Ya good luck with that. Then he'd have to be accountable to the things he says. lol I'm with ya in terms of those guys starting in the minors. Hell I'd get Griffins season tickets to see that squad. (If I lived there) Jurco Athanasiou Mantha Nastasiak Miele Pulkkinen Ferraro Nosek Callahan Ouellet Marchenko Backman Sproul Nedomlel Jensen Mrazek *sprinkle in the AHL vets I also agree that Weiss is going to have a great year.

I'm not questioning your status/role on this site. Many of us have been here just as long... That doesn't make our opinion any more or less valid. We're still just one voice. My point was that you can't really be THAT surprised that people take issue/offense to some of the things you say. Especially when you are so confident in your stance despite the fact that it can be quite outlandish to many. Anyways....I think Mantha would benefit most with some minor-league seasoning. Same with AA. Between those two and Pulkkinen we've got a nice diverse trio of forwards to choose from.

You can't be serious.... You take extremely hard-lined stances on the most ridiculous, knee-jerk (doing my best to use polite words) opinions and then get all surprised and defensive when everybody (but Richdg or Degra55) disagrees with you. It's like clockwork around here...

Don't forget about Howard...

I didn't say don't trade our youth. I said don't trade those specific players. In fact I made a point of saying I'm not anti-trade. I'd be more than open to trading a combination of a high draft pick and one or two of Tatar, Pulkinnen, Backman, Ouellet for the right piece. But it better be a damn good piece... I see it as a slow build and "stocking of the shelves" and not a status of neutral. We're building WHILE staying competitive and that's tougher than it sounds. We currently have the 3rd highest ranked group of prospects in the entire league AND we've got a playoff team. Only Anaheim, Chicago and Tampa Bay also have that Potential/Current talent mix. No we're not a "legitimate contender" but with the right move or two and our young core furthering their development, we could see a serious run soon. Yes I believe that.

I think this where the fundamental divide is. I don't think we have to do either extreme. That doesn't mean I'm pro-Cleary/Quincey or anti-trade but it does mean I don't think we should seriously compromise our future. ie. Trading Mantha, Sproul, Nyquist, AA/ Signing mid-range UFAs to overpaid long-term deals. (I'm not referencing Niskanen)

Actually Bertuzzi did deserve that game. More so than Andersson deserved his.
-
I don't think that's the result at all. Tough choices get made. People get sat when it counts and even waived. It's just not as knee-jerk in Detroit. Bertuzzi, Sammy and Cleary played a whopping 1 game combined in the playoffs. Kindl was in the press box by the end. Andersson barely touched the ice. As long as we make the playoffs, I don't think they'll question those methods during the regular season.

That's actually a myth...

I honestly think they are trying to build and maintain a culture here where players feel safe and appreciated. Where if they have go through a slump, they won't fear being traded or instantly replaced. Obviously they go to extremes at times.(Cleary) But sometimes the message sent can have a more profound impact down the road than the immediate repercussions. I'm sure many believe that fear can motivate a player but I don't think that's a stable way of doing business. I just don't see us trading roster players unless there's an issue with attitude or commitment or just too many bodies. We definitely struck out this year in free agency. No looking past that. That's on management. Injuries...that's a tough thing to place blame on.

I've never understood this saying as it's not even close to the definition... We're building a system and it takes time. Taking a look at the players coming through our system I'd say it's working.

Today, NHL also approved compensation for a team losing someone hired to be head coach, GM or President/Hockey Ops with another club. Generally, we're talking a third-round draft pick, and the club doing the hiring will have a window of three years to give it up. Elliotte Friedman Twitter Great news for us.

I can't see him living this one down... -
How are Glendenning and Miller in rotating top 6 roles?? You realize forward depth is one of our strengths right? Just because we didn't land a top defenceman doesn't turn half our roster into an AHL squad.... I'm as disappointed as anyone but some of you guys need a serious reality check...
-
If you think that squad would "Tank" then I think you need a lesson in talent analysis...
-
Where did you hear that? Everything I've read states it's all just speculation.

It really is like the day before Christmas....except we've got some twisted f*** Santa who makes kids fight over gifts...

The response was in regards to a comment about Ryan...but obviously you didn't read it...

They are no better than what we have and the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. Besides, Edmonton and Buffalo have two of the weakest defensive cores in the league...by far. They're turning their attention to UFAs and other players for a reason.
-
Ottawa is not going to trade their potential top scorer to a divisional rival. It has nothing to do with Holland. Vancouver had to because they had no other choice.
-
There's just no way Kindl has positive value in a trade anymore. The market has changed. Teams are desperate to rid themselves of salary not take it on for a borderline guy. Unless we're taking an inflated salary back or retaining a bunch of it....I don't see him going anywhere. Teams with lots of space (Buffalo, Florida) are looking to gain picks and assets by taking on salary. Not give them up.

Who needs Sheahan and Jurco when you have Havlat? lol

Is it just me or does Stevie Y come off as a huge ****** in interviews? Crack a smile for Christ's sake. FYI I'm a huge Stevie fan.
