Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

The Sens are not a playoff team. You can only do so much with an owner like Melnyk. Penny-pincher who routinely throws everyone around him under the bus. -
I'm really looking forward to this draft. Should be lots of activity. Haven't seen many of the players play very much so I can't say I'm really hoping for any one player. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we don't end up picking at our current position.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Elliott Friedman throws a lot of s*** at the wall and sees what sticks. He's as guilty as anyone in Canadian media. He very rarely breaks any real news. Usually piggy backs off his colleagues. -
I think it would depend on how close the room is. If I had lost the captaincy I would be disappointed as well. However, if say my best friend was given it instead. I would be genuinely happy for him and wouldn't have any awkwardness. If a teammate whom you're not really close with was given it, it would be awkward...

Good signing, great cap-hit. He'll be on the roster next year. -
I hope this is the kick in the ass he needs to motivate him to bring his game to another level. One can dream...

So wait... there's 2 Sebastian Ahos? Isn't there a Swedish defenceman with the same name?

Larkin is going to be a stud. I have to keep telling myself he's only 19.

Hamonic isn't going anywhere. He retracted his trade request. -

Let it go man... Do you have a monthly quota on mentioning Abdelkader's contract? -
That's kind of stating the obvious that our first round picks have to be "quality players" for our team to have a good future. Saying we're doomed for bottom 1/3 of the league is just stupid though.

It's all about expectations though. People go a little nutty around here when the "available" names start flying around. There's 30 teams and it's not like we're in a great cap situation. -

I think that just goes to show you how much the Ruble has tanked. 300,000,000 rubles today is only worth about 4.6 USD today. -

People seem to be wondering about the severity of the blood clot and whether it could return. Stamkos's clot is not like other blood clot stories you've heard before. Timonen, Fleischman and Dupuis all were genetically predisposed to have blot clots. Stamkos is not. His was most likely caused by trauma which would mean that after treating this, he should be no more likely to get a clot than anyone else. You can hear Bob McKenzie talk about it here. It's actually quite interesting. -

Who are all "these guys" that are going to inflate the cap to 95 mil in a year? I think you guys are overreacting a bit. This isn't the norm. This is an exceptional player and case. -
I'm probably most happy for Sproul. Hope he gets a fair shot next year.

Columbus may be screwed in general by the expansion draft. "Four of the seven protected forwards would be Dubinsky, Foligno, Clarkson, and Hartnell. That would then leave only three spots for Brandon Saad, Cam Atkinson, Boone Jenner and Alexander Wennberg (as well as Calvert, Rychel, and Karlsson). Its not much better on defense, as Fedor Tyutin would be taking up one of the three spots. Ryan Murray and Seth Jones are shoo-ins for the other spots, leaving Jack Johnson, David Savard, and Michael Paliotta exposed." Suddenly that rumoured Hartnell/Tyutin trade last year at the deadline makes a little more sense. -

Myers does have a NMC in effect for when the expansion draft occurs. So yes it does create quite the issue for them. I see Trouba eventually getting dealt to the East. He'd be a perfect addition for us. -

The story on Sean Day
-
I'd take a chance on Sean Day. His stock has dropped a lot since he was declared "exceptional" by the OHL at 15 but I think he's worth the risk.

Sooo you just made up a number? lol
