Because its written into the forum rules that we don't need multiple threads discussing the same topic. There's no need to start a new topic about discussing a game, when it just so happens that there's already a topic that's discussing that very same game.

With Datsyuk leaving the game early in the 3rd, my guess is you're going to see him skip the game entirely. Best not take any chances there, IMO.

^ This. Short of giving up WAY too much in return for one of the aforementioned "year in & year out" guys, there's just no one who is worth that big of a trade. Plus, teams know that the Wings goaltending has been questionable as of late. Any team that has a goalie worth trading for is going to ask an arm and a leg for him. The defensive core is unchanged from last year, and (before you say it) you can try to blame it on Brad McCrimmon as much as you want, but the bottom line is that the motivation is just... not... there...

The only way that Hank's leaving the Wings via trade is if contract talks break down to the point of no return prior to the trade deadline. Even then, with a loaded roster that SHOULD be able to compete with any team in the league, I doubt Kenny would pull the trigger sending Z somewhere else. However, if there's any truth to recent reports about the 2 sides closing in (and with a little luck) we won't have to worry about that...

Not necessarily. Our next game is one week from tonight. Plenty of time for us to be able to rest up the injured guys. Or plenty of time for us to evaluate just how long they might be out. At this point, we're so strapped for cap space that in order to bring anyone up from Grand Rapids, we'd have to either send someone down (exposing them to waivers), or place someone on Long Term Injured Reserve (forcing the player to miss 10 games/24 days before he can be activated again). Neither scenario is good for us at this point.
