Really need to get the tempo back. Wings press = Colorado's on their heels = 4 goals. Avs press = Detroit's on their heels = 2 goals to pull within one... Is it really that difficult to understand?

I'll tell you, it was pretty darn loud in game 5 vs Nashville, despite what it may have sounded like on the TV...

Did VS really just show a stat that said Dan Cleary scored his first career playoff goal tonight? *shakes head*

GREAT first period. Solid job by responding well to the early goal. They easily could have been rattled, but they REALLY stepped up.

    Hot goalie?

Ellis left quite a few rebounds for the Wings during game 4. Now, had we only had more than one Wing forchecking, and we might have been able to convert on more than we did...

    Your quirky playoff rituals?

I can only wear Wings gear on game days in the playoffs. No ifs ands or buts about it. Regular season is fine, I can wear them anytime. But when the playoffs arrive, you won't see me in a jersey unless it's game day. It started when I was in high school, and only had 1 Wings shirt and 1 jersey, so I would alternate between the shirt and the jersey come playoff time, mostly so I could show my support on the days that Detroit played. It evolved into official quirky status years later. And it has been proven to be true, that while the Wings may not win anyways if I follow the tradition, they damn sure will lose if I don't follow it. Example. Twice in the '02 run, I wore my Hull jersey on a non-game day in the playoffs. Once was the day after the regular season came to an end (resulting loss in game 1 to Vancouver), and once right after game 7 against Colorado (resulting loss in game 1 to Carolina). No kidding, that was the last time I ever wore Wings gear on a non-game day in the playoffs. *edit* That may be my one big quirk, but I've got a few other small ones. First off, I never make predictions about a series, because I'm always wrong (and in the worst way). Finally, and this is something that's a little more recent, I try to avoid listening to music from artists that are from the area of the team we're playing. For instance, last year when we played the Ducks, I abstained from listening to Van Halen, Guns N Roses, and any other muscians from the LA area... yeah, yeah, I know, LA and Anaheim are two different places, but it's close enough for me. During the SJ series, no Metallica (same thing, San Fran and San Jose are close enough to be cautious). And so on and so forth...

Who's Number shouhld Get retired? All NHL?

Holy Redundancies, Batman!! It's a good thing we didn't already have several discussions about Fedorov's number being retired!! Yeah, because Colorado is so respected for their jersey retirement decisions... The criteria that other teams use for their jersey retirements means nothing to the Detroit Red Wings. It's safe to say that they're a fair bit more stringent with their number retirements than, say, the Habs, who have 14 jerseys retired... While Feds was a very key part of the 3 recent Cup runs, his mannerisms when he left (and when he tried to leave in '98) pretty much eliminate him from contention for having his jersey retired. Not to mention that he compared leaving the Wings to defecting from the Soviet Union. I mean, he gets booed everytime he touches the puck at the Joe! You're kidding yourself if you think the Wings will retire the number of a player who now gets BOOED when he steps in the building... I think BlakChamber said it best a few months ago (though, to be fair, he was talking about Draper's jersey-retirement-worthiness, not Feds')...

    Round 1: Wings vs. Predators

Well, if for nothing other than the fact that it's less travel, I'm ok with this matchup. Last year, all of our opponents were pretty far out west, so it'll be nice to have an opponent only an hour and a half away.
