AT LAST. After about a week and a half, I FINALLY get to play again. My fiance and the baby are over at her mom's house, so I've got an empty house for the evening, and no responsibilities. Wait, what am I doing? Why am I on LGW instead of playing?

Exactly. Because as it is, the league's 2 most marketable stars/teams (Crosby/Pens, Ovechkin/Caps) could conceivably meet up in the playoffs every single year. Seperating Pittsburgh and Washington would effectively kill one of the best marketing tools the NHL could have, before they even had a chance to use it. IMO, there's a lot to like, and a lot to dislike about the new alignment. As it is, it's possible to have a Chicago/Vancouver Stanley Cup finals. Imagine how intense that series could be... If I had to guess at the conference names, I'd bet the NHL goes with something unimaginative, and use something like this (Color Coded to the map)... WESTERN (GREEN PINS) Anaheim Ducks Calgary Flames Colorado Avalanche Edmonton Oilers Los Angeles Kings Phoenix Coyotes San Jose Sharks Vancouver Canucks CENTRAL (RED PINS) Chicago Blackhawks Columbus Blue Jackets Dallas Stars Detroit Red Wings Minnesota Wild Nashville Predators St. Louis Blues Winnipeg Jets EASTERN (YELLOW PINS) Boston Bruins Buffalo Sabres Florida Panthers Montreal Canadiens Ottawa Senators Tampa Bay Lightning Toronto Maple Leafs ATLANTIC (BLUE PINS) Carolina Hurricanes New Jersey Devils New York Islanders New York Rangers Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins Washington Capitals

In case anyone wanted to see how the new conferences are aligned in terms of geography...

I'm so jealous of people who say they are level 20's and 30's. I'm only level 8 at this point, trying to increase my magicka and decrease my magicka spell costs. Combined with the Warrior Stone blessing, my one handed skills are skyrocketing, so I'm kinda working this whole "Battlemage" angle with my character. The last main quest mission I did was to travel to High Hrothgar to receive Shout training. Been doing a ton of sidequests and exploration since then. *update* First random dragon encounter today. Holy crap, that was intense.

Philadelphia Flyers Unveil Winter-Classic Jersey
Jedi replied to Wing Across The Pond's topic in General
Exactly. Philly's jerseys have had very little change over the years, so finding a different look in the past is going to be hard to do. I'm at least glad that the rumors that it was going to be based off the old Philadelphia Quakers turned out to be incorrect... I'm telling you though, the NHL needs to let them wear Cooperalls one last time... -
Yep. Learned that the hard way. Giant > Level 5 Breton

Chameleon would make you visible if you took any aggressive action, such as stealing or attacking, but invisibility was different. I think it was designed that you were only supposed to be at 20% invisibility, meaning you could be invisible if your enemy had a low enough awareness. But if you added several pieces with 20%, the effect was cumulative, so you could be completely invisible to every enemy. Closing down Oblivion gates was a cakewalk, when you could walk right up to the Sigil Stone without ever being attacked once... About 4 hours into Skyrim now. Spending time doing some of the easier side quests as I get my character stronger.

Days Go By - Dirty Vegas

Played about 2 hours last night, and am very impressed. Of course, I'm still really early in the campaign, but I'm definitely liking what I've seen so far. Very curious to see if my old trick from Oblivion still works. Enchant 5 different pieces of armor/clothing with 20% invisibility, and POOF! No one can see you! Enemies don't know that they're being attacked, civilians don't know their goods are being stolen. It was glorious!

Sounds like it. Commie's in for the start of the road trip, and Smith is brought up to finish out his suspension. I suppose there's a chance that Smith might be worked in a game on the trip, but I think it'd be better to have him playing first line minutes in GR than third line minutes with the Wings (if he's even in the lineup).

Bought this game yesterday evening, and have been dying to play it ever since. Yet, it sits on the bar in the kitchen, as I've barely had enough time to sleep, let alone dedicate a few good hours to this game. This afternoon looks promising, however. Getting fantastic reviews. 9.0 from Gamespot, 95 from IGN, 95 from Game Informer.

He'd get $6m+ easy on the free market. If the $4.75m cap hit is true, then this is a great signing in my book.

Alright everyone. I think we've had enough fun at the OP's premise without contributing to the topic. Let's try and steer the Good Ship New-Fathers-Miss-The-Playoffs back to her original course. So, is a new goalie needed for this team to make the playoffs? Win the Stanley Cup? If so, who do we trade for, and who do we trade away?
-
The Wings are now destined to miss the playoffs because Howard is a new father? Just when you think you've heard of everything... The problem with your question is that at the moment there are no unsigned goalies left on the market that are better than Howard, with or without sleep. So the only option to make your wish come true is a trade. While we've got plenty of cap space, we're already at the roster limit, so we'd have to either waive a player if trading only picks/prospects, or make a player-for-player trade. Who exactly off of this roster would you send away? (And dont say Howard. If he's going to be terrible because of lack of sleep, then no team in the league will want to trade their solid goalie for a "sleepy" goalie).

If it's just announcing the next draft to Pittsburgh, then... *yawn* ...sorry, can't make it through that thought without getting tired.

The numbers are at least historically accurate for the Rangers. Although, it was for only one season, '46-'47... Nope, you're not the only one. I like them too.
-
Interesting. The Philly jerseys have been rumored to be based off the old Quakers sweaters for some time. Good to see they weren't as bad i was thinking that they would be. I also like how they incorporated the Flyers logo in place of where "Quakers" script would be. And it looks like the Rags are going with a cream colored variant of their '46-47 sweaters. I like them, overall. Still not as good as Boston's and Detroit's (though, admittedly I'm biased).

My fiancé and I went to their preseason opener vs the Avs. The tickets normally were $150 (lower bowl), but thankfully I got the tickets free through work. Granted, it was a preseason game, but I would be shocked if there were more than 2,000 people there. The official boxscore for that game shows just under 6500, but I don't believe that.

Tell the Illitch Family to Drop "Presented by Amway"
Jedi replied to WingedWheeler1319's topic in General
They signed a 3 year contract. I'm sure they don't want to lose the revenue from the deal, as well as having to pay legal fees against the inevitable breach of contract lawsuit that would arise from Amway. I don't like the sponsorship any more than anyone else, but unfortunately this is a done deal. -
Good choice. He's very articulate, and is easy to understand (not a knock against Datsyuk). And he's really stepped up his game and on-ice leadership. Hopefully he thrives with it!

Keep it as is. The player desktops were nice, but I'm definitely digging the month and days as the player name script. Bang up job, Matt.

The 3 game suspension in the AHL would make sense if it was "credited" towards his NHL suspension. But as it stands, suspended for a total of 11 games for a hit that was ruled for an 8 game suspension... If I were Kenny, I'd go ahead and call him up to start serving the suspension with the Wings. If he can't play in the NHL, and can't play in the AHL, might as well get the more important suspension over with...

Discussions of the individual goals from the game can be discussed in the corresponding game's GDT.

It's not great, but it's not horrible either. I can live with them, begrudgingly.
