    SCF Game Two GDT

This topic of conversation is getting WAY too personal. You may not agree with people's decision to cheer for one team over the other in this series, but some of the posts here are getting out of hand. If you don't agree with another member's choice or reason in who they're cheering for, that's fine. But responding in the manner that I've seen the last few pages have been childish at the least, and bordering on the edge of breaking the Forum Rules at the worst. Keep the discussions civil please. Either agree, or disagree, but at least give other members the common courtesy of respecting the decisions that they have made and move on.

    Who was your first?

Brendan Shanahan was at a restaurant that a friend and I went to after a game, but he was with his family and we didn't want to disturb them. I also got pretty close to Igor Larionov at the premier of his "Farewell from Moscow" DVD at the Royal Oak Music Theater, but I don't really consider that as "meeting" him. The first (and thus far, only) players I got to actually meet were Hasek and Datsyuk in 07. I went to the games in LA and Anaheim with the RWNW crew, and both Hasek and Datsyuk were injured for the game in LA. VIB16, rossco and I managed to get to the area where some of the players were meeting after the LA game. Apparently Babs was pretty mad since they lost the game, so only Pavel and Dom were up there. But we got to have pictures taken with the guys. It was awesome. I asked Pavel for a picture, and he said "Sure. 5 Bucks" (especially funny when a few months later he signed his current contract). The guy's a total ham, limited English skills and all.

    Yzerman Jersey

When I go to games here in Dallas, as well as the games at the Joe in recent years that I've been to, there have still been plenty of Yzerman jerseys. Obviously, that was before Stevie left, but I think there would be no shortage of Yzerman jerseys in the crowds. The two games I went to here in Dallas this year, I saw Shanahan, Coffey, Ciccarelli, Hossa, Lapointe, etc. If my Yzerman jersey weren't retired (due to an unremovable stain, and the Wings crest won't lay flat), I would GLADLY still wear it to games. Probably the only time I wouldn't wear it would be if we were playing Tampa, but that's kinda a given if you think about it.
  4. Hmmm. Your original title (Sounds like Bertuzzi's return isn't so certain) was a bit misleading there. Nowhere in that story does it say that Bert's return "isn't such a sure thing". In fact, the widely speculated opinion is that Holland wants Bertuzzi back at the right price, and I think that is further reinforced with the following line (Emphasis added)... This whole article is mostly about the Wings' stance on letting Lidstrom make his decision, and then what schedule/timeline they're approaching on signing their potential UFAs & RFAs.

    LOL at the Sharks

Makes you wonder what the sentiment in SJ will be this offseason. They did make it past their usual first or second round exit, though I'm going to say they only technically made it.

    Versteeg seals it.

Whats the record in the NHL

With a different team, I wouldn't know where to begin. But I believe the overall record for most consecutive is 5 straight, held by 12 different players, all from the Canadiens. Jean Beliveau, Bernie Geoffrion, Doug Harvey, Tom Johnson, Don Marshall, Dickie Moore, Jacques Plante, Claude Provost, Henri Richard, "Rocket" Richard, Jean-Guy Talbot and Bob Turner were with the Habs when they won the cup 5 times in a row, 1955/1956 to 1959/1960, which is still the longest Cup winning streak in NHL history. So, if nothing else, Hossa would have to make it this year plus the next two just to tie that streak.

    LOL at the Sharks

Nabokov had zero clue where that puck was. Talk about being handcuffed by the shot...

WC in Pitt. pretty much a done deal for 2011

There's your explanation. NHL needs to market itself, and this is probably their biggest stage all year. It makes business sense to put their two biggest names in the same game. I'll watch it, if for nothing else than there's only one game like this a year. And Go Caps!

What a shot from Demers. Picked the upper stick side from the top of the circle. Ah, might have been deflected off of Keith.

    5/16 Playoff Gameday

I'm indifferent to this series (SJ-CHI). Let it go 7 games, with each game going to 3 or 4 OT's for all I care. Let these guys beat each other up and wear each other out. I can't bring myself to cheer for a division rival, so I can clearly not cheer for Chicago. I can't bring myself to cheer for the team that knocked us out, so I can clearly not cheer for San Jose. It's like a battle of wits...

Like when the Pens had 6 guys on the ice vs. Detroit, for 20 or so seconds, and the linesman actually told the Penguins player that he needed to get off the ice instead of call the penalty? Is that the "same standard" that you're referring to? GIONTA!!! You could hear a pin drop in Mellon Arena!
