Olympics provide much needed time off for Red Wings

And the other half in Grand Rapids...lol -
Also keep in mind that if Dekeyser and Tatar sign 3 year deals that puts them right into UFA status at the end.

Steven Stamkos will not play for Team Canada at the Sochi Olympics.

In related news Gaborik is out of the Olympics and H Sedin is very doubtful. -

What in the world gives you the idea he would decline?? -
Fixed the format so it's more readable.

Trust me, I'm Canadian. I want him there. But if his bone isn't fully healed then there's no way he can go. Injuries aren't fair but that's life. Health trumps all. Speaking of fairness though...I don't think it'd be fair to a player like St Louis to bring Stamkos as 13/14 knowing you might possibly never play him. -

You can't be serious...That was an opinion after he found out the doctors ruling....It's as if you ignored the entire article but that one line... -

It was the doctor's decision....not Steve's... Did you read it?? -

I feel for him. He did his best. St Louis, Giroux, or Neal?? -
I feel this is a big misconception just because he has played the point on the powerplay. The difference is negligible.

Gotta go with Miller for his body of work and reliability with the Wings. He's been flat-out our best penalty killer for years. Eaves is eligible for waivers now and I don't think he would clear at this time if exposed. Besides, lots up players raise their game in their contract year. Miller has been consistent for years.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

What Dabura said. My point wasn't overly clear. I was referring to the thought of replacing his contract. -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
Son of a Wing replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
It doesn't work that way with LTIR unless you know 100% the player has an injury where you know he's out long long term. ex. Savard, Pronger. Franzen is not that case. -
That's what I said...

I'm holding back any judgement till I hear if they're changing the blackout policies. -
As many people here have stated. Let's wait till he's healthy to make judgements and comparisons.

If Datsyuk returns Thursday, who's up next to sit?
Son of a Wing replied to ash11's topic in General
No. Just the IR. According to capgeek though neither is Franzen. Only Weiss. -
I think that's a a very easy/ignorant (albeit popular) position to take for the average joe. You can't judge a successful wealthy person for not being a full-out philanthropist. You can applaud them for being one though. Just because he is wealthy, does not make him responsible.

Aside from Franzen, Kindl is the only other player not skating. (lower body injury) I wonder if the place him on IR to get down to the 23-man roster. -
So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

So much for his trademark. -

We still have to clear a salary off our books before they return. So waive someone on the way out or trade someone of value. I don't see Holland "trading anyone he sees here in the future" so waiving Cleary now would maximize the cap relief. (little as it is) Considering that, it does make sense. I don't think they'll do it though. -

People shouldn't be so quick to cast off Andersson. He is one of our best faceoff men and is a solid defensive player with decent size. I just wish he could be a little meaner. Sometimes he needs a fire lit under him. "Luke Glendening is not eligible to be assigned to the Griffins during the Olympics" Link -

Glendening can't be sent down till after the Olympic break because of the amount of games he's played. Sheahan will be playing in Grand Rapids during the break. Because of this I think Sheahan will be sent down. -
I bet if this thread was titled..."Fetisov claims limo crash was no accident" it would get ALOT more hits. Just sayin...lol

Kindl not representing Czech Republic @ Olympics
Son of a Wing replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
I don't buy it. I think they're basing it entirely on past performances. Hence Cervenka in the top 6 and Nedved on the team. I do agree they chose Erat because they believe he's a better defensive player and skater and he will play in the bottom 6.
