Per LeBrun...

"Paging Mr. Burke. Mr. Brian Burke, please pick up the white courtesy phone." Knew this had to happen sooner or later. However, without being able to open up the coffers, I'm not sure how much difference it might make.

Here's a map of the proposed alignment. As joshy pointed out, this is the exact same as proposed in 2011. For the record, I think there's some positives about the proposed realignment, and some negatives. Less travel, especially in the playoffs would be a huge plus (would only have to travel as far as Dallas/Winnipeg for the first two rounds). However, by default, this proposal is harder for the "western" teams, since they have 8 teams per "division" as opposed to the east, which only has 7.

A little insight from Bob McKenzie...

Calgary needed a goalie, since Kipper is out with an MCL injury. As stated before, this shows that the Wings wanted to keep Mrazek in town until Monster is able to play again. I'm 100% ok with that.

Garth Snow has no idea what you're talking about...

Staying out of the penalty box will be key. The Oilers are ranked something like #3 in PP% this season.

Andersson is 6'2", 206 lbs. Looks like they're looking at bringing in a bigger guy for Bertuzzi... -
injured Bertuzzi out w/back injury, other practice news & notes

Per Ansar KHAAAAAAN!!! And Helene St. James says Bert went for an MRI... -
It's worth noting, the Wings still have not scored a PPG on the road. That said, 2-0 on goals by Cleary and Kindl? Whoever had THAT square is a happy man...

And you thought only Holmstrom got hosed on Goalie Interference calls

From Puck Daddy... -
Saw it posted (I think on page 1) that Mrazek wasn't started vs. Calgary because Babs wanted him to get a few practices in with the Wings' system before getting the start. Petr was called up on February 4th, and the Calgary game was the 5th. At best, that's 2 practices (possibly only 1, since he might have missed the Feb 4th practice due to preparation and travel from the callup).
-
IIRC, Babcock tends to put backup goalies in for road games, because he believes there's less pressure on them to do well. Haven't a clue where I saw/heard that though, so take it for what it's worth. In other lineup related news, Kindl is in, Huskins is out.
-
For those keeping track at home, Mrazek will wear #34. Also, he has the Griffins' crest logo on his pads, which is awesome. I'd also expect him to get in one of the back-to-back's coming up, either vs. Edmonton on Saturday, or LA on Sunday.

Perhaps we'll see the team rally around him they way you sometimes see teams rally around a goalie who's coming in mid-game. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps...

Injured Helm: "Minor Setback", still out indefinitely, *merged*
Jedi replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Turns out it's a small tear or strain in a ligament in his lower back, but that's actually a bit of good news (in that, it could have been much worse, but isn't). Per Helene St. James/Free Press... However, there's still no timetable for his return. There's more in the story, so I encourage you to click the link and give it a read. -
Puck daddy came up with the caption, so a h/t to him... “This is just like that time I appeared as a Superhero on Petr Mrazek’s Grand Rapids Griffins’’ mask …” Full gallery here... http://daveart.com/mask-gallery/set/72157632694007103/default.aspx

It's funny... I could have sworn someone posted a notice about "Why I Do/Don't like Family Guy" and how it should be posted in the Water Cooler... I mean, it's like it just happened a few hours ago... If you recently posted in this thread, and have now discovered your post is missing, it's now been split into it's own seperate thread in the Water Cooler. Which is exactly where I said discussion of Why/Why Not should be discussed...

I'm afraid that Lando Calrissian picture I used a few posts back might get used a whole lot more before this whole thing is done... "This deal is getting worse all the time..."

Saw a story on Icethetics about how someone was able to get pictures of player shirts that were made for the now-cancelled W.C. All speculation, of course, since nothing official was released by either team, nor the NHL.

Hey guys, It's probably best to leave discussion of why we do/don't like Family Guy for the Water Cooler, at the very least. I understand that the subject matter makes it easy to wander into that realm of discussion, but people's like or dislike of that show is often rooted in political or religious viewpoints, which generally aren't approved content here on LGW. If you want to discuss such things in PM's, you're more than welcome to. But at the very least, they don't really pertain to hockey discussion, so it would be best to leave them off the boards "at-large".

Desjardin match penalty on clean hit against Mayers
Jedi replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
LeBrun reported that the league has rescinded the match penalty from Desjardin's record. That said, clearing the record "after the fact" isn't enough. There needs to be major reviews and changes to the league's officials and their standards for calls. In a shortened season, each goal/game is that much more important, and teams can't afford to lose games based on horrible calls. -
Oh goodie... It's not like this has the potential to be disastrous or anything... Star Wars Spinoff Films Confirmed By Disney
