Putting that much blame on one player is pretty short-sighted. He'll step up in the second half.

I'm excited to see what this Athanasiou kid can do in the future at the pro level. Fun comparison: Mantha - GP-44 G-47 A-50 P-97 Athanasiou - GP-49 G-35 A-37 P-72 Key Points: 1. Athanasiou plays in a lower scoring league (OHL vs QMJHL) 2. Only 1 month difference in age between them. 3. Athanasiou has Helm-like speed. I am not saying these prospects are on the same level. They're not. More so just trying to bring to light the accomplishments of Athanasiou. Having a huge breakout season.

Ah Matt Greene. He's like a bigger, RH shooting Mark Stuart. Also he's from Michigan....I like it.
-
I would love Greene. Very underrated. Don't see NJ dealing their best defencemen though. But who knows. Could see a guy like Mark Stuart or Cory Sarich as a depth deal. Both are pending UFAs and fairly low risk/cost.

Preview Link They might also post it there once it airs.

There's varying degrees of strokes and a lot of different factors. For me, I was sitting down and it came out of no where. Dizzyness, tingle sensation, then just blackout. I woke up laying on the ground surrounded and people told me they just saw my head drop (like I had fallen a sleep) and then started shaking and fell over to the side. I guess it only lasted a few seconds but I don't remember any of it. Just the tingle/dizzy right before.

Finland hurting. Mikko Koivu, Saku Koivu, Filppula are all out. So who's playing center?? Barkov, Granlund and Jokinen? Weak.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
Son of a Wing replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
For sure, no worries. I think Almquist and other border-line prospects (Callahan, Ferraro) become such polarizing topics because there's such a wide ranging opinion on them. Some people see them as serving good roles on the team next year while others think it's laughable to even think they could crack the league ever. So it can lead to some heated discussion. No doubt though, they all have an uphill battle. -

Who's going head-over-heels for him?? I only brought him up as a lesser-comparison to Enstrom. If anything I was critical of Almquist... Are we not allowed to discuss borderline prospects and be hopeful they might surprise people?? Sheesh... Debbie downers... -
This condition is actually pretty common. On average, up to 1/3 of people have that hole not fully close. Strokes are a known side-effect unfortunately.

In case people missed the opening ceremonies... *They were actually very well done. lol

Yeah I remember reading recently that Almquist is really struggling to put on weight and that his body type/frame just isn't built for it. Here's the quote. This will be a huge off-season for him. He no doubt has the mind for the game and has that dynamic potential not a lot of defencemen have. -
Yeah I've had a very minor stroke. Didn't screw me up too much. It happens. They're more common than people think. Many go undiagnosed. Glad to here he's getting treatment.
-
A non-displaced fracture isn't necessarily that serious. They can heal quickly depending on the severity. Displaced is much much worse. Regardless wish him a speedy recovery. Feel bad for him...
-
Well some people want him on the team so his value was brought up. It's not like it's unrelated.

Why are you shouting?? -
No, no and no. Getzlaf, Perry and Parise are all much better hockey players.

We do need a true PP quarterback, but I don't think Enstrom's that guy. Not to mention he has a full no-movement clause and Winnipeg are contenders again. Plus I'd like to see what Almquist can do and they're similar players. Obviously Almquist is a much lesser version and unproven but could surprise people. -
I feel there is a wide range of opinions on what our RFAs will earn in the upcoming year/s going forward. Figured it would make for good discussion. There are 4 guys who have played a role on our team this year with an expiring contract and RFA status. - Dekeyser, Tatar, Sheahan, Glendening. Give your opinion on the contract value and term involved. Keep in mind when UFA status is for each player. I will list details for each. Dekeyser - Undoubtedly a top 3 defenceman on this team right now. - UFA going into 2017/18 when he is entering the season over 27. - 2 year bridge deal or long-term lockup? Tatar - Promising young player who's developing into a top 6-9 scoring forward. - UFA going into 2017/18 when he will be entering his 8th contract year. - 2 year bridge deal or long-term lockup? Sheahan - 1st round pick. High potential to become solid 2-way forward. - UFA going into 2018/19 when he will be entering his 8th contract year. - 1-3 year bridge deal or long-term lockup? Glendening - Future/current grinder and penalty killer. 4th liner. - UFA going into 2016/17 when he is entering the season over 27. - Year-by-year or multi-year deal? - Qualifying offer(aka minimum) is 605,000. *Only included RFA players who have earned a role so far with the Wings or played significant time. So no Callahan, Ferraro, Emmerton or Almquist.
-
To be honest, I don't think I've seen enough of Glendening to make that call. He seems to really work his but off all the time. Then again, a lot of guys do when they first break into the league. So for now I'll say Andersson for his face-off ability till I see more of Glendening.

This. Reading some quotes from Pav and Helm has me thinking maybe this is a pairing we could see a lot of if it works.
-
Well hopefully our Wings fare better against Florida then the Leafs did the other night. Got a good feeling about this one. LGW!

I don't think dragonballgtz is that far off for the term he's stating them for. D would probably get around 5 years @ 4 mil if they were talking a longer contract. If we're going to sign any of them longer term, Dekeyser would be the safest bet.
