Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Jedi replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Sportsnet's picked up on it too. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/06/30/hossa_wings/ Pretty much means this thread's run it's course now. -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

I would imagine with the limited time between the deadline and now (less than 38 hours now), that Kenny wasn't able to field many decent offers. Any team that traded for Hossa's rights wouldn't have much time at all to be able to negotiate. A week ago, he might have had a few good offers, even two or three days ago... But at this point, I think it's just too late for a rights trade to be made. -

Yeah sure. Next thing you're gonna try telling me that Santa Claus isn't real... -
To OTTAWA? Let's see. You're the #2 defenseman on a team fresh off a Cup finals appearance which was fresh off a Stanley Cup win. You're playing for the team you grew up watching, living in the city you grew up in. Not only are you paired with arguably the best defenseman playing the game today, you're also playing for arguably the best coach behind the bench, AND working for arguably the best owners in the NHL. Do you REALLY think that Rafalski would give that up to be traded to the Senators? A team with two chances to make the playoffs, slim and none? Same goes with Cleary. No way is he going to waive his NTC to be traded to Ottawa.
-
Those NTC's are such a damper on trade proposals...

Osgood & Homer's combined cap hit = 3.27 million (1.86 mil for Homer, 1.41 for Ozzie). Kiprusoff's cap hit = 5.83 million (for 5 more years). That should pretty much dispel that rumor right there.

FYI. After the way the last Chelios thread (the Holland won't offer a contract thread) ended, this thread is on a short leash. Keep that (and the Forum Rules) in mind as you post here. ---------------------------------- Chris, thanks for 10 great years, 2 Stanley Cups, and lots of memories. The Stanley Cups, being booed while taking the curtain call as the #1 star in Vancouver, all the great one liners. Thanks, and good luck wherever you go.

Wouldn't it be great if LGW had a place where members could discuss Obama, "republithugs", greed, the economy, and pretty much all things politics? Please keep the discussion to the topic at hand, namely, the NHLPA's lawsuit regarding pensions.
-
I'm guessing somewhere in the East, as Cheli himself has already said. Less travel would be better for him. He should go to an O6 team, as those are the only teams he's ever played for, as Eva kinda pointed out.
-
Yeah, this one's run it's course.
-
I know that Chelios has been a bit of a polarizing figure throughout his career in the NHL, but there's no reason we can't keep the discussion here civil. Ok?
-
Thanks for a memorable 10 years, and 2 Stanley Cups Chris. Always the consummate professional. Never once complained (at least publicly) about his role with the team as the years went by. Here's to you Cheli. Hope he does well wherever he goes. And if his playing career is over, I'd love to see him stay with the organization in some capacity.

The list of Admins & Mods can be found here. And Matt listed the mods in his post. As for where we've been, the Mods are still around, though I can only speak for me. My work schedule changes every 4 months, and this most recent change (3 weeks ago) keeps my away from the boards during much of the day, so I can only come on in the evenings and at night (when there's usually much lower traffic). That said, I'd like to echo everyone's sentiments here. Thanks for the site Matt, and all the hard work you put into it!

That NTC of his tends to put a damper on that.
-
No, he was there, just closer to the end of the handshake line. NBC had a shot of Babs shaking his hand in the line. Overheard Babs say "Great leadership there" or something to that effect.
-
OMG... That crossbar stopped my heart...
-
Time's ticking away... Keep up the pressure boys...
-
Right back in it.
-
Great chances on the PP but came up dry again.
-
PP. A chance to get within one shot.
-
The NTC he has makes it a pretty good bet that he'll be here next year.
-
Great chances boys. Convert one here!!
-
Ah Cleary. TOO good a job being in front of Fluery...
-
We are very sloppy entering the zone so far. Offsides called at least 3 times this period. Gotta sharpen that up boys. Among other things too...
