Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
Son of a Wing replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
On a related note... I'd love to see Tim Murray (Sabres GM) completely skunk himself. His asking prices for...well...just about everyone are ridiculous. Stewart, Stafford and Enroth(Pending UFAs) are all supposedly worth a 1st and a top prospect. We all know the price for Myers as well. -

I just don't think Holland would offer up Ouellet or any of our top prospects. Which is exactly why we don't see many trades... I don't believe many teams are interested in a package of 2-3 underachievers and a 2nd. Unless it's a rental/cap dump/+35er its going to cost us a valuable roster piece +. Also I'm pretty sure it will be one of our young wingers going in a trade eventually. Simply a numbers game. -

I think it has to do with Holland's extreme reluctance to trade roster players(until after their value hits rock bottom ie.Kindl), combined with the fact we only ever seem to offer our second-tier prospects. Also WE may think our trade proposals are fair but most other teams fans would find them insulting. But then again everyone overvalues their own assets. Including us... -
Unfortunately I'm surrounded by it

You've got it backwards. Franson wanted a long-term deal. Leafs had limited cap-space and couldn't/wouldn't take the risk.
-
Leafs made a huge bone-headed move resigning Gardiner instead of Franson.

This game is incredibly entertaining!

Good for the Slovaks to get the Bronze. Played a solid team game and really sharpened up after that initial blowout to Canada.

Some high prices out there for defencemen. I'd take a chance on Mark Streit for cheap. Detroit loves it's elder statesmen. Get creative Holland. -
They did mention their own teams pick them so I'm guessing they just wanted to spread around the love. (and fancy souvenir stick and puck)

How the hell did Godla not get player of the game???
-
Wow Godla has been Godlike. Good for him.

Canada's looking better now. Started slow. Shots 14-2 in the third. Slovak goalie standing on his head and playing amazing.
-
Sweden looking just plain bad in this game against Russia. Sloppy game overall.
-
Great trade for the Oilers.
-
They were pretty legit penalties. USA is chasing. Hoping Larkin can step it up in the 2nd and 3rd and come back.
-
Geeze people need to lighten up.

Go Canada Go!!

Its a numbers game in terms to the roster, not financially. He's obviously not part of the plans past this year. Arcobello is a borderline NHLer.
-
A team rarely claims a guy off waivers anymore. It's a numbers game and you usually need a contract going the other way.
-
Wow Larkin looked excellent vs Germany. Definitely weaker competition, but really happy with his play. Great skater with nice hands and all-round ability.
-
Domi does look very impressive. NHL-ready I'd say. Same with Duclair.
-
Go Canada Go! Also..tickets for the World Juniors have been sold in packages for sometime now. Nothing to do with being in Canada. lol

You're not gifted anything as a pro. Check out the Oilers if you want to see the product of that.

Zetterberg and Datysuk will never be traded. Ever. In order to get Hall, Detroit would have to overpay if they're just offering mainly prospects and futures. Especially since we don't really have a young proven stud defenceman. Start with Nyquist + Mantha + Mrasek +...
