I can't see this happening... if it does that better be a 1st rd pick. Even still, doesn't seem like enough. The only downer I see on Kronner is injuries... two (albeit freakish) major injuries in two seasons. Another season like that & he'll get a reputation for being a straka... Still, he's on my no-trade list.

Guerin wouldn't be bad... although would prefer someone younger. As for Eddie... no way. We'd be better off digging up Terry Sawchuck & propping him in front of the net. Or maybe we should rehire Deveraux under the condition he plays in goal? Hell, I'd rather pick one fan at random to sit in net every night than have the old & broken Eagle in net.
-
I'm not really sold on Gerber... but he is relatively cheap. Not sure Nabby or Giggy is worth the extra cash they'd cost... Let's face it, there's no solid goaltenders available... might as well go for a cheap one then & focus more on physical skaters.

Something must be lost in the translation... on Eck's website he had said Toronto might put together a big offer for Lids... not that Lids might go to Toronto. Big difference.

Uh... so where is the 'Trade Rumor' in all of this??? Anyway... you're daft. I assume you're refering to the guy tied for 2nd in points during our playoff crawl??? He was one of the few players that actually showed up in April. He & Hank each had 6 pts in 6 games... yeah, that's a guy we should dump. Hell, let's get rid of Schneider too! He only had 8 points in those 6 games!!! I would be willing to trade him... but not 'get rid' of him. If he (within a package) could help free up a player we truly need... then I'd support it.
-
That would pretty much require a top 5 pick & some luck.
-
In his short stint with us, he was great. Energy, speed, attitude... Since then, he's gone WAY down hill attitude-wise... his attitude is now a liability more than anything else. The ONLY benefit to bringing him here would be the addition of Elisha Cuthbert in the JLA seats.

I'd offer Hudler + Blatak + pick (2nd or 3rd) for him. Would consider strengthening offer by replacing one of the players with Grigs or offering 1st... still not sure that'd do it though. For a team used to spending 75M, a few mill in transfer fees isn't much.
-
Sure it would've been nice to see a better transaction... but anyone who expected a better transaction has to be on crack.

Per TSN, Minnesota has waived Alexandre Daigle. Now, he's underperformed in the NHL, no doubt there. But he has a lot of unfulfilled scoring potential & great speed. At 850K, we could fit him in the roster without trading a darn thing. If AD is ever going to reach his potential, it'd be on the wing of Hank. Hell, look how good Sammy & Homer do when playing on Zetts line & they don't have anywhere near the offensive upside AD has. If he doesn't do well w/Zetts... oh well. We lost nothing to get him, and he'd be a lot better on the 4th line than Mowers. Kenny has said he'd be willing to trade for depth... here you could get a potential game breaker without losing a thing.

per TSN, the freeze is 13-27 Feb... so, show is still on.

Surely you meant 'Jose Theodore' as the author...

Most predict witt will go for a 2nd, 3rd, OR a prospect. Still... I'd pay Hudler, our 1st, and our 2nd for Witt and their 1st.
-
Interesting at all, but does he have what it takes to play where it matters? Size, attitude & decent skater. Sounds like something we need...
-
I do believe he has a heck of a lot of talent & will be a solid player when he has developed. However. He is small and slow. We need size, grit and toughness. Why wouldn't we trade him? [edit] Oh, and btw, the trade deadline for this season is the March 9th.

There's also that defensemen... what's his name. SCHNEIDER!

I don't think any 'for brodeur' trade is going to happen, but this is fun armchair GM'ing... So, now some thoughts after I've had a few more minutes to consider the most important aspect of any trade. The Cap. I figure we have ~1M in room left. Original 'rumor' Brodeur (5.24M) Legace (1.16), Zetterberg (2.4M) So, we'd have to absorb $1.68M. That doesn't even consider the cash for another forward to bring up from GR, for ~450K. So, this is about a $2M increase in our payroll that puts us over the cap by ~1M. My prefered option Brodeur (5.24M), Zajac (NCAA) Legace (1.16), Lang (3.8), and Hudler (AHL). Throw in 2nd or 3rd if needed. This is only 280K to absorb, although we'd still have to call up another forward from GR (Flapjack anyone?). Still within the cap, weakens our offense, but by having Brodeur in net we don't need to fix our so-called defense problem. Also replaces one of our future oompa-loompas with a strong, large and physical offensive forward. The Barnes52 option(because this was the last posted and I like the avatar) Brodeur (5.24), White (1.71) Legace (1.16), Lang (3.8), Williams (450) 1.54M for us to absorb, plus a min of another 450K to replace one forward (the 2nd forward slot & the demotion of one D-man to fit in White would theoretically cancel eachother out). Anyway, this is hogwash... why not Hudler & a 2nd to WAS for Witt.

I have a hard time imagining Det would pull the trigger on this trade... To give up the Z would be insane... an old (albeit one of the best) netminder just ain't worth it. I'd substitue Lang for Zetts though and then make the trade... plus, Lang/Legace for Brodeur is probably the only way to make it fit under the cap. But if it was a Legace/Zetts trade, NJ would have to throw in a prospect like Zajac to make up for the offensive blow that losing Zetts would cause. But, that'd probably make it lopsided for Det... so maybe: To NJ: Legace, Zetts, Hudler To Det: Brodeur, Zajac Zajac's got a lot of what we need, physical, large, hockey sense, scoring sense, and very fast. Would hate to lose Zetts for anybody though... hell, since I'm dreaming To NJ: Legace, Lang, 1st rdr To Det: Brodeur, Zajac

I'll rank order those in order of my preference... 1. CHARA!!! 2. Chara! 3. Chara

Can teams still 'eat' salary under this CBA? I was under the impression that wasn't allowed... only official way I know to do it is to waive someone, then call them back up. For pickups off of re-entry waivers, the losing team pays 1/2 salary... but I can't imagine either of these guys would survive 2 waiver drafts.
