he tries to do both and hasn't mastered either.
-
If we can re-sign Markov for a low enough figure, we will have more than enough room to pick up a player at the deadline. Remember that a deadline acquisitions impact on the cap is a fraction of their annual salary. That was one of the reasons that Bertuzzi was attractive.
-
I disagree. He has significant PIM taking costly and stupid penalties. He needs to play with his brain a bit more. I was a big fan of his grit and play he had towards the end of last season and in the playoffs, however he either isn't playing quite as smart or is receiving calls when he wouldn't last year. Something needs to change. Maybe he needs to be reminding how upset he was last year when he was scratched.

Those late night games are terribile for local TV ratings which in turn translates to less exposure and ultimately fewer home game tickets sold.
-
Whenever it goes on sale, it will be grossly under publicized. They need to have an exciting kickoff for the sale of season tickets, like a fan day where you can meet players or a student rush ticket sales event.

You better believe that Comcast will have this carried in most markets that have Vs. Keep in mind that a NHL network in the US was part of the contract between Vs and the NHL. Vs is owned by Comcast. What I am not sure about is if it will be the same NHL network that broadcasts out of Canada or if will be their own network or possibly a hybrid of the two.

I always have a problem with people who think that you are fan only if you have something good to say. If I say that my wife is a horrible whistler, does that mean that I don't truly love her? Great ending to the period by the way. Now we need to carry that momentum into the 3rd to tie this series up!
-
A goal isn't the hard part. We cant win the battles against the boards, we cant carry the puck in effectively and we definitely can't recover the puck when we dump it on. We need a new plan of attack for the 3rd period.
-
A lot of good it did. The league cares more about Calgary than a charter member of the league!

Chelios sciored his first goal of the year, a short-handed goal, on the 24th page of the game day thread! Let's get to 96 pages!
