FYI, Looks like there's an email/txt list you can join that will update with info. http://redwings.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=77652&navid=DL|DET|WC

Great idea for a thread, and I love the idea of the easy-to-search-for-title. A+. Count me in as someone needing help acquiring tickets. I'll need at least 2, maybe 4 at most depending on if I can convince friends from California to go. Can't wait!

Could Bettman sound any LESS interested right now?

This might be old news, since it happened in October, but I thought I'd share in case someone hadn't seen this yet. I don't know if any of you guys subscribe to Game Informer magazine, but there was an interesting article in their newest issue about a speed run challenge through Skyrim. The goal was to run through the main story line as quickly as possible, so they were going to be forsaking all sidequests, levelling, etc. The winner clocked in at 2 hours, 16 minutes, 10 seconds. Bethesda and Game Informer both have blog entries up about the contest. If you get a chance, I really recommend reading the original article (which I'll try and locate), since it gives some insight into how you have to run through the game with such a low time. For the record, I'm just over 100 hours in, level 39. Still haven't finished the main quest, though I'll likely be done with it in a few days of playing time. (I usually only get a chance to play this game on Tuesdays, when my fiance and the baby are out visiting her mother).

This was brought up in Puck Daddy's Jersey Fouls last year. Wyz seems to want to give the idea a pass, but I just can't stand for it.

There's your problem. For what it's worth, the Red Wings twitter feed just reiterated that at the moment it's only "2 games and reevaluated". I'd imagine that if he has a broken finger, there's a fair amount of swelling going on at the moment. They probably are waiting for the swelling to go down, and then evaluate from there.

Well, maybe only two games... https://twitter.com/#!/DetroitRedWings/status/165450903636295680 If it truly is only two games, then it's not too big a deal. Conks to get work in Edmonton and in Phoenix. After that, the next game is back home against Edmonton, and it's not on a back to back, so it still gives a little time for Jimmy to heal.

I updated the topic title to help try and avoid the "Chicago got Brendan Morrow?!?!?!" confusion. This deal seems more like a move to find someplace for Morrison to play. He had pretty limited ice time in Calgary, from what I've read so far.

They did when Emmerton scored his first, last year against Chicago. I was at that game. Emmer's goal was the only bright spot in an otherwise DISMAL game. 4-1 Chicago, I think. Emmer scored the first goal of the game, and it was all Chicago after that.

At only half the salary, and possibly later in the year so his cap hit would be even less? I'd say you're right. That's if he even gets to re-entry waivers, though...
-
Exactly. And as close as the positioning is in the playoff race, 4 extra points at the end of the year could make a huge difference.

This game was a disaster. Thankfully, one thing saved it from being an unmitigated disaster... ...Gomez didn't score a goal.

Terrible idea. Not only do you have to deal with the possibility of having to push the game later due to weather, what happens if/when local fans have a conflict of interest? For instance, what happens if New York hosts the Winter Classic at Yankee Stadium, and the Giants make the Super Bowl the same year? Or the Bruins/Patriots? Or the Penguins/Steelers? Local fans won't be happy if they have to choose to watch a regular season hockey game (albeit a very special regular season game), or a championship football game. There's just too many things that could go horribly wrong for the NHL to justify moving the Classic to Super Bowl Sunday.

The DJ at the Joe has always been spot on with music, IMO. Cleary's former goal song, "I Can See Clearly Now". I Can't Drive 55 for Kronner. The Shanahan Washer Woman jig. "Let It Be" from the Beatles during a goal review, or "What's Up" by 4 Non Blondes after a bad call. Even playing the Carmina Burana before a pivotal power play or penalty kill. And I love when they play Journey at the end of the game. And everyone remember this gem? The song playing during the replay? "I Believe I Can Fly". CLASSIC.

Agreed. Had Nikitin's legs not slipped out from under him, that would have been a pretty harmless check into the boards. For what it's worth, Mlive has a bunch of quotes from players and the coaches about the incident...

Well played. I'll agree with previous statements. Can't stand the guy, but his return would be good for the sport. Plus, I never want to see a player have to end his career due to injury.

At least for tonight, Detroit is alone at the top of the NHL standings. Any win is a good win.
