Feels like the season is just starting now... 10 games of weeding out some vets and getting new players adjusted to the system. 2 Goalies good to go. Our lineup is starting to resemble what it should be. All we need is Nyquist up. No excuses now.

Sabres' Scott offered in-person hearing.

5 game max. He has no suspension history. -
That's doubtful. Ouellet played the least last night out of all the defencemen. He will be better served playing top minutes in GR. Kronwall Dekeyser Kindl Quincey Smith Lashoff Quincey was the best defenceman on the ice last night. Seems to be embracing the adversity and increased role quite well.
-
And that's not even including Backman, Jensen, Marchenko and Almquist.
-
I don't really understand why Ouellet has seen action in the preseason as well as tonight while Sproul and Almquist haven't. Almquist has put his time in to at least warrant a look while Sproul is probably more of what we need in a defenceman. Maybe they're showcasing him for a trade...I know, I know, probably not a popular idea. For the record I like Ouellet but you've got to give up something to get something.

McLeod suspended 5 games for hit on Kronwall

I think boarding a guy through his numbers is worse than picking a head. Regardless the injury made the difference in these two, -
It was posted on the previous page but regardless I could see Montreal or Toronto having interest. Assuming they could free up the cap space. Specifically the Canadiens as almost all their "gritty" players seem to be injured for a while.
-
I think you're selling Kindl short though. He is that puck-moving guy and he's not as much a liability defensively as those two. We can agree we need depth on D lol
-
In all honesty I'd rather a shutdown defenceman. All our defence can skate and move the puck and with Babcock's love of playing a right handed forward on the point I don't think there's a pressing need. Not to mention it's our in-zone play that has been erratic as of late. We've been leaving our goalie out to dry.
-
They can retain up to 50% of the salary/caphit.
-
Obviously not as the NHL announces possible hearings within 24-48 hours after a game. Its been 5 days. lol
-
Like I said he was known as a perimeter guy once he got the puck. Didn't have much ability to be physical and take it to the net. Weiss does. Give him time.
-
He didn't seem to have that tenacity when being in a physical battle along the boards or really anywhere. I think the biggest criticism against him is he plays far to much on the perimeter and shies away from physical exchanges. Don't get me wrong, he's great at fetching and digging for the puck but once it starts to get physical he's not nearly as effective.

Franzen + Quincey For Simmonds + Meszaros Get er done Kenny
-
I kinda got the impression that he would have signed a multi-year deal if not for our cap situation. Instead he signed for a discount this year and will get more next year. Pure speculation on my part but I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it plays out.
-
I agree with you there. No-trade clause + negative value = In our sweet dreams.
-
Think about it again from the viewpoint of a team like Buffalo or Florida though. They're not making the playoffs and are not even close to contenders. They're number one priority is long-term growth player and development. So why bring in overpaid guy like Sammy who's borderline retired and not known for his leadership? He will only take away minutes from those whom the team actually wants to develop while (if he actually did provide scoring) distancing them from a lottery pick. Teams like that (whether losing or not) want to create a positive atmosphere and a guy who just got ditched by a cup contender is not going to help with that.
-
There is no way a team would pick up Sammy off waivers. I don't see any likely scenario where that would happen. Wishful thinking. In regards to salary retention, we can only withhold a maximum of 50%
-
Doesn't matter he has a full no-trade clause.
-
I don't remember the last time I saw the Wings respond to this kind of adversity for a full game. Some days they just look plain flat. Not today.
-
This is a great game.
-
People just hate on him because he's top 6. His skating and confidence has gotten better every year.
-
It was more a statement in regards to expectations although there has been alot of scrambles in front and around the net leading to some poor positional play.
-
I have to admit...and I don't want to jynx anything...but Gustavsson looks awesome.

Oh Americans...always think people are copying you...lol First Canadian Thanksgiving - 1578. First American Thanksgiving - 1621. It did become a national holiday in the US first though. They also have slightly different meanings. The more you know... And yes I would love to have poutine, real Canadian beer, timbits and back bacon. lol We even call back bacon "Canadian Bacon" lol
