If everyone did it....then it wouldn't be referred to as "tearing it up". It would be average.
-
Bottom-line it allows more flexibility under the cap by allowing players to be sent down and called up at will until they hit that mark.
-
Not a one-time deal. If 30 days pass or they play 10 games after they are waived, then they are eligible for waivers again. It's always been this way. The only difference is they eliminated the re-entry waivers in the most recent CBA.

I believe the phrase is "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't". They feel with our system that's even more important. I get that way of thinking. Unfortunately Wings brass just seem to take it to a whole other level.

Great another "I told you Weiss was going to suck" post. Seems all you guys are coming out of the woodwork. Surprised you didn't quote yourself like the rest... I'll be concerned if he's still not successful late in the season. We have him committed for over 400 games. Let's not burn him at the stake after 16. Jurco, Sheahan, Ferraro are not close to being a second line center. Alfredsson? Yeah who wants a proven top line right handed shooting forward completely for free with no risk on a discount. How silly of us.

nm Respectfully disagreed with FG's thought process but didn't want to open a can of worms.

Who is the Most Underappreciated Red Wing?

Tell that to Edmonton because they sure can't seem to find guys for those roles. (Yes they have many issues other than that) -
He's got nice control and passing ability when leading the puck up ice but just seemed lost and over-powered in his own end. He should have been taught in peewee not to have two defencemen behind the net.
-
Well he did contribute to it more than any player...but i guess it's not something negative... Besides it was a joke there bud..hence the lol...lol
-
You mean the Quincey-lead penalty kill?? lol He lead with over 5:00 in PK. datterberg1340 you're a hypocrite for "liking" that statement lol

How dare you say Kindl after tonight's game lol If anything I feel Kindl gets too much credit. He plays very protected minutes with Dekeyser and absolutely no PK. Babcock plays Smith on the PK before Kindl. I definitely disagree Miller is that expendable. Especially on his salary in a cap world. It's not necessarily a whipping boy. Just who doesn't get enough credit for what they provide. -
Wow you really think Quincey has been our worst defencman tonight??
-
Nice strip by Quincey that lead to the penalty.
-
Singling out Quincey in this game...just shows the irrational hate for him. There are players for us that have played much worse
-
It's the forwards who are letting them fly through the neutral zone untouched entering our zone with great speed. Comparing the Jets to the Oilers is not fair. The Jets are a much better "team".
-
lol at the Quincey hate and not one mention of Kindl. What was Quincey supposed to do on the second goal? Block the pass to the forward charging the net AND the wide open trailer lol

In regards to Quincey (I've never been a fan), he does play pretty tough minutes. Lots of PK with very little PP. Compared to new fan favorite in Kindl, who plays literally no PK time (ok 6sec avg/game) and a ton of PP time. Even Smith averages over a minute of PK per game. It's no wonder Kindl is exposed a lot less often. -

I don't think Ericsson is underappreciated at all. In the past sure but not anymore. I've never even seen an argument that Ericsson shouldn't be in the top 2 on this team with our current guys. -
Flyers Say Brawl Has United The Team They're such a joke. I hope they tank the rest of the season and lose the lottery.

If you're claiming to quote someone then quote them. Don't change the wording to sound worse than what it was. He said "to get a couple key saves would definitely help." He's absolutely right and is referring to all the goalies because no one has stepped up and made those key saves to secure the job.
-
I actually thought he looked pretty good for mid-40s.

I like those lines. If you look at the teams that are having success this year quite a few seem to have 3 balanced scoring lines. San Jose, Toronto, Colorado. Now we just have to insure our scoring lines score...

Somebody is lying. She claims it was a drunken rage while other reports claim he was sober. It'll be interesting when all the details come out.

gdt 10/30 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Canucks 1

Well considering Glendening and Eaves are already on the roster, Tootoo and/or Eaves are about to be traded, and Emmerton is in the minors and can't even afford to be called up. Point is kind of moot. Not to mention Sammy ain't going anywhere. -
I actually think this makes more sense from the Avs perspective. In the long term at least. Downey is a pending UFA and the Avs have a number of key RFAs to resign at the end of the year. Talbot is a good bottom 6 guy who can play center or wing and is on a reasonable salary for the next few years. They obviously didn't have plans to resign Downey so they flipped him for a piece that can contribute now. Like almost any trade concerning a pending UFA, team with UFA = short term bonus, team with non-UFA = long-term bonus. Have to consider more than just the names. Trades are made for financial reasons as much as they are for performance reasons
