This article came out 2 hours before this was reported....

10/30 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Canucks 1

Here's hoping Kesler stays on his feet this game and isn't diving all over the place like he usually does.

    What would you do?...

As far as this season and next.... Trade Tootoo and/or Eaves. Which ever one has more value or both. Recall Nyquist. Try to make move at some point for top 2/4 defenceman and/or top 4/6 scoring/power forward. (Price will be high) Trade Quincey for pick. Replace with Lashoff/Ouellet. Go For Cup Resign RFAs - Dekeyser, Tatar, Glendening, Sheahan, Ferraro Resign UFAs - Ericsson, Alfredsson, Gustavsson Zetterberg Datsyuk Alfredsson Franzen Weiss Tatar Nyquist Helm Abdelkader Miller Anderson Glendening Ferraro Sheahan Jurco Kronwall Ericsson Kindl Dekeyser Smith Lashoff Ouellet Sproul Howard Gustavsson Add a big acquisition to that lineup and we're a serious contender for years to come.

    What would you do?...

Not a chance in hell. I really feel like a broken record regarding Sammy. Why would he accept that? He's about to turn 37, probably in his last year. Which to accept....Contend for the cup... or......go to to a bottom feeder who's going for a lottery pick..... It's not like he needs ice time to prove himself for another contract. No one will sign him after this year with his age and injury history. This is it for Sammy. He's not leaving his fellow Swedes and his last chance at a cup.

    Vanek Traded To Islanders

I really don't think that's the case anymore. Rolling Bolland, Bozak and Kadri in the top 3 lines has yielded pretty good results.

These aren't the Vets you are looking for...

Don't understand the thought process here at all. So because they're not hall-of-famers they can't have leadership skills, maturity and other positive "veteran qualities" younger players can learn from? Average league payroll has increased by 50%. If you don't understand how that and the cap level the playing field....well I think it's obvious. I'd love to hear all the great players that are available to replace them. You seem to be content ranting yet not providing any viable solution or alternative. I have to ask....where have you been for the last 10 years? It's as if this is the first time you've paid attention to the wings since the cap was introduced and are all of a sudden shocked by the state of affairs.

2 words SALARY CAP You're comparing pre-cap teams to post-cap teams. It's not fair. It's not like there's a plethora of top 6 forwards or top 4 defencemen we can just go buy up like in the past. Hating on Sammy and Cleary is just too easy. Bertuzzi deserves to be on this team. Leave Weiss out of it.

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

As far as I know as long as you're hurt doing a hockey related activity(training/playing) for a team in the organization you're eligible for IR/LTIR. To get cap relief though it has to be LTIR which means the injury must be deemed serious enough by a doctor to miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days. Even then we do not gain his salary back. We can simply exceed the cap by the pro-rated amount left. Until he is back.

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

If you're looking for a defenceman out of Winnipeg I'd probably avoid Bogosian and Enstrom. I think both are overrated and would have much too high of an asking price. They're both top 3-4 defencemen but with a top 1-2 price. I'd prefer someone low-risk but proven in his own end. Mark Stuart comes to mind and is a UFA at the end of the season. Would still need to add an offensive defenceman though.

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

First off welcome to LGW. In regards to your point there's no way the club would orchestrate a plan that revolves around assuming a player is going to get injured. Not to mention we would still be short a roster man as long as he's healthy in the minors as we wouldn't be able to bring anyone up because of the cap.

    What's Killing Our Offense?

With the amount lines have changed this season the best indicator is TOI. Abdelkader is 6th, Cleary 7th with a difference of 30 seconds/game between them. That speaks for itself. Bertuzzi is 3rd in goals hence my reasoning for saying he should still have a prominent role in the bottom 6 with PP time. It's the other aspects of his game that are suspect. Hence his benching last game for poor defensive coverage. So 2-3 out of the 10 guys I listed are not known as scorers. That still leaves 7 great scoring forwards. lol It's embarassing comparing our top 9 with that. Especially considering most of their guys are drafted and developed as well.

    What's Killing Our Offense?

As long as Cleary, Bertuzzi and Abby are getting top 6 minutes we wont be a serious contender. And I'm a supporter of Abby and Bert serving big roles on this club. But they are not top 6. They're both bottom 6 with Bert having the ability to play on the PP. All you have to do is look at a team like San Jose and the depth of scorers they have in their top 9. Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Burns, Pavelski, Hertl, Havlat(IR), Wingels, Nieto, Kennedy,

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

That's fair. I was more referring to the suggestion to get him off the roster. I have a feeling they know full well that no one would claim him. Why not try it? Knowing this organization...probably just out of respect for the player they signed and committed to.

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

No you're thinking about buyouts. If we waive Sammy it takes a body off our 23 man roster and really doesn't help the cap situation at all. Thus it actually hurts us because we wouldn't be able to replace him.
  15. Son of a Wing

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

Sure there is. If someone gets banged up we won't even be able to afford to bring up a replacement.

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

As of right now we're far too close to the cap to consider it. The savings we would get from his over-35 contract would be minimal and barely enough to even have somebody replace him on the roster.
  17. Son of a Wing

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

I completely agree. I just feel everyone ignores the reality of the situation with Sammy. He's not going anywhere when we can't even afford a replacement under the cap.

    Vanek Traded To Islanders

lol That's one hell of a flip-flop. From "getting smoked" to "this isn't a bad trade at all" for the Sabres. What changed your mind?

Would you want Moulson on the Wings?

People are dreaming if they think Sammy is going anywhere. He's 37 soon and more than likely in his last year with a no-trade clause. If you were Sammy would you rather....contend for the cup one last time with a playoff team and make a run with a bunch of fellow countrymen...or...Accept to got to the worst team in the league...

Why Do They Trust The Youngsters?

"We all as humans..."?? Sounds like a the beginning of a first year philosophy paper lol "Everyday stress of life is the heaviest weight we can endure" What the hell are you talking about? As far as the rest of the gibberish is concerned you seem to miss a couple important things. For a lot of people, probably most, sports is a release from "day to day" life. It doesn't had to the stress. It's entertainment lol Also a supportive fan has a right to be a critic.

    stephen weiss

Your role on the team is indicative of your performance. Not the other way around. He failed to move up the depth chart because he failed to provide offence on a consistent basis.

    Vanek Traded To Islanders

From a risk/reward standpoint this is a slam dunk for Buffalo. Temporary replacement in Moulson plus a 1st and a 2nd for what....6 months of Vanek? Regier might have just saved his job with this one.

    HNIC Opening Montage

This is in preview of the Leafs/Pens, Canadiens/Sharks and Stars/Jets game. I think it's brilliant. But I'm also a huge Arcade Fire fan. Thought I would share.

    stephen weiss

Overreact much? lol Sorry neither Weiss or any one player is responsible for our start/lacklustre offence. I think it's a combination of adjusting to new systems/coaches/playing styles as well mental adversity and the pressure to perform. Sometimes people just need a fresh start.

    John Tortorella's other side (wow)

To hate someone in "hockey life" as opposed to "real life" is vastly different. I've never liked Torterella as a coach(far too emotional) but have always had respect for him as a person. If there's any attributes he personifies above all else its caring for others and being genuine. Well if you're making millions of dollars each year and understand how taxes work it's quite silly for them not to give a large chunk to charity.
