Let's trade a bunch of our washed up players (Williams, Maltby, Lilja, etc.) for Zubrus or anyone else whom would we like to bring in.

IMO, both #14 and #91 shall not be retired and hence they are available immediately. Like Crosby wears 87, maybe a new future young player born in 1991 will wear #91.

Murray plays 19 min/game in Boston including enough time on PP, which he would never get in Detroit. Forget he would have the same production he does now, dropping him to the same production level as Williams did last season. In addition 4,15 M USD / year are a way too much for such player.

Lidstrom is smart not only on the ice, but also off the ice. By the way, is there anyone except Bettmann & Co. who like the current schedule format?

Isn't Maltby UFA after the season? I think may start searching a new job, his future in Detroit seems to be foggy.

The season seems running well so far. Players like Datsyuk and Zetterberg have to carry the team throughout the playoffs. If Datsyuk and some other guys play the same way like they did last season, we won't be a serious cup contender.

The big minus the the streak end is that Nashville is 3 points ahead of us now ... not GOOD!

I just noticed on the Red Wings roster that we slowly but certainly have less and less skater that shoot right. Couple of years ago, the ratio was approx. 50/50% of skaters shooting L/R. Meanwhile the ratio changed considerably, because many R-shooting skaters like Yzerman, Shanahan, Hull, Mccarty, Verbeek, Murphy, Olausson, Dandenault are gone and only a few R-shooting skaters like Lang or Samuelsson were acquired (the ratio may be somewehere 75%L / 25%R now IMO). Among others, the only R-shooting D-man is Chelios now, who is about to retire soon. I know it is not a major issue, but IMO the team looks more fine when the ratio L/R is approx. equal. It is obvious advantage on special teams, especially for better point shot on the PP or clearing the puck from the corner on PK.

It would not surprise me if Dats stayed at Detroit after HoDlland accepted 7M to him in the offseason, Holland has shown already several times how he can overpay players. But IMO 7M to Dats is worse that 7M devided among 3 other competetive above average players. Dats is not worth of 7M.
