That doesn't matter. The league is the ultimate disciplinarian, be it a coach or a player who needs to be disciplined. Sending a message that a coach who verbally attacks opposing players gets a fine that is 8x more than a player who physically attacks opposing players is stupid, and downright dangerous. No one out there (be it fan, player, or pundit) believes that the $2,500 is enough to "match the crime". If that's the case, and $2,500 is the maximum fine that can be levied, then a suspension needs to be assessed to pick up where the small fine leaves off.

That's where a suspension should be served then. There's no doubt that this incident is FAR worse than what Tortorella did to the Penguins/Crosby/Malkin. So if a $2,500 fine doesn't serve as the proper discipline, then a suspension should pick up where the fine leaves off.

8x worse, actually, based on the dollar amount of the fine. Based on his $7.5m salary, that's actually 1/3000th of his yearly salary. At my salary, that would be a fine of $12.33.

$2500 fine? Unbelievable. That's not even a slap on the wrist. That's just a stern look of disapproval.
