If I could "+" this post more than once, I would. This whole thing still seems so surreal. Lidstrom was supposed to play long enough to fuse his consciousness with cybernetics, thus creating a perfect hockey playing cyborg that would never retire, and win the Norris every year.

Come Out And Play - The Offspring

30 minutes left. Just a reminder, the press conference can be seen online at redwings.nhl.com, as well as the NHL Network.

I'd imagine that Zetterberg will get the "C". I'm also wondering if they keep the rotating "A" like they did this year, or if they go with just two players. Only 2 A's would probably look like this... Zetterberg - C Datsyuk - A Kronwall - A If they decide to continue rotating the A, there are a number of players who could fill the third Alternate spot without a problem. Helm, Cleary, Bertuzzi, Filppula could be named, as well as a potential free agent acquisition such as Parise or Suter.

Finally finished this one. Not quite sure how I feel about the ending. On one hand, it was an ending as unique as the game series itself, yet on the other, it felt like it was lacking. I understand the DLC in the summer will add a cinematic style of epilogue, but won't change the ending itself. In any case, this game series has been absolutely amazing with each episode. Each of the 3 games is in my top 10 all time games list.

Found the tweet from the Wings last year about Lidstrom's extension. It was a conference call, not a full blown press conference. And I found a story from last year, which also points out that it was only a conference call... http://www.sbnation.com/2011/6/20/2336804/nicklas-lidstrom-signs-one-year-contract-will-return-for-another/in/1997152 Granted, no official details have been released, but I really have the feeling that Nick is hanging them up tomorrow.

I think this is a retirement press conference. Hoping against hope that I'm wrong, but it just doesn't have that "extension" feel to it.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Game One officials, Dan O'Halloran and Brad Watson. Makes me kinda glad the Wings aren't in the finals. I'd hate to see the ways that we'd get jobbed by the sheer incompetence that those two bring to the ice. -

It's a list of all the individual awards won by Detroit Red Wings players. Full size (2992 x 1683). Good for looking at the individual names/awards.

Haha, nope. She's not the kind of person to draw attention to herself like that.

The stories I've always seen/heard all mentioned that the Joe would be demolished to make way for an expansion of Cobo. Though, living in Dallas, I admittedly get less information about that than others would. An aquarium would be a great idea too. The same thing was done in Dallas with an old warehouse built in the 1920's, and it turned out magnificently. Doing the same thing with a sports arena is definitely possible, if challenging. Though, since the Joe is owned by the City of Detroit, the Ilitch's may have no say in the matter at all, when the time comes... My at-the-time-girlfriend (now fiance) was with me at that game, and she's a huge Stars fan. The Stars scored all their goals in less than 2 minutes, and she was just laughing it up. I was ticked off, but there was still plenty of time left in the game. Needless to say, I was laughing by the end of the night.

'10. It was from Eaves' Hat Trick game. Final Scoreboard. AAC has parking in all directions, both private lots and city property. I usually park under a freeway and walk to the stadium (not even half a mile). Occasionally I can get Stars tickets through my company (they have season tickets), and those include free parking right next to AAC, which is always nice too. Definitely better than waiting for 45 minutes in the biting cold for a vastly overcrowded people mover train to get me back to the Greektown. Moving to downtown will be good for the city, and good for the Wings too. As much as I love the Joe, and would be sad to see it go, it's something that needs to be done for a number of reasons. When they finally do demolish the Joe, I need to get someone to bring a piece of it back for me. Talk about something awesome to have at my desk at work...

I've sat in the both upper and lower levels of AAC, and haven't once been disappointed. Yes, the upper levels are steep, but they do afford a good view of the entire ice surface, and we had no problems tracking the puck or even reading the names on the back of the jerseys. Check out my pic from the last Wings game I went to, to see what I mean. Taken from the lower rows of the upper level, still a great view, and only about $40 a ticket.
