This sounds promising its too bad it takes 15yrs for our players to ever crack the line up. Wish they would give the young guys more of a chance to play ealier rather then playing as a rookie in their late 20's.

If that's true Franzen's stats are heavily skewed in just a handful of games there's no amount of good stats that Franzen has that I would want over what Parise brings and his intangibles. I honestly can't believe you would compare the two.

If this is the best we see out of hudler on his contract year with some of our top players its sad to see. I don't really care for Semin at all but Was did have a horrid year this year in his defense.

For the supposed rumored money that he wants I'd rather leave a 25 goal hole in our line up course he could play at league minimum and I'd still let him walk. If he's going to be a one dimensional so called scorer/sniper with lackluster defense and only 25 goals on our team na I'd rather wait for someone else to fill this roll.

Exactly whats to stop some team thats under the cap like last year to dole out 10+ million a year for Parise/Suter to get above the cap?

Here's my uneducated guess. I imagine Kenny and Lids had a discussion like this. Kenny: Hey Nick, I've been looking at our payroll and I'm confident that we can retain all of our FA this year. I think this is an wonderful opportunity to for our veterans to continue the path that they are on. I will "save" our money for the trade deadline and "go all out" and see what happens. I agree with this statement in addition to the fact that some of our players were also signed to long term contracts. Winning the cup then getting multi-million multi-year deals leads to complacency. What more do some of these players have left to accomplish? Shorter term deals 2-3yrs maybe 4 at the most would be more ideal and keep players responsible during the duration of their contract. This year this team with the exception of Zetterberg/Dats (imo) looked deflated and uninspired to play playoff hockey. Both players are left on lines with no help from their teamates they work their asses off and then have no options for passes or scoring chances. As far as Babs I don't know what he could have done. I have to wonder though because I've always thought of him as getting his team to play "hard nose" hockey. Crashing the net and getting the so called "garbage goals". Perhaps knowing he was unable to get get his players to go to the net he opted to play the "Dave Lewis" play shooting from the outside with hopes of getting Holland to make some changes to our flawed system. I have to wonder why players weren't going to the net. Where they never told to? Or was it simply that they made a concious decision not to? I remember someone in another forum mentioning the fact this was oilers/ducks all over again high shot totals but no real scoring chances. Which they should have learned their lesson from that goalies are too good these days to shoot the majority of your shots from the blueline or outside the circles compounded with the fact that no one is going to the net. There definatly needs to be changes.

It seems like an easy and logic decision to make. You sit his ass until its 100%. I don't know how its up for debate or even up to Cleary at this point. If he does indeed play I have to wonder whats going through Babcocks mind to play injured players when there's healthy young players that will eventually need playoff experience anyways mind as well be now.

IMO if your paying for a service to watch hockey games there should be no blackouts period the fact that there are only goes to show how shady of a system it is. The fact that cable tv has a strangle hold on local sports is ridiculous. Over priced packages and filler channels are the reason I dumped cable. Don't get me wrong I would love to pay NHL to watch my Wings game but unfortunately for them I'm not going to open my wallet and throw my money at them. Last I checked to get FSD added to my package I used to have was and extra $12/month (this was through att and prices I"m sure have gone up because this was over 1.5yrs ago). So paying for ONLY in market hockey games only 1 team your paying $144 just to watch the wings a year. Tack on 10 a month for HD services $120 a year total of $264 a year for FSD in HD and thats just looking at one channel for HD. Compare that to NHL center ice for every team cept the wings and your only paying $180 for the YEAR plus HD. Thats an $84 difference a year just looking at FSD vrs NHL center ice. Its much more considerable when you factor in the whole cable package your paying. A person would be saving hundreds of dollars (on the low end easily a $1,000+ for bigger cable packages) a year if this blackout s*** wasn't allowed to occur. So to say that people are over reacting to be asking for what they are is BS in my opinion. Some people may not respect or care about where there money goes or how its spent but the way its set up now they are milking people who pay for both for every penny your worth and laughing all the way to the bank. I refuse to pay stupid amounts of money towards any cable provider to watch red wing hockey when I should be able to pay NHL just to include all teams regardless of where you live in their center ice packages. $180 for center ice is dirt cheap compared to the cost of straight up cable + FSD. If they offered just your local area through center ice and thats it for $180 its still cheaper that way. It makes no sense not to include it some way in a NHL package.

Loved the video! Anyone here notice is evolution of Kronwall starting to turn his back into his checks now? I'm wondering if he's doing that to avoid his forearms/elbows accidentally getting up to high and avoiding the situation all together? Who knows though but it seems like it would hurt more to line up a hit going back first like that. I see his head get flung back at impact and I just cringe that he's gunna hurt his back at some point.

I doubt Columbus wants to trade to inter-division teams as well as Detroit. *addition I wouldn't want Filatov anyways as other posters have pointed out negatives. Also it just dawned on me after posting my original statement I wonder how trading will be affected after the the new changes in divisions.

I dunno when players are playing in corners and someone gets a stick up in the face is understandable accidents happen. But this happens off the face off there's no reason anyone stick should be above their waist. I think I read somewhere that he was trying to get his hands? Either case is stupid move and he shouldn't have even targeting his hands. Maybe two games is a bit much but 1 game I think would have been fine but really whats a 1 game difference. He was careless with his stick during a time when the face off was being dropped not like anything was really going on. I agree 100% with Opie post above.

Hi guys just a quick question I think I read in another post that if you purchase Gamecenter you may be subjected to blackouts especially if you live in Michigan and want to watch the wings. Is it blacked out? Reason I asked is because I finally cut the cord to cable and pretty much just use public channels and netflix. If Gamecenter blackouts local games to the user that does not have that area's Fox Sports channel what other options are there other than Hockeystreams? And what is the point to blacking out a persons local team if they don't have cable I mean isn't that the whole point of someone purchasing a NHL package? I'm a little leary to go the hockeystreams route and I'd rather not go back to paying $60+/month for just a few channels I watch on cable. I see that many people are buying packages in addition to their cable subscription. My other option might have to be buying the very basic uverse package and add on the sports package.

Totally agree guess I"ll just look up scores tomorrow.

It take some losing in the playoffs before a team takes it to the next level and it may be there year to do it. They've certainly brought in some good pieces to make it easier.

I think most ppl are upset because they know this team can play much better then they are now. We all know the potential and great chemistry this team has and nothing is clicking. Its nothing more than frustrating to see one of the best team in the NHL struggle.
