Let's use this thread to debate the whole Bertuzzi and Moore incident. We'll keep the other thread to discuss Bertuzzi's possible signing in Detroit.
-
Yeah, this one's run it's course.
-
That's it. You're banned. Homer has always been the kind of player that I'd absolutely HATE if he weren't on the Wings. Always screening the goalie, distracting the D, getting in everyone's heads. I'm grateful that the guy who is the best in the league at doing that is a player wearing the Winged Wheel.
-
Again, here's the answer in case anybody missed it. And with that, this one's already run it's course.
-
They use the name plates and the block font in the preseason because they're cheaper to make. Since alot of the players that are there for training camp and the preseason will eventually play elsewhere, they don't use the normal font until the season starts.

I say give him a full season as backup, with some semi regular playing time. I haven't seen enough to say anything either way. I will, however, agree that going into the postseason with only Ozzie and Howard is a bad idea. IIRC, a lot of the hockey pundits were speculating that we would pick up a more proven backup around the trade deadline (I think this was right around the time Kenny declared that Conklin wouldn't be re-signed, but I could be wrong on that). A move like that would make sense, as I don't think the Wings want to go into the playoffs with a rookie goalie as backup. Just makes you wonder who would be available, and what we would have to part with to pick up said more-reliable-backup.

Alright... We've all laughed up the Kanye West mockery... Back to the topic at hand... I like 'em. Brings back the first "Spoked B" logo from the 48-49 season, and it's good to see the yellow back as the primary color. This one gets an A from me.

Actually, in this case it's more warranted. Stuart's NTC only covers the first two years of his contract, so he is tradeable for 10-11 and 11-12. I don't think Kenny would actually move him, of course, but it would be possible. And I'm really looking forward to Kindl cracking the lineup.

Well, if you look at the history of the Flyers jerseys, they really don't have much that's drastically different then what their current jersey is now. Sure it's evolved and de-evolved and re-evolved the waist stripe, but not too much else has changed over the years. So it's not surprising that their WC jerseys aren't anything drastically different. But yeah, it's like the polar opposite of their thirds last year, down to the horrendous off-colored name plate. I give em a solid B. It'd be a solid A+ if the league would let them wear the Cooperalls.

Best. Maze. Ever. That's freaking AWESOME!!!

Not sure if this was brought up before or not, so disregard if it has. Taken from Wikipedia, so take this for what it's worth... I have always heard that the stick laying on the rink turns it into a "C" for Canuck. That makes sense too, since that's what the current Orca logo does, forms into a C for Canuck. So that's where I always drew the correlation for the logo to the team name. But regardless if anyone else thinks it's enough or not, the stink in rink logo is my favorite logo the Nucks have had.

Those are fake. Most likely from the Chinese company. Here's a couple things to look for in the real vs fake jerseys. A - The real Reebok Edge WC jerseys don't have the red lining over the "D" logo (The part that makes it look like the D logo is glowing). Most of the fakes tend to have that lining. B - The Wings logo patch on the shoulders however does have a red "aura" around it on the real jerseys, wheras the ones you've linked to do not. C - The font on the names on the back is too small on the fakes. On the authentics, it's a larger and thicker font. Also, the Edge jerseys do not have a name plate for the names. D - The sleeves taper off a bit at the end on the Reebok Edge jersey (though, it's hard to see that in most of the pictures), whereas they are straight cut on the fakes. I have a Reebok Edge WC jersey, and when you see that one up close, and see how well it's make, the chinese knock offs become ridiculously easy to spot. Bottom line, the old adage of "You get what you pay for" applies here too. When it comes to a jersey that was originally around $300, plus $75 for the name customization, you're not going to find someone whose selling one of the real jerseys for $40 on an auction site.

Look. We get it. You don't like Bertuzzi, and you really don't like the fact that he's signed with the Wings. But here's the deal. There's already thread for the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. And there's already threads about Todd Bertuzzi being on the Red Wings. Vent your frustrations against Bertuzzi tor your heart's content, but do so in the appropriate thread.
-
I agree. After the initial "WTF?!" moment, that was my exact thought too. Someone to show Jimmy that there are options, and you're not just given a spot on this team.
-
...and to get the discussion back on track. I was disgusted with Bertuzzi when he hit Moore. But he served his time from the NHL. He did what he needed to do to get back in the league, and by this point it looks like he's put his demons from it to rest. Now he's a Wing again, and I'll cheer for him just like last go 'round.
-
And you need to ease up on the trolling/baiting remarks...
-
As cap strapped as we're going to be this year, like last year, we're probably looking at draft picks for whoever is leaving town.
-
Remember, thus thread is for discussion of the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. If you want to discuss usage of derogatory terms (specifically anti-homosexual terms) then take hockeysattva's advice and go to the thread linked below, as that topic is already being discussed there... http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=57682

There's already a thread for discussing the Bertuzzi and Moore incident. Let's keep all discussion regarding that in it's proper place. K?

Try again. They've used both the Old English D and the Gothic D as the Cougars. As modeled by Harry "Hap" Holmes...
-
True, but if I recall correctly, Ken & Mickey were talking that they did that as a tribute to the fans, since the WC was in Chicago, and most of the hometown fans didn't get a chance to see them play live in them. I suppose anythings possible, but I would be very surprised if the Wings did wear anything other than the traditional Reds & Whites.
-
Highly unlikely. Ilitch is pretty much set that the Wings will only use their standard jerseys while he owns the team. The only time the Wings have ever worn third jerseys was when it was mandated by the league. They had third jerseys that they wore in 91-92 for the 75th anniversary of the NHL, which made all O-6 teams wear throwback jerseys, and then last year's Winter Classic. Since the inception of the third jersey in 95-96, only two teams have not had a third jersey. And that's the New Jersey Devils, and the Red Wings. I really see that the only way the Wings will ever wear a third is either A - Ilitch sells the team, or B - The league mandates that they have a third.

Alright everyone. Agree, or disagree, and feel free to contribute your opinion on the discussion at hand. But do so in a respectful manner, please. If you're just going to post an insulting/snarky picture or post, it's going to be removed. Contribute to the discussion in a constructive manner, or move on.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. While I'm not much a fan of basketball to begin with, I can easily say that if I were, I would definitely NOT be a fan of the Lakers.
-
You can't be surprised at that? Does he deserve to be there? You bet. He has more cup rings than 14 of the guys on that list, and is tied with the 15th (though, since Vernie backstopped us to the cup win in '97, I would consider that category to be currently owned by Brodeur). But at this point in his career, it should be no surprise to anyone to see Osgood left out of lists like this. Maybe, maybe had Ozzie had a better regular season in 08-09 then he might have made that list. But even then, I doubt it. It never surprises me to see Ozzie left off of the "greatest" lists. And in the end, I think even Osgood knows that he probably won't get the respect that he probably deserves. How many times this year (especially the playoffs) was he asked "why don't you get the respect... yada yada yada..."? It seemed like he got that question in almost every post-game interview that I listened to this year.
