Good job boys. Good to see that kind of effort again from the Wings in the postseason. It's been awhile...
-
And, so far at least, it's quality AND quantity for Detroit!

<--- Likes what he is hearing!

And Pavs breathes a 4 year long sigh of relief!

Great saves by Kipper. Need to put a few more past him. I don't like him getting confident...

Sorry guys. I have to...

Nice boys! 2-0. Don't let it go!

Let the madness that is playoff hockey commence! Should be a good series.

I, for one, think that a team would need to do some SERIOUS soul searching before blaming a missed playoff spot on a shootout. Toronto had 31 losses and 11 OT/SO losses. Thats 42 chances (over HALF of their games) they had to pick up the extra one point needed to get into the playoffs. The teams that make the playoffs are the ones who made the most out of the opportunities they were given. The teams that miss are the ones who blame the point structure because they didn't.

How slim is the chance of the Presidents' Trophy?
Jedi replied to DetroitRockCity13's topic in General
Honestly, if we never see that trophy in Hockeytown again, it'll be too soon. IMO, of course. It just seems to me, apart from the '02 run, the President's trophy has been a curse to us. -
Sorry. I refuse to point out dumb things other teams fans say when there's more than enough dumb posts from Wings fans on LGW. Not pointing out names or examples, I'm just saying that no team in the league is free from dumb fans. Although, to keep in topic with the thread, I'll entertain you with a dumb thing I've heard said at a (now-defunct) WPHL game here in Tx. Visiting team player takes a shot that rises up, and hits the goalie square on the cage of his mask, knocking him down. (He got right back up not 2 seconds later). What does the drunk guy in the row behind me scream? "THAT'S A PENALTY!!!" Yes... I can see it now, 2 minutes for Shot On Goal.

As a rule, I only wear Red Wings clothes on game days. While doing this doesn't guarantee victory, if I don't adhere to the tradition, it is certain doom. Case in point. 02 Playoffs, the thought slipped my mind, and I wore my Hull jersey the day before Game 1 vs the Nucks. Result? Wings lose 4-3 in OT. And then, same year, I was rather forced to wear my Hullie jersey again 2 days before game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals (on a cruise for vacation, and literally had only my jersey & undershirt or a business suit left), and the Wings lost game 3-2 in OT against the Canes. So, no Wings gear on non gamedays. Period. I also have a bit of a minor tradition, in that I try not to listen to musicians that are from the area of the team we play against (i.e., Can't listen to Metallica if we play San Jose, etc), but that's just more of a passive thing.

By that logic, Franzen is worse off than Grigs, as he was selected lower in the 3rd round. Datsyuk is worse than Franzen, as he was selected in the 6th round. And don't even get me started on Henrik "I must REALLY suck because I was taken in the 7th round" Zetterberg. And on that line of thinking, Lilja is better than all of them, as he was taken 54th overall...

I missed something here. Since when was it Edmonton's job to help the Wings win anything? When Detroit starts relying on the actions of any other team in the league, then we're in trouble.

How bout let's not? We don't want a flood of Blues fans joining LGW just to bash the Wings and their fans? Don't you think it's safe to say that they probably feel the same way about Wings fans joining? Besides, little known it may be, but joining another team's board just to start crap can be an easy way to earn a one-way ticket to LGW-Banville (for the aforementioned reason, it starts a flood of them coming over, and we don't want that). Guys, seriously, who cares what the Blues fans think of themselves, or the Blues, or the Wings, or anyone for that matter? As soon as what the Blues fans think of the Wings (or their fans) makes a difference in the outcome of the games, then I'll care.

They did make the call to Toronto, who confirmed the no goal call. Not saying they confirmed no goal, because that was clearly in. They just confirmed the call. Still. One point's more than we deserved after the first period... Better than no points at all. Let St Louis celebrate tonight. They've only got 8 more games this season anyways...

Vaclav Nedomansky on the trivia question.

In the order that I got them... Red Gordie Howe* Black Brendan Shanahan* Red Darren McCarty* White Chris Osgood* White Steve Yzerman* Red Brett Hull* White Curtis Joseph (With the name Cujo on the back, not Joseph)* White Pavel Datsyuk Red Henrik Zetterberg It's been a tradition of mine to buy a new jersey each year. Still haven't bought one this year though, but I'll probably end up getting 2. And those 2 will probably be my last 2 for a while, as the tradition will come to an end with the entering of the form-fit jerseys. Looking at a White Zetterberg with the A (maybe pre-emptively upgrade to the C), and a White Lidstrom with the C. Those are subject to change though. *denotes jersey has been retired from active wear

115? Nonsense. It doesn't look a day over 95...

AHAHaha... I remember that debate last year when the NHL did this. Seriously. Raising money for a worthy cause is never a bad thing. I hope it turns out to be even more successful than last year!

Wow. And to think that I used to like Chris Simon... I think he's done for the season on a shot like that. Or if he isn't done for the season, he certainly should be...

Oh god... I'm having Lockout flashbacks all over again... "Constructive", "Significant", "Progress", "Agreed to meet again"... Make it stop!!!

When you have the the best defenseman in the league, you pay what it takes to keep him. Hands down, he's worth every penny at 7.6, and I have no problem at all with the cap space he takes up.

No sir. I don't like it. Actually, I like the logo itself, but the colors/pattern of the jersey are just too bland. Plus, the maroon-ish red looks terrible with that almost-but-not-quite-navy blue.
