For people wanting to know our final cap situation and when Nyquist can come up. Capgeek officially tweeted this: With current roster maintained, we will have enough to call up Nyquist in mid-January (no sooner) OR have 2mil in total space at the deadline if he's not recalled. Source

    Versteeg traded to Chicago

Three reasons players go to Florida: 1.They get drafted there 2. They're going to retire there 3.They're cashing in on a fat pay day so the team can hit the cap floor.

This "line" you speak of is the standings. There is no limit on waiver pickups. For reference: if 10 players were placed on waivers today, Buffalo would have first dibs on all 10 of them. Waivers Guide

Wait a minute, wasn't it Chicago who was supposed to be in cap hell, not us? Bizarro World

    Versteeg traded to Chicago

Caphit was 4.4m and is now 2.2m with two years remaining past this season. That's a lot of money for Florida to pay to make a guy go away.

Cleary in, Tatar out against Caps

No one responded to your trolling in the Weiss thread so you decided to try it here?

Cleary in, Tatar out against Caps

Judging from an outsider's perspective I can totally understand why Babcock's approach and overall coaching style can eventually lead to eye rolls and having players tuned out. Which again (as Motown4013 stated), makes the role of Renney and the assistants just that much more important. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Blashill. (who I'm a big fan of)

Cleary in, Tatar out against Caps

It'd be nice to see them bring in another "hockey mind" into the front office. Especially after losing Nill. I'm not saying fire anybody but get a fresh perspective.

Hudler is a top line guy on the Flames. Easily the weakest forward grouping in the NHL. He's a 2nd/3rd line scoring forward on most other teams. Great support player, but definitely not a go to guy. Great on him though. Happy to see him doing well. He won't see that kind of time on a contender though. There's a reason for that. I agree Renney has a key role on our bench as well.

Can we just let this thread die...too much whine not enough cheese.

Cleary in, Tatar out against Caps

The way Babcock sees it is we played a great game IN SPITE of the fact we were without the services of the incredulous Cleary. We're bound to win if he's in the lineup. lol

Haha I know what you meant, you've expressed it before and I agree. I just like to give you a hard time.

Like who the Oilers?? lol Ok I'm trolling. But you see my point. Which successful team fits that criteria? It's more about having the right mix.

I find it interesting that everyone loves to hate on Smith and Quincey and yet give Kindl a free ride. Kindl is just as error prone as those two yet plays much easier minutes. (Lots of PP, no PK)

    An honest question about Nyquist

He's not an aggressive player but that doesn't mean you can't use your size to your advantage in other ways. He will fill out his frame and he is definitely the best pure goal scoring prospect we have.

Overtime modifications on table at GMs meeting.

Regardless, It's just a bad idea. lol You're turning it into a circus. Same with the thought of including SO goals in stats. Never ever going to happen. Try and change the game too much and it turns into a joke. I would prefer 3 on 3 instead of SO but I can't ever see them swallowing their pride and eliminating it. Just attempting to make them less frequent.

That is straight from his profile. It's well known the Red Wings front office is run by committee as opposed to just Holland. There's more than enough blame to go around.

What the hell is the point of having a capologist if we can't even avoid situations like this?? A preteen on capgeek could have seen this coming a mile away. Thankfully we gave Ryan Martin even more responsibility since Nill left.

    An honest question about Nyquist

I think this is fairly common practice for every team since the salary cap was introduced. Simply put, teams need to develop young players to fill their roster out with budding potential on entry-level deals. GM's talk about this all the time. It's nothing new.

    An honest question about Nyquist

Sproul, Jurco and Mantha have star potential. They all have great size and have been very successful at every level they've competed at. Mrazek as well.

    Varlamov Arrested

It should be noted, the reason the court date was set back is because the police have yet to present a case to the DA's office. Which also means he has yet to be officially charged with a crime from that night.

Babs Finally happy about 2nd line

It's easy to notice offensive flash as opposed to defensive zone coverage and picking up your man through the neutral zone.
