I don't really like the fact that the majority of his thesis is based upon the statements of "anonymous" sources. Kinda comes off as a little bitter... Not that I don't agree with a lot of what he says....

We should turn this into a metric vs imperial debate. I feel it coming.....lol -
I love when people start differentiating between us real and us fake fans... I'd never be able to tell us apart....

They're actually pretty fair contracts when you consider the comparables and the term of the contract and how the market might change. Weber - 14mil Crosby - 12mil (hometown discount) Parise - 12mil Suter - 12mil Lundquist - 11mil Ovechkin - 10mil Datsyuk - 10mil Giroux - 10mil Kessel 10mil They just weren't able to lower the cap-hit because they're still pretty young. -

It's like deja vu... -
Lefty I think the biggest problem I see in the whole "rebuild" and "go for it" stances, is so many people act like every GMs are so willing to take our scrubs for picks and our fading vets/mid-tier guys for their upcoming stars.

Sorry but Volchenkov is NOT better than Quincey. Some peoples hatred is blinding... He's approaching his mid-30s with significant injury history from making his living blocking shots and playing an abrasive style with ZERO offensive upside. It's like he fills all our needs! -
Plus many of us block certain users posts so we can choose which to read....

Soooo you're agreeing with me? I can't tell. I was arguing that Green would put up 55 points. aka be successful in our system.
-
Kronwall hit 49 this past season. I dont think 55 for Mike Green is out of the question considering his skillset.
-
Athanasiou has developed into one of our top prospects. At least I think so....
-
Then who? No team is going to accept any combination of our bottom-tier (Kindl, Andersson, Glendening, Ferraro, Callahan, Jensen) no matter how many of them people want to throw in.
-
Those would be fair. I could also see Pulkkinen + Jensen + 2nd/3rd. I just wouldn't be that surprised to see Tatar traded either.
-
Anderson has no value and Franzen isn't going anywhere. He's a wing for life whether people like it or not.
-
I didn't even mention Mantha. That would be ridiculous. I said Tatar or Pulkkinen plus Kndl(which is a dump and if anything has negative value) and a conditional pick on resigning. I don't think that's out of line since I don't see us trading our 1st and we've got to give up something of value.
-
People also seem to think Kindl has positive value in a trade. At his contract, I don't think that's the case.
-
Because it's pretty well known that that's the starting point for many GMs we try and trade with....
-
Size, Skill, Aggressiveness, Defensive Awareness, Younger, Higher ceiling, Doesn't vent to the press every time he has an issue with playing time/role/contract.
-
And yet you're more than willing to give up Jurco (a more valuable player)....... Tatar is two years older...I sure hope he's outplayed him...
-
I don't think Tatar is anywhere close to being an untouchable... He's a valuable player but not that valuable.
-
True but he hasn't cracked 40 points since the 2009 season because of recurring groin and concussion issues. I'm all for a Green trade but let's not kid ourselves. We shouldn't be selling the farm for another injury prone guy. Tatar OR Pulkkinen plus Kindl and a conditional pick on resigning. Similar to the package Dats-Deke proposed.
-
It'll be interesting to see how the rosters play out. I just don't see Ferraro or Callahan making the big club. If they're on the AHL roster then I don't think Nestrasil/Frk/Tvrdon will make it. There just won't be room. Probably be ECHL bound again.

Because Marchenko is injured. LINK
