Three of Four Officials for USA/Canada Game From Canada
Barrie replied to CenterIce's topic in General
I don't think you have to worry about McCreary and O’Halloran. Edit: Also, they work the majority of the time in the USA in front of American's, they won't screw 'em. -
I like how this tournament is showing that Cindy is among 1 of 20 great Canadian born players. It's been a collection of guys that have led Canada to the Gold Medal Game, it's not just one player. I hope the media and Bettman clue in, but I doubt it. I'm ok either way Sunday, I like both Canada and the USA, so I don't have a preference on who wins. It's just like at sporting events, I sing both National Anthems.
-
that's it! It's not wanting to see those guys succeed, especially Crosby. I just can't take anymore of the media/Bettman man crush for Crosby. If Canada losing means less Crosby, then sign me up. If Canada can win without Crosby scoring another point, I'll sign too.
-
Just as long as Crosby stays off the score sheet and off TV, I can handle the rest of the team for one or two more games. I think this tournament is showing everyone that Crosby isn't the end all and be all of Canadian hockey players. Personally I am enjoying watching Getzlaf, Perry, and Nash. I've been neutral, and have enjoyed it.

I'm a Jennifer Jones fan myself.

I'm really enjoying watching Getzlaf, I think could be one of the best all around Canadian hockey players right now. It's to bad the Media/Bettman has a man crush on Crosby, and Getzlaf plays in Anaheim, the guy is overlooked. With that said though, I still don't like the guy I enjoyed not seeing Crosby's face every two minutes last night, I hope he doesn't get another point in the tournament .

Yea I was thinking tonight I'd be ok with Sweden losing over the Slovaks. Our guys can take a break before the playoff race, while all those Western Conference Canadians tire themselves out trying to win Gold. Plus I think a lot of the Canadian players are idiots, and I don't want them taking runs at Lidstrom and Kronwall, or punching Franzen in the head to give him another concussion.
-
I don't think it's Babcock and Yzerman's fault that a lot of Canada's top players have either choked in big games or don't have enough winning experience in the NHL.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)
Barrie replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Canada's top players are weak in big games, and I've been saying that from the beginning. Crosby has had two below average Stanley Cup Finals, Iginla hasn't won anything in the NHL and neither has Thornton, plus Calgary and SJ are the biggest choke teams in the NHL! Nash has only been in the playoffs once, and we took the Blue Jackets out 4 straight! Pronger, Neidermayer, and Brodeur need to lead this team or else Canada's done when they face Russia on Wednesday. Look who scored tonight for the USA Rafalski, Langenbrunner, and Drury, all Stanley Cup Champions. -

The USA has impressed me the most in this tournament, Finland right behind them, so I'm not surprised at all they beat Canada tonight. I said from the beginning that Canada wasn't the best team in this tournament and so far I've been right, we'll see what happens next. Despite being Canadian, I'm happy for Miller, as you can tell from my signature, I'm a Michigan State fan. -
NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics
Barrie replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I don't like the larger ice surface. I noticed in the 2006 Olympics, all the defense did was steer the forwards to the corners, and on the larger ice, there's more ice to make up to get back to the front of the net, decreasing scoring chances. I like the NHL dimensions. -
NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics
Barrie replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I like the no tough icing, and I really like the 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for a OT/SO win, 1 point for losing in the OT/SO, and 0 for a regulation loss. I can put up with the shootout if all games are worth 3 points. I don't like how Regulation, OT, and SO wins are awarded the same 2 points in the NHL. -
I do like how all games are 3 points. 3 points for a regulation win, and 2 points for an OT/SO win. The NHL should take note!
-
I'm with you. Z and Forsberg seem to have some good chemistry going at the Olympics.

Whenever you get a bunch of guys together they always box or wrestle. I didn't play hockey in my teens, but a bunch of us used to do our own WWE style matches and filmed it. It was fun, and none of us got too badly hurt. Boys will be boys.

Let's go Datsyuk! -
I'd rather the NHL stop playing in the Olympics, and have the World Cup of Hockey every 4 years instead.

2010 Winter Olympics - United States vs Norway (Group A)
Barrie replied to redwings8831's topic in General
I wonder how teams like Germany, Latvia, and Norway react when they win a spot to play in the Olympics? Do they jump around and spray each other with champagne? Because really when they qualify, they're really only qualifying to get their lunch handed to them by Canada, Sweden, Russia, Finland, etc.. I say that all in fun. It was like the one game playoff last year between the Tigers and Twins for the Central Division Title. Other than being named 2009 AL Central Champs, realistically they really were playing for being the team who would be swept by the Yankees in the first round. -

I must admit, despite being down 3-0, Norway has played decent. This game could easily be 3-2 USA, Miller has had to come up big a few times.
