That doesn't matter. The league is the ultimate disciplinarian, be it a coach or a player who needs to be disciplined. Sending a message that a coach who verbally attacks opposing players gets a fine that is 8x more than a player who physically attacks opposing players is stupid, and downright dangerous. No one out there (be it fan, player, or pundit) believes that the $2,500 is enough to "match the crime". If that's the case, and $2,500 is the maximum fine that can be levied, then a suspension needs to be assessed to pick up where the small fine leaves off. -

https://twitter.com/#!/CraigCustance/status/190499388324450304 Yeah, because you showed such great concern for Zetterberg's health when you grabbed his head and drove it into the glass, ever so gently and lovingly... I think I've changed my mind. I do not want Weber on this team as a free agent. -

Sadly, I think you have to be suspended to be considered a repeat offender. After a bit of Googling... -

That's where a suspension should be served then. There's no doubt that this incident is FAR worse than what Tortorella did to the Penguins/Crosby/Malkin. So if a $2,500 fine doesn't serve as the proper discipline, then a suspension should pick up where the fine leaves off. -

8x worse, actually, based on the dollar amount of the fine. Based on his $7.5m salary, that's actually 1/3000th of his yearly salary. At my salary, that would be a fine of $12.33. -

$2500 fine? Unbelievable. That's not even a slap on the wrist. That's just a stern look of disapproval. -

Jedi Ninja commands your respect! Tough injury to take, especially since the whole thing wouldn't have happened if he didn't come back for game 1.

Now it's official, with this release from the Red Wings...

Sheahan, Conner, Mursak and Nyquist are all available. I'd be willing to bet that either Sheahan (for his size) or Conner (for his speed) would be a Helm replacement.

Not much of an update at this time, but news will be coming in the next few hours... https://twitter.com/#!/AnsarKhanMLive/status/190447452724264961

Zeee! 50th career playoff goal and 100th career playoff point for Zetterberg.
-
Didn't look as bad as Mo's cut last year, but it's obviously serious.
-
Why is it that guys always get career/season firsts against us? Gaustad's first goal as a Predator, and first career playoff goal.

Bad break there.

Babcock said he hasn't decided on Cleary being in the lineup tonight yet. If Cleary's out, it's either Goose or Emmerton in his spot. https://twitter.com/#!/DetroitRedWings/status/190126295479361537 https://twitter.com/#!/AnsarKhanMLive/status/190126572517330944

Still a bit early to rule Helm in, though. Helm still leaving a bit of wiggle room if he isn't ready to go. https://twitter.com/#!/DetroitRedWings
