Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
Son of a Wing replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
It's really not that long ago. Not to mention that took about 2 minutes to find so there could be more. I dunno. Not that I think a Franson or Sekera are going to get a first... I don't. But it does happen occasionally.. -

Dude it's just a hockey blog. lol Relax. Don't like his reporting? Don't read his stuff. I don't really get why you felt so inclined to create an account, post several over the top attacks on him (till he would finally respond to you), and then come here to pat your self on the back with a "see what I did everyone!" attitude. The whole thing was kind of sad to be honest. And I'm not even a fan of Malik... -

Woah guys...this is clearly detracting from the deep Brendan Smith conversation... -
I'd say it's closer to Dekeyser, Helm, Bertuzzi, Pulkkinen, 1st rounder. There's nothing close to a Tatar coming back from the Sabres.

Heading to trade deadline, can someone help me understand
Son of a Wing replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
First of all Kessel is not untradable on his contract. They wouldn't even have to retain salary nor would he ever pass through waivers. Their other option would be to buy him out. Which again will never happen. He'll be traded in the off-season when teams are more flexible. Technically if any player declines that much, the only way to "get out" would be to retire or get bought out. Also if a player just stops reporting to the team he's assigned to then the team can terminate the contract eventually. -
Kane + Bogosian + Kasdorf For Myers + Stafford + Armia + Lemieux + latest 1st rounder Link Edit: Added link

Clarkson's contract is "buyout-proof" because of the way it's structured. Just google "Clarkson buy-out proof" and you'll see what I mean. -

The only word I've seen associated with Stafford in the past few years is Lazy. Now I don't watch a lot of Buffalo games, so I'm no expert on the guy. But that doesn't sound like Abby. Who knows though.... Maybe he just needs a fresh start? Buy low? Could pay off. -

No way Jose. Mainly because Larkin+ anything is alot to give up (in my opinion) for a guy who's contract is expiring after next year. That's more than I'd be willing to risk. -

Nope he didn't Frank. He said this... Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva Talks intensified between Ducks and Sabres on Tyler Myers. Other teams have interest in Myers. Can he be traded ? Its a real possibility. Unless you're referring to the random poster on HFBoards who said this... ...and then proceeded to get laughed off the boards. (even by Sabres fans) -

Do you have a link? Because there's a big difference between an Eklund rumour and a Bob McKenzie rumour.... -
Fedorov - was pre-cap Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Crosby/Malkin/Bergeron/Krejci - are the best forwards on their team and is not some kind of standard. It's a luxury that they happen to be natural centers. Kesler/Spezza - only put up over 60 points as #1 centers on their previous teams. Pavelski - doesn't even play center for the Sharks. Him and Joe play on the same line lol Who else ya got since "the list goes on and on"? lol

Ok...but did you forget what the conversation was even about?? You mentioned it would be easy for Toronto to trade Phaneuf in the off-season and get rid of his salary so they could tie up other important pieces. aka Franson. This is what you said... Taking on Richards doesn't help that...It just adds another bloated contract. Which doesn't make any sense whatsoever. -
But they've got TRUCULENCE!

LA? Seriously? The one team with 5 players with salaries of 7 million or higher next year and another two at 6 million. Yeah that's going to work great for them. -
Two words Frank: SALARY CAP

Says the guy who think it would be so easy to unload Phaneuf in the off-season... -
Paterson played 4.5 years on a brutal Saginaw team and still managed to keep his save% over .900 and was even selected for the world juniors. Since being traded to Kitchener this year he has posted 2.08 GAA and .932 S%. Not to shabby...
-
Well that's just not true at all. Where do you get your numbers exactly?? Only 21 centers in the entire league put up over 60 points last year. So no...that is not the benchmark for a second-line center. Also you seem to confuse potential ceiling with current ability.
-
I do think we'll take a goalie somewhere in the draft. Not with the first though. Jake Paterson was also named OHL goaltender of the month for January.
-
So how do all of these points not apply to our defense prospects as well?? Bottom-line is we have more quality young forwards and forward prospects than we do young quality defencemen and defensemen prospects.
-
Soooo you complain about lack of experience yet then suggest they should hire Gilmour... Yeah he's been a GM in juniors... Just like Dubas... No Shanahan has not been a GM...
