Totally agree as long as we land DeKeyser. Otherwise I wouldn't want to give up the depth. I think people are still hugely underestimating how much it will cost. With the recent Pitts deals giving a clearer picture of the market, I would expect them to be asking for: One of + 1st rounder or two of: Frk/Pulkkinen/Jurco/Sproul/Ouellet (top prospects) + One of: Andersson/Sheahan/Nyquist/Tatar/Jarnkrok/Smith (roster player with upside) + One of: Mrazek/Paterson Again, I believe this would be around what they are asking for, assuming he would sign an extension. (min 2-3yrs) Gross overpayment? Yup. But it's a sellers market where a guy like Murray can get you two 2nd picks.

Hoping someone with more insight could answer a question. Why was he drafted so late? - Ranked #4 Euro. #1 Swede. (Actual draft: #10 Euro, #4 Swede) - The 3 Swedes drafted before him only played in the J20 SuperElit while he was already promoted playing in the Elitserien. Was it simply just a size issue?

Just as we're about to leave the division. I like it.

Selanne hints at retirement still being far off
Son of a Wing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I don't understand why you have such an obsession with trading with Anaheim. Before Perry signed you were bringing up that trade in every thread. Now it seems you've moved onto Selanne. It seems to be all centered around the relationship between Selanne and Filppula. Guess I just don't get the fascination. Not to mention they are both playoff contenders in the same conference. -
Late.... hit to the head....blindside....defence-less.....repeat offender. i would expect 4-5 games. Predicting 2-3.

Topic title says it all. Would you trade for Brian Campbell? Positives: - Elite #1 defenceman. - Powerplay quaterback. - On a non-playoff team. (last in the east) - 1st on his team in points. (tie) - 1st on his team in min/game. (over 25min/game) - Signed on through 2016. - Florida is already at next season's cap floor with 17 guys signed on. Negatives: - cap hit is $7,142,875. - fairly one-dimensional. - undersized for an NHL defenceman. (5'10 190lbs) - despite leading in points he is 2nd worst on his team in plus/minus at -12. - would cost a fair amount to trade for. - is one of "Tallon's boys" So would you be interested? If so, what would you give up? Keep in mind this team is at the bottom of the standings and would have no interest in any of our UFAs. (ie. Filppula) Also this is not a "would you prefer Yandle or Cambpell thread". Let's assume for discussion's sake that when it comes down to the deadline other top comparable defencemen are either already dealt or have a price-tag much too high.
-
Oh calm down. lol Hence the title of this thread is "Would you..." and not "What would you trade for....". Never said it was an ideal scenario. Was just curious how people valued Campbell despite his ludicrous contract. Suppose another Filppula and a pick for Bouwmeester/Perry thread would be your preference.

Rafalski may have been better but the talent gap between them in minimal. There are very few people in the league that can do what they do from the blueline. Absolutely agree the team was in different place. We need a true offensive defenceman more than ever. That's even more crucial with Lidstrom and Rafalski gone. Agreed the salary is a minus but that is one of the main reasons he may be available. I didn't suggest the acquisition because it's the most ideal trade. I proposed it because I see it as realistic and something the Wings might do.
-
Something to think about though.....We signed Brian Rafalski in 2007 at the age of 33 on a 5 year contract worth an average of 6 mil when the salary cap was 50.3 mil. That's 12% of the cap that year and we already had Lidstrom. Campbells contract would be 10% of our cap this year.

I don't understand how through 5 pages of trade discussion people are still proposing Fil + pick and prospect in exchange for a top player from a another team. There is no scenario where Fil gets dealt to a non-playoff team. None. There's no value there. At all. He's a pending UFA. Nor does it make any sense that we would get a player anywhere close to his level. Playoff teams would most definitely have interest but would never trade a roster player of same or higher value. How does that make any sense if they want to contend? They would offer picks, a prospect or a marginal roster player. We will be lucky to get a low 2nd round pick in a deep draft if traded. But I dont think he will be regardless. Its just not the Red Wing's style.

Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?

Guys you suggested to get rid of: Franzen 6'3 225 Bertuzzi 6'3 230 Samuelsson 6'2 220 Kindl 6'3 216 Quincey 6'2 210 Cleary 6'0 210 Filppula 6'0 195 Emmerton 6'0 195 While 5'10 193 Mursak 5'11 190 Miller 6'2 178 Ok so you've taken nearly every Detroit forward over 6' off the team. Probably not a step in the right direction if you ask me. 1 proven sizable forward remaining: Abdelkader. That's Scary. Oh but you exchanged Ryan, Perry and Burrows in a "lets trade our scraps, UFAs and whipping boys for your elite franchise/heart and soul players" type trades. lol -

You mean the Leafs weren't a contender? Seriously though how many teams have the depth and potential salary cap issues we have? Im just saying if the right situation came up for Stuart to go back to soCal I wouldn't at all be surprised if it happened. Also with Ericsson up next year as a permanent fixture, he is going to get top 4 minutes. With Lids, Raf and Kronner ahead of him where does that leave Stuart? As a 3.75m 5th defenseman on a team with cap troubles? I just don't see it.
-
Your roster only has 20 players, 11 forwards and less than 300,000 in cap space lefts for injuries and such. Thats not a viable option.
-
History has clearly shown that NTC's dont always stop trades from happening. They just let the player choose their destination. edit grammar
-
With the emergence of Ericsson and still having lilja signed for one more year makes Stuart expendable at his salary.
-
They will probably only do this for the first round but regardless I found it interesting. Sad to see us struggling to sell playoff tickets. Not trying to be a downer or anything just though it was worthy of discussion. Heres the Link
