Ok, I would guess the countries that need to win their spot has no NHL players on their teams or something like that.

Sorry to say, but some of these countries like Norway shouldn't even play Olympic Hockey against powerhouses like Canada, Sweden, Russia, USA, Finland, and Czech Republic. Do they even have a Olympic qualification tournament in Europe? Or can any country play? I can't imagine the Norway, Latvia, Germany, and Belarus players enjoy being beat every game, and most of the time very badly. They should limit the teams to the top 8, and have the Swiss, Norway, Latvia, Germany, Belarus, and Slovakia play for the last 2 spots before the Olympics. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Canada, Sweden, Russia, USA, Finland, and Czech Republic play each other more. But that's just me I guess. Womens Hockey is even worse...

With most of the players on team Canada making me wanna :puke: I've decided to back the USA, so I'll be watching. I'm guessing a 5-1 win for USA.

I think this is a dumb reply to the opening post. To reply to the opening post. The Men's Olympic hockey isn't a sure thing like the Women's. Who would have thought the Czech Republic, a country of only 10 Million people would win gold in 1998? Almost anything is possible!

Hey I was at The Joe Saturday night, February 13th, for the 4-1 win against Ottawa. I brought my camera, and wouldn't you know it, I ended up getting all 4 goals on camera, along with some other clips. I still can't believe I got all 4 goals! The Maltby one was a total fluke. I turned the camera on, and he scored. I decided to film all Power Plays, so the Datsyuk and Cleary goals weren't too tough. The Franzen goal, I turned the camera on when Ottawa pulled the goalie. Edit: I think the Datsyuk goal is my favorite, less shaking on that one, lol!

I know what you mean. Some people are saying I should get over it because it's my home country. But I think cheering for Crosby, Getzlaf, Iginla, Pronger, Neidermayer, and Nash, means I'm cheering against Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Franzen, Kronwall, Filppula, Datsyuk, and Rafalski. Personally I can't do that, but don't blame any Canadian Wings fan for backing team Canada because they're Canadian boys. To each their own. I'm neutral, so I'll just sit back and watch some excellent hockey!

Really? Malts, Draper, and Holmstrom play 3rd and 4th lines mintues. It's not like Messier who wanted 1st line minutes when he clearly couldn't keep up. Maltby, Draper, and Holmstrom are classy guys know their role.

In my opinion, Maltby, Draper, Lidstrom, and Holmstrom can stay around as long as they want.

I can't disagree. Sports talk radio is much better in this Country when Canadian teams lose.

I'm Canadian, but I don't have any interest in seeing Crosby, Getzlaf, Pronger, Neidermayer, Iginla, Nash, etc. win anything. I don't really have a favorite going into this. I'd be happy seeing the Red Wings players doing well. If Sweden, Russia, USA, or Finland medal, I'm satisfied.

I've been a Wings fan since the late 1980's, is there an official beginning to the fans at The Joe singing along to Journey's Don't Stop Believing? Off hand I think it was something that started in the 2008 Playoffs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember it prior to the 2008 Cup run. Just like the "Let's Go Red Wings" chant, if I remember correctly, it became a regular chant at the Joe in the 1995 Playoffs.
