That wouldn't make any sense for the league.

Didn't expect it to be over 70m for this next season. Great news for us.

I love the optimism but I think you know this comparison is a little far fetched. lol Prorating a player's first 9 games over a full season is a little silly. Regardless I think it will be hugely beneficial for them to learn from Datsyuk/Zetterberg.

Two Questions for people who believe there's a chance we move Franzen. 1. When in the last decade (or ever) has Ken Holland traded away an established player from this team. I recall Jason Williams. Kozlov and Ward if you go over a decade. 2. Why would he choose now to shake up the team? Why trade one of our top goal scorers when one of our greatest needs is secondary scoring. He's not as easy to replace as some people think.

That's the thing. He always seems a step behind. Even when he does get the puck he doesn't seem strong on it. I am starting to really wonder how much of a toll injuries have taken on Weiss. He has/had the skillset for 60 points. I've seen it. Just not recently and not with the Wings.

As was the knee to Marchand's head. Both actions were pretty gutless. -
I thought the recapture was worse than it is. It's actually not that bad. His cap-hit through to 2020 based on year retiring. 2015- 1.45m 2016- 2m 2017-2.6m 2018- 2.95m 2019- 2.95 With Franzen being the X factor he can be for us and the cap expecting to rise as high as 80m in the next few years, he's definitely worth keeping.

Announced tonight during Devils game that Datsyuk is confirmed to be back for Tuesday vs Florida.

Wait... you mean the Sun-Sentinal isn't the all knowing authority on all things hockey? lol

Weiss is well aware of his struggles. Talks about it.

But the "flawed system" with punishment determined by outcome/injury is a direct result of diving and players trying to sell calls. One is a direct result of the other. It may be flawed but I don't necessarily see a better alternative. The league would turn into a diving circus if punishment was just determined on action alone. Regardless I think this hit looked worse initially than it really was.

Everything has got to be extremes with you people. I just said I had hoped Weiss was going to step up. It was a great opportunity for him. That's all. Didn't blame the game on him.

Talk about salt in the wound.

I was really hoping for Weiss to step up tonight...

Do Quincey and Smith have a future in Detroit?
Son of a Wing replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
To be fair to the topic starter that's not the question that was put up for discussion. They just felt Smith was more the odd-man out with Kindl's contract. -

Defence may not be his strongest attribute but he's certainly paid not to be a liability. Which he is at times. -

He has the 6th highest PP time on the entire team. He damn well better have 10 points to show for that. He's been as turnover-prone as Quincey at times. Of course defencemen are paid for their defence. -
injured Zetterberg out at least 2 weeks with herniated disc
Son of a Wing replied to 13dangledangle's topic in General
There are degrees of herniated discs, as well like any injury it depends on what age you get them at. Obviously this isn't Zetterberg's first back injury. I'm also going to assume Zetterberg's doctors are of a different class than your father/co-workers. -

I think Backman is really going to surprise a lot of people. He already averages over 20min/night in the SEL. -

Well I'm going to be an optimist and go with the fact that injuries vary from person to person and he's getting the best medical advice money can buy. It's also a "small herniated disc" which I guess is better than what it's been in the past. -

I would trade Kindl waaaaay before I would trade Smith.
