Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

Slight over-payment for this year but great value overall. Love the 3 year term with RFA status at the end.

Hockey News: Detroit has the easiest schedule

You're always disregarding other people's "opinions" and talking about your "FACTS" but it's clear you don't understand either concept....

I'm sorry but I think it's completely ridiculous that you're grouping us in with those teams.

Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

I totally understand why he's gotten frustrated in relation to starting on the bench and spending a while in the AHL. In fact I think that's a positive thing. It shows he has drive and wants to prove himself and keep getting better. That's not what rubs me the wrong way.... It's the fact that he vents his frustrations to the press. If you don't like the way you're being handled as an hockey player/employee/human being then express that to your agent/boss/GM, not The Detroit news and various Czech newspapers. How many other Red Wings do you see doing that? So to clarify... I think he has the right attitude. He's just immature in how he deals with it.

Hockey News: Detroit has the easiest schedule

With the exception of Detroit, Tampa Bay and possibly Columbus, every other Eastern team who made the playoffs has taken a serious step back or are in cap hell. Washington looks good on paper but they have always looked pretty good on paper. (aside from their goaltending) Carolina did nothing to improve. Islander's defence is a joke and who knows with the Leafs. Personally, I like our chances....

Going to work when you're grieving is no doubt difficult. But that's not something you get "rewarded" for, nor does it show loyalty. That's life.

Why would any GM give up anything for Kindl and his contract when a guy like Del Zotto is available for free and on a lesser contract.

    Callahan and Nestrasil re-signed

Callahan signed for 1 year at $555,000. Nestrasil signed for 1 year at S550,000. Facebook Capgeek. Hard to go wrong with these guys at league minimum.

I very much disagree with that. I think because they develop longer they end up better players because of it and thus make more money. I still remember when Tatar was venting to the media a while back about how tough it was to watch Cory Conacher playing in the NHL when he knew he was just as good. Well....look at how that worked out for each of them....

Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

I think that's being awfully generous... I was thinking more along the lines of Killorn in Tampa. Probably at a slightly less annual average. *I'm referring to possible salary comparisons not types of players.

Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV

You don't compare UFAs with RFAs. Cleary to Tatar and earlier mentioned was Dekeyser to Quincey. It doesn't work like that... On a side note....I can see the Tatar negotiations taking a while. Tatar expects to be PAID....

    Red Wings & the Media

But you're acting as if, if the right questions were asked, Holland would be all forth-coming with "the truth". He has his famous sayings.. "I like our team" etc. for a reason. They don't have to answer to us whether we like that or not. Success has granted them some leniency in that department. If that continues downward I don't expect them to turn to their fan-base for direction. Again, I read the Wings media reports to get updates on players (reports, stats, facts) and read opinion pieces to better reflect on my own. Not to read Holland Q&As.

    Red Wings & the Media

I said "more like" which is true and *not extreme at all. Besides I think that's a slippery slope and hard to find a middle-ground. Bottom-line I rely on the beat writers for daily factual updates and the columnists for opinion pieces. I could care less if Holland is posed with those questions. What does that accomplish? *Ok maybe it was a little extreme after re-reading my comment.

I couldn't disagree more with that first sentence... By the sounds of it your advocating for a media atmosphere more like Toronto. I live in that media sphere and let me tell you it is one huge distraction for that team.

    Red Wings & the Media

I don't care about the media "asking the tough questions". I really don't. I don't get off on the idea of seeing Holland squirm in his seat and hum and hah. What does that accomplish? People act like he's going to have an epiphany and all it takes is people confronting him about it and then he's going to see the light! In today's era of social media they know the general consensus of their fan base's opinion. It doesn't take a beat reporter's "digging" to find that out. (Much like what 55fan was saying) I rely on the media to give me facts. I'd love more insider info but I also see how that can be counter-productive to the Wings doing business. I read blogs and message boards (LGW) to hear other people opinions so I can better reflect on my own (which I've gained from watching as many games as I can).

This article has absolutely nothing to do with "the job Ken Holland is doing". People are just using it as another soapbox to complain from.

He names Bruce McLeod and and Ansar Khan who's quotes actually did not support his position or back his opinion of John Hahn in any way.

  25. Son of a Wing

    Red Wings & the Media

I think it's ironic that he criticizes how the Wings treat bloggers differently yet in this very piece he shows why they should be. It's full out slander on John Hahn with absolutely zero actual evidence but "anonymous" quotes backing his own opinion of him. A lot of this piece just rubs me the wrong way....
